Also the 100% run is also being reworked by Mp16 his progress so far is on youtube as well. The site is still quite incomplete so its not too much of a help yet EDIT: Ive been meaning to ask but how exactly do you get a ESS from a megaflip? Ive been trying for a while with no luck because all I get is a super slow ESS.

Mupen64+ rerecording for linux is still very experimental so its probably not a very good idea to rely on it. Here is the progress http://code.google.com/p/mupen64plus/issues/detail?id=58#c11

seems very incomplete, though I know practicly nothing about programming. I just hope they finish this asap so the run can continue. Are there anyone from the TAS-community working on the mupen+ stuff? I guess that would help a lot. So liek, is there any progress on the run? :D

Low% TAS Trick - Another reason OoT is so awsome

yep, hover boots are skipable ;) I've discovered silver Block skip and a few other tricks in order to make hover boots skipable a few weeks ago we will also skip hookshot, Bombs and hylian shield ;)

I still think a low% OoT run is rather pointless. A RBA run is effectively a low% run and to count every trade item as a percentage is just stupid and seems to be only implemented so that RBA runs don't count. You only have one at a time. All the items you had before are lost once you trade them in. So every percentage they might have been is lost with them. What ccounts is only the end of the run, not something in between.

slowking, item deletion shouldn't lower %, and as the game doesn't have an actual % the best way to go is # of items collected throughout the run also the RBA run gets a lot of items: -k sword -d shield -deku stick -cucco bottle -master sword -light medallion -hookshot -pocket egg -pocket cucco -cojiro -bomb bag upgrade -bomb slot item -quiver upgrade -wallet upgrade -strength upgrade -dive upgrade -odd mushroom -odd potion -poachers saw -serenade of water -nocturne of shadow -prelude of light -zeldas lullaby -broken goron's sword -forest medallion -shadow medallion -spirit medallion -light arrows -magic 29 items. the low% is definitely worth it especially considering the very interesting route and item list: -Koriki Sword -Deku Shield -Deku Stick -Zelda's Letter -Zelda's Lullaby -Cucco Bottle -Bombchus -Gold Scale -Ruto's Letter -Master Sword -Light Medallion -Magic -Mirror Shield -Spirit Medallion -Shadow Medallion -Light Arrows 16 items

He's basically saying that six of those items shouldn't count for percentage since they're just part of a fetch quest. There's absolutely no point in getting the cucco egg unless you plan on getting the biggoron sword, so the only percentage that counts here is whether or not you get the sword. 1%. I'm sure if someone made a low% run of sufficient quality, it'd get accepted.

except that several of those items have differing abilities and uses (poachers saw lets you get magic, while cojiro allows you to collect bombs)

I thought the kokiri sword was skippable for low%. And why do you need ruto's letter if you get the cucco bottle anyway and jabujabu is skipped? Maybe the letter is required for the gold scale but then my question is why would you need that? Aaaand why would you talk to zelda for her letter? I guess I don't know much about this game's low% route at all.

I must agree with bkDJ here. No point in getting the kokirisword, or rutos letter. What do u need those for?

Ok, it seems, that many people missed a few tricks, I've discovered past the last 3 month and are not really fimilar with the low% category! a low% RBA run gets MORE items than a low% run, that visits spirit and shadow temple even if all trade items count as one item ;) and in case if somebody wonders, all we need to beat spirit and shadow are a Sword, a Shield and Bombchus. That sounds sick, but it's true. no Hookshot, Hover Boots, Bombs etc. the kokiri sword is not skipable, because of DoT skip! you can do DoT skip with deku stick on B, but in order to get a deku stick on B you need to have a sword ;) we visit Zelda to get zelda's lullaby. It's needed to get magic and magic is needed to shoot light arrows! we get Ruto's Letter, because doing RBA with it gives us arrows, so we can shoot one light arrow without quiver and bow ;) here's Acryte's trick to get bombchus from spirit temple without slingshot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JiTW_bBtKk I've discovered a way to hit that switch without a deku stick, but we need deku sticks still to get a small key to get up to that room. maybe we'll find a way to skip deku sticks completely someday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODZGV5VSXlo here are all the tricks, that lead to hover boots skip: gerudo fortress gate skip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cyf7zvxCIXc&feature=channel_page entering gerudo's fortress without bombchus: hover method: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2cag5dzkv0&feature=channel_page mega flip method: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuDcK_3bPAM&feature=channel_page silver block skip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5l72HQ1uaE&feature=channel_page (newer version for GCN; game freezes on N64 and Mupen if you use bombchus in a void, so you have to use chaosv1's way!) Getting to the chus in spirit temple so you can skip the egg/cuccos needed for Talon. Ive done a bunch of things to attempt to skip them but as far as I can tell its a dead end. -Entering spirit temple from the mirror shield ledge requires explosives to blow up the beamos -Entering spirit from gauntlets ledge requires small key -Cant enter from the normal way w/o getting a small key that wont appear if you dont light torches with a deku stick -Cant get explosives from the well because you need either explosives already or Zelda's lullaby to lower the water and use kazooie's skultula clip. Unless something big is discovered, it doesnt seem like the deku sticks are going anywhere :(

Hunh...I just thought of something: I wonder if the fact that you only need to do the Shadow and Spirit temples is a nod to LttP, where you only need to finish dungeons 5 and 6 to get the mega bomb needed to get the silver arrows? Almost certainly not, but baseless speculation is fun. :)

That Mirror Shield as a child video didn't use the trick to move big blocks faster (i.e. letting go and grabbing on again to pull faster).

That was a lot more interesting than I thought it'd be. I figured the low% run would mostly be using tedious glitches to fly all over the place, but I guess since your resources are so constrained you can't afford to do many bomb hovers. I'm definitely more supportive of a low% run now; just have to find someone willing to make it. :)
