But you can't save and reload in a SS, or in a TAS (so far, since a mupen that records resets the way the judges want has not been made yet.) So it's still no go.

I bet if you spent as much time trying to put real resetting into the emulator as you do finding ways to avoid resetting, you'd have figured it out by now.

Well, it's a really good thing I know about programming then. Yeah, I think I see. Gimme 2 weeks, I'll have a version out that records reset the way the judges want, AND it'll be more synch stable to boot. And it'll have 1 universal plugin that renders all games accurately. God, I have no idea why I didn't think to put my 100% existant computer skills to use in improving Mupen... my mistake, I guess. Warning: Sarcasm Detector (tm) not included, please purchase separately.

1) you could use a sarcasm detector yourself. 2) even if he wasn't being sarcastic, reread his post's "you"s as plural "you"s meaning the OoT/N64 Tasing community and not "you"s as in "you, Comicalflop,"s Edit because I don't feel like making another post: my first point meant "Haha at your use of a sarcastic rebuttal, however, the post you replied to was, itself, sarcastic, and made by BoMF, so your disclaimer mentioning a Sarcasm Detector (tm) sold separately was ironic/amusing". Oh, and I wasn't confused... I think. ...Damnit!

1. The sarcasm detector is referring to my own post, which is dripping with sarcasm more than a policeman's box of glazed krizpy kreme donuts. 2. You're making me confused, so I assume you're confused too because confusion loves company. I mean, his post was directly after mine, addressing my points, so it's aimed at me, right? But we don't want this thread to mirror the idiocy that is Super Lameoid's, so lemme just say I think that out OoT TASers have a good idea of what they're doing and we should expect a spanking good TAS from them.

It would be even better if we worked hard to learn how a Nintendo 64 resets!

Maybe someone should ask acryte for confirmation that the DC superslide can be done without dying... Also there is no way to RBA anything on the Quest Screen except a heart piece when you are a child because you need adult trading items to do it. (the only one you can get is an odd mushroom from the gerudo valley chest)

Well if you let go of R during the cut scene, you fall into the void. If you wait until after the cut scene and let go of R, you fall through the ground and die. I tested it for an hour or so but I guess I'll ask him

and excuse my noobiness yet again, but why can't you just press "no" when it asks if you want to continue playing when you die after falling into the void at ToT?

I've learned that when it comes to TASing (and many other things) if it seems obvious, its probably been tried. This was mentioned a couple of pages ago, I think. In great detail. You end up back in the ToT Master Sword chamber when you die.

Backwalking/sidehopping being faster than rolling, or going through the door of time early... You'd think that those things would have been found out sooner than 10 years after a game's release :)

well comic, what about the current tas who uses a deathwarp??? and im pretty sure you end up in the entrance of the DoT. there was this video where someone rolled past the DoT long time ago (llong before N64 tases were even possible) and he used an emulator and some cheats, just to show that there is a weak spot. and he said you could savewarp past the DoT so yeah, it is possible...

I don't have OoT on console, but if you reset, wouldnt it take you to the main menu screen where it tells you to press start? From what the mupen+reset author showed with super smash bros, it went to the start screen. Is that considered a full reset or a soft reset?

I have to start explaining stuff better =/ I meant pressing "no" when it asks you if you want to continue playing. that returns you to the start menu, and after you select the file, you should spawn at the default AL spot, which is ToT, outside DoT. it has probably been tested, I asked mostly out of curiosity.

Yes, I tested this last night and it puts you at the start of the ToT when you reload the file. It begs the question of why people are getting worked up about how to return to the start of it when this simple solution is obviously possible.

Has anyone really tried to jump slash through that door in ToT as child so you can skip all 3 stones? You can jump slash through other cracks like it, seems like it's worth some serious testing.

I am pretty sure that people have already REALLY tried that already. What *you* need to do is REALLY think of a new suggestion that people haven't tried yet that might be helpful, rather than suggesting something people have already tried before numerous times with no legit success.
So are you still upset I suggested this?

Because if something is obvious, its probably been tried and no one wants to ask if it has been tried. On that note, you can RBA items to get other items right? So what do you get if you RBA the odd mushroom?

Well, I guess sometimes its just common sense that stops people from testing things. After all, who would expect that actually running backwards (or sidehopping) would be faster than rolling? As for the gaining enterance through the DoT early... I was unaware that getting wedged in the pillar was obvious? I thought the obvious thing would be to get enough speed to pass through the door (which is what I thought people were trying).

As far as I know, [possible-in-game] speed never made link go through anything he couldn't before, in OoT. It was always about the jumpslash (and damage boosts, N/A in ToT), and the so called "acute angle glitch" has been known for a while but was just never sufficiently tested on the DoT crack's right angle. Meh. Also I wonder why there was misinformation about not getting back to the other side if deathwarping by using the main menu is all there is to it. :/

I think Manocheese tried it and it didn't work and said that it wasn't doable on the SDA forums, and that's where everyone has been getting the idea that it doesn't work. If it really does work then it beats me what he was trying to do haha

Couldn't you also just save and exit at the DoT? or would the TAS not allow that because that would qualify as a full reset?
