Did you reach the surface before falling down the waterfall? If so, that might be the reason why the owl talked to you.

Well that was based on the run I uploaded a month ago. It must be possible to miss the owl without leaving the river possibly by diving before the waterfall.

No, Lake Hylia was chosen because of the required Golden Scale and bottle as well as the convenient owl warp to Hyrule Castle.

Well, in the worst case scenario you're just going to have to go back to earlier sections of the run, redo them, and hex-edit the new inputs into your movie file.

After looking through the thread and asking some friends, I still can't figure out what's wrong with this thing. I know that some people out there can run this rom with the same plugins as me, but for some reason, my Mupen shows everything all crappy-like. Like... the Great Deku Tree is completely black except for his eyebrows and mustache, and the ground is either black or invisible. Please, can someone help me figure out what's wrong? This is what most of the game looks like to me. -.-; Edit: Fixed the problem, so the pics are coming down soon.

My first guess would be: What's your video card?

It's an NVIDIA GeForce MX 440. Now that I think about it, I need to go see if there's a driver update, but what should I do if that doesn't work?

That should be plenty. I'm running MOOOOOOPEN fine off of integrated graphics. Are you sure you downloaded the right version of mupen?

Did you let the game load (at least until the Nintendo64 logo appeared) before playing the movie?

Just testing the new driver... which seems to have changed a few minor things, like there's now a big blue box around the "NINTENDO" -.-; I hate it when it's something simple like that. A little bit less lag, too. XD Guess I'll remember this next time, huh? >>; ^.^;;;

Dunno why, but the "market scene" doesn't seem precise for me.. Just looks like a very fast speedrunner, but not like a TAS.. =/ Although, the run is fine ;)

I was looking over the TAS/Speedrun Wiki thing of what you guys are generally going by for the run. Sorry, this is a bit off topic, but why dont i see the Water Temple on there? Do you not need to get anything from it for the 'rainbow bridge' to work?

This run works perfectly so if there is an error it's your fault, and sorry but I don't know how to help you.

How about you read the thread? This was talked about in the first few pages.

This kind of reply is a huge pet peeve of mine. What is it with people and being rude to strangers for no reason? Strate, I'm not an OOT expert, but some sort of sequence break has been discovered, letting you bypass a number of temples. Zurreco is probably right that it's described in more detail earlier in this thread.

I'll give you the facts and let you figure it out. 1. The Forest, Fire, and Water Medallions are REQUIRED in order to learn the Nocturne of Shadow. 2. The game's programmers (wrongly) believed that playing the Nocturne was the only way to access the Shadow Temple. 3. A difficult series of tricks discovered a few months ago have enabled skilled players to enter the Shadow Temple before any other adult dungeon. Now, try to think like a programmer. How can you check that certain item requirements are met in the most efficient way possible? However, from now on, I kindly ask that newb questions be kept to a minimum. It'll all work out in the end, so just wait and see.

Please elaborate. How can this section be done more efficiently?

Have you looked into hex-editing? If that doesn't work, and you really have to redo all that, here's a summary of corrections: General tips concerning backwalking - You want to backwalk in a straight line. No "diagonal" backwalks, and try not to hit walls and then make adjustments later. Requiem of Spirit - You can play this MUCH faster. It should sound almost like a blur. Spirit Temple - A, B, A, B (rapidly) on the dialogue. Preserve the deku stick jumpslash on the Armos until the Iron Knuckle by not doing any jumpslashes with your Kokiri Sword in between. This means doing something else in the room with the Anubis. Hyrule Field - I'm pretty sure your backwalk to Lake Hylia can be improved somewhat. Zora's Domain - Collect the Deku Nut in the pot by to the sign pointing to the King's Chamber and use it on Barinade. Zora's Fountain - Try to roll into Jabu-Jabu instead of jumpslashing, like AKA said. (AKA, can you please elaborate on this?)

Gotcha

There is only a certain speed which I tried, once I get there Ill let you work on that one. I tried before but no luck.

Why the A, B, A, B? And in which dialogue? And again ill let you handle the jumpslash with a sword because I could not figure that out.

Yeah, it could

Check

Where on Jabu do you do this?
