you can't switch plugins without resetting the ROM

glN64 doesn't work for me, Jabbo's 1.5.2 and 1.6 are the only two video plug-ins that work, neither of which worked.

If you are referring to me, the extra bombchu is needed in the Forest Temple as adult Link to do the boss key skip, so no. That's an awesome trick but i'm sure it only saves about 5 seconds, which is less than I could save by implementing that bombchu elsewhere. Thanks for the advice though
Could you instead use the strategy that SL used to clip into the wall in his child TAS or would that not work as an adult? Edit: I tried it and it doesnt...at least not for me wierd oh well I guess ill do with all the other glitches you will be doing in your run :) Oh and amazing WIP loved the desert/spirit temple section

Yeah it only works as child but that would be incredible if it worked as an adult haha. Vine clipping only works as a kid and I think it's because the animation clips inside for a frame each time he climbs up once so if you get hit it exactly while grabbing it throws you through the vine. I thought about it and I think I will use that DC glitch because I noticed that a bombchu I was using was saving me less time than that glitch would so I'll try it out. Also thanks a lot for liking my WIP, i'll post another after a while maybe after DC or HC if people wanna see one.

I used glN64 and it always desyncs inside the Deku Tree after he takes the slingshot. He takes out a deku stick and starts to rub himself against the wall.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-p-Yl6qhGDw In case anybody was wondering, it's not possible to just jump into the null void and rely on quick death warp to replace link behind the ToT door; because it just shoves him back to wherever he entered the room from. In this case, back in front of the master sword. You do however lose a heart when you do this, so what about simply repeating this over and over until you lose all health. That way you'll get a more formal "Save?"/"Continue?" death, which should allow you to restart on the TOT warp spot, past the door. This'd save a lot of hassle trying to get the Hover boots at least.

Flip, you are entirely correct, but the video was already posted in this thread (on this page!) and the game over method of getting to the ToT's entrance was also already mentioned. :)

I didn't see this mentioned, but wouldn't it be quicker to blow yourself shitless with bombs/bombchus rather than jumping into the void many times?

In the short term yes, obviously. but explosives are precious, and if more time is saved somewhere else with a bomb(chu)...

Plus in this case you cant use explosives in the ToT

Yeah I haven't seen that mentioned before either, that's a really good idea. Also I tried the DC superslide and I can't get it to work without dying :( I don't think it's possible

Apparently even if you get game over, you'll restart in the master sword room, according to Manocheese at SDA.

Of course, I can't believe I forgot that you can't use items. does that just leave hoverboots as the only real option? Edit: Or using the spirit temple warp song, then hauling ass back across hyrule.

Faster than completing 3 of the kid temples I imagine. Here's another thought: Go to Kakiriko, get the cuccoo bottles, enter shadow temple early for hover boots, then use some RBA thing inside the ToT on the adult side in order to get the nocturne of shadow warp song. Or heck, any song.

As always i know nothing of OoT and i'm therefor most likely wrong i still gotta ask, How to do you use warp songs without an ocarina? I did read at an earlier page that you could somehow play on a bottle or any item, is that the main idea here? Or can you just reenter the forest after escape to get it?

And now i know that i'm wrong again but still have to ask(how will i ever learn otherwise :P), if you have hoverboots, why do you need a song? I thought you could glitch past DoT with hoverboots only? I apologize for those possibly really stupid questions :P

As long as you have an item in a bottle then you can play most items as an ocarina even if you never obtain the ocarina. Have the bottled item in your hand, backflip, and while in air press the C-button that has the bottled item, then the button of whichever item you would like to play as the ocarina and you will pull it out and start playing it. About the hover boots, getting them as a kid takes a ton of bombchus and time in order to get them. He was saying that it could be faster to do whatever trade sequence you need to get whatever item needed to RBA a warp song to get out of the ToT instead.

why not just savewarp past DoT? I thought it was confirmed to work. Get down to half an heart and jump oob to die. Save and exit the game and reload...

Yeah but I think this is referring to a TAS which in this case you can't savewarp

Not only that, but you still spawn on the master sword side according to SDA. And my above question is inherently dumb wyster because I have not had a lot of sleep this past week. You can notice this in some of my recent posts.

Why is there a rule against savewarping? I thought any technique was fair game.

At SDA, savewarping is not allowed in Single Segment runs. At TASland, the mupen that allows record resets was rejected because it resets the emulator, not the ROM. I am going to slay something cute if I have to explain this incredibly easy to memorize fact one more time.

No rule. Just that it's impossible wothout reset recording. I think he meant to say deathwarp, anyway. And some guy at SDA said that deathwarping puts you back behind the DoT unless I read this thread incorrectly..

Someone should test this. But I think Manocheese was mistaken. While continuing after a Game Over probably puts you back with the master sword, saving and quitting and then reloading the file should put you on the other side, as it is no different from a savewarp.
