Hate to be that guy, but shouldn't this run be posted in the "Speedrun Competitions" thread?

A single run is not a speedrun competition, nor is the run in question created or planned within this site. So no.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Just a simple question, dudes. No need for replies like that. Besides, didn't Cosmo stream an 18:51 the other day?

Ok, sorry I replied that way then. I meant it in a polite way and I just wanted to save you from possibly getting snapped at by other people. I've learned that over the years that frequently happens in these forums...

how many sticks would you need for a swordless TAS?

It seems that getting the sword is still faster for TAS

Since there is no swordless TAS, how can you actually say that? And by the way, the actual speedrun WR is a swordless one...

Skipping the sword is faster for non tool assisted since you can't abuse all the small timesavers the sword offers you as much. It is close though so I might be wrong, in that case I am sure bloob or Grunz will correct me.

I've shown already that skipping the sword is 10 to 15 seconds faster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSRn5A59ji4 TAS will still use 4 sticks like RTA (Grunz's idea for preserving sticks didn't work out).

Thank you for replying on this issue Bloobiebla. I did see the video earlier when you posted it. But there are some slides from the current TAS (where you used the sword) not shown in the comparison. For example the slide from zoras river to kakariko village through hyrule fields and the slide into the cutscene outside the great dekutree. The latter doesn't seem to work with a stick? I would also like to note that you only collect 3 sticks in the comparisonvideo. Thanks again for replying, it's nice to finally hear the results of the experiment from grunz to save sticks, even if it was unsuccessfull. If the difference really is 10-15 seconds then that is pretty huge.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm only a spectator of TASes, nothing else), but I counted 4 sticks: The first at the beginning of the run, instead of going for the sword, you go buy one stick. You break the same stick when you go from Zora river to Kakariko village, the same way you use the sword in the actual TAS. Then when you're back in Kokiri forest, you go buy 2 sticks (reason why you collect 60 rupees, for shield + 2 sticks), and pick the last one inside Deku Tree, so they're four.

Thank you for the correction. You are right. He did collect 4 sticks in the comparisonvideo.

The DT cutscene trick is possible with a stick, but you don't run very far without breaking it. Then HF -> Kak is slightly faster with a stick. They should even out, more or less. Grunz's idea was indeed to crouch stab recoil without breaking the stick. As far as we know that is only possible on enemies. Edit: You actually can get the optimal boost into the DT cutscene without breaking the stick. It just requires an extremely precise position and angle.

Great! Then swordless is pretty much guaranteed to be faster. Do you have any plans on working on the new TAS?

Ok here is a question. Why do your gauntlet colours change when doing rba and does the exact value change to when swiping the bottle to pick up the fish. I hope you guys and gals understand

No i am not colour blind. I am asking basically if someone can make a gameshark code to change the colour.

Yes, a Gameshark code that changes the colors can be made. No surprise there. If you just want to look at them, manually changing the values in RAM should be easy enough though. Scroll down to Pocket Cucco, and a bit further to Colored Gauntlets here Creating such a GS code (that doesn't mess up parts of your inventory) would be pretty decently difficult, and considering how little use there'd be for it, I really wonder if it's worth the effort though.
