You really don't listen, do you? He couldn't use bloobs original rupee route, since that manipulation won't hex. So he did a suboptimal one himself. And he probably didn't get the water HISS to hex either, since it's very desynch prone and to my knowledge Bloob is the only one who ever got that slide to work to begin with. So he used a suboptimal method here as well. Just because he simply can't hex or directly replicate some small parts doesn't mean he didn't do it where he could.
Just because he simply could hex or directly replicate some small parts doesn't mean he did. You are making a pretty hefty accusation on this TASer. The burden of proof is on YOU to demonstrate where he clearly copied input. You've levied two accusations on this TASer, (fraud and theft), and have done nothing other than bray about it. I was hoping that TAS would spark discussion about differences and possible changes, not typical OoT fan vitriol towards the Japanese TASers. YOU are currently treading thin water. If you continue to throw around baseless accusations, I WILL deal with this issue.

Am I in court all of a sudden? Since when do I have to proof things on the internet? Fact is he did that in "his" Majoras Mask TAS. He hexed in most of Grunzs WIP. The play quality diminished drastically after he was out of WIP to hex. Fact is he doesn't use the TAS input plugin but a controller, so he can't pull of some of the things in this TAS. Fact is it looks like it was hexed or directly copied and people, who know OoT TASing better than I do, confirmed that. Ofcourse I can't proof it without the m64. But then we are not in court here so I don't have to. If we were in court and I was the prosecutor I could force him to hand the m64 over. But we are not.

It's generally a good idea to have proof before you accuse people of things, that way you don't end up looking like a massive special. "It looks like" is not evidence. It's conjecture. How do you know he doesn't use the input plugin?

"massive special" huh? I've never heard that before. Slowking: I'm more than happy to hear your side of things, but right now you've accused him of doing it without giving us any actual evidence of where it happened. Can you give us specific examples of where people "confirmed that" it looked "directly hexed or copied"? It's just not really clear to the average forumgoer yet where he actually did this. From what I watched of both videos it doesn't look like the input is that similar. What you're saying conflicts with what we see, so it's only natural we'd want you to show us WHERE we are mistaken.

Loved that sentence. I should have stopped reading right there. But it doesn't matter anyways: You just made yourself look like a giant dick and since you think you dont have to prove shit just because you are on the internet I guess we never have to listen to a goddamn thing you say again. Fine with me.

Regarding the copied input thing, I just skimmed through it and noticed only a couple of areas where I can be sure it was directly copied: DMT up until after the seamwalk, Gerudo Valley bridge flip (shame--that was a ton of work =[), and a couple of area entrances that aren't worth mentioning. Anyhow, I've been working on an improvement any%, and this time it's on the Jap ROM. I'll have a WIP posted fairly soon.

Any particular reason for the switch? Or is it the text thing again?

Yeah, I'd say less text makes a TAS more enjoyable. Also, the sound of sub-50 is pretty appealing.

Thank you for the switch. I agree that shorter text just makes OoT so much more enjoyable. The cut scenes were never intended to be that long. Also, it will save abeshi a lot of work if you do the run on the J version yourself. ;p

Given that we have previously published a JPN version of this game before, I can't imagine any reason we wouldn't be able to do so again. Granted, that was a controversial decision that didn't set well with many people, but I think if it's put forth by someone in our own crowd and is thoroughly optimized then a lot of that resistance will fade away. I certainly am excited to hear you're working on the game still. I'd figured the Zelda series was going to be stagnant for a while...

This run by Abeshi is nowhere short of amazing. Nice to see Abeshi making an effort and still uploading runs of OoT. His take on TAS-ing seems to be very different from parts of the community here. I appreciate that. My understanding is that he aims for the fastest time only. Using whatever methods available to him without explaining every move he makes. While it's normal that people here provide detailed descriptions of where time is saved and how, and where they copied old techniques and input, this does not seem relevant to Abeshi. (or maybe it's the language-barrier) I can respect his methods either way. Lets focus on the positive stuff guys. His runs are entertaining and makes more ppl watch OoT. Questions to the experts: (Bloob, Grunz, etc) Is there any new trick or routechange performed here which might help u in making new runs? Is it faster to skip the dekustick in Jap room due to faster text? Is there any major improvement allready discovered for OoT that abeshi did not use in this run?

Last missing Boss Key Skip finally in town: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89jL9HOLqwg&lc=V_W5TIQonOnlfUTVLIxdVbkUhD8nMLV-KuVNKKyLC2s&feature=inbox should save roughly 1 minute and 45 seconds of bloob's TAS.

I've restarted the TAS competition: http://forums.zeldaspeedruns.com/index.php?topic=862.msg13805#msg13805 Quite a few non-TAS speed runners plan to submit a TAS for this task and swordless link also said he'd take part, so there's really much competition this time. Would be cool if some more people would show interest in this, especially because this task offers a lot space to create a crazy route. No need to be experienced in OoT TASing or TASing in general, it's just for fun ;)

sry, for double post. I've just thought about doing a low% TAS. The definition of such a category is beating Ganon with the lowest amount of items in your inventory possible. it would be very different from both the MST category and any% category. Most people actually think, that low% would be very similar to the any% category, because it seems obvious, that using RBA to skip the whole adult part is the best choice. Fortunately, it isn't due to RBA giving you many items, you don't even need. Just a rough explanation of the route: - I'd go to the spirit temple as child to obtain the Mirror Shield in order to skip the Hylian Shield. Mirror Shield is needed no matter what to beat Twinrova. - Bombs are skipped and everything is done with a huge amount of bombchus, which are refilled with RBA using a small Poe as the C-right item. - Both Spirit and Shadow Temple are cleared without the Hookshot and Hover Boots. - As I want to skip the Requiem of Spirit, I'd have to go through the desert twice. - Thanks to having a lot of Bombchus I'd be sliding almost everywhere. So my question is if there's actually any interest in such a run and most importantly would tasvideos accept this as the 4th category (3rd is 100%, which will never be done) for this game?

I'm not exactly sure it would be all that entertaining, you're gonna have a lot of lengthy hovers.

I would be interested in seeing it, but I can't tell if it's gonna be an interesting watch.

There's exactly one hover and that one is done as child link in the spirit temple to skip past the silver block and reach the adult side. The whole purpose of this is to skip the deku stick completely, which is needed in the child side. Shadow Temple would be done without the BK skip as well due to mupen being not able to handle bombchus in voids.
