http://youtube.com/watch?v=dLpuU_n799Y Sorry the video glitched but the important part is, how i didn't triple jump, i just long jumped and side flipped Probably saves time for the cage star

I've been working on a new strategy for lost penguin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9AVTyiAFGI I dont use frame advance or anything huge, so AKA or FODA or Rikku should try screwing around with this and get it really fast

Its a nice strategy although I seriously doubt if it even come near to the usual strategy. I tried the cage star from earlier, and it saved about 5 frames which is approximatley 0.167 secs faster, but I couldn't for the life of me get the rest of the game to run in sync even when I sacrificed frames because of the electric balls in Bowser #1, I also tried screwing with the camera and that didn't work either.

it will be faster if you FODA'ize it or AKA'ize it. I can't TAS for crap.

One of these days I hope my name gets verbed. I can see it used in some online deathmatch... "L0Lz!1 U got 4STER0\/\/N3D!!"
This signature is much better than its previous version.

it'd be interesting to see silent_slayers if you can find any alternate star methods that are as testable as this one.

How about kicking the first platform on your way down so that you bounce over to the second one?

Well, I've officially restarted the run, and I'm onto JRB; I'm hoping to have JRB done within a week.

Okay... I found a new glitch AKA you should really look into this if you can get this perfect.... You might be able to get to the elevator and lap it! The Pole Glitch - BitFS Basically the pole goes into the ground and Mario can just BARELY grab it...But I can't explain how he flies up so high but anyways, Heres my new glitch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xT71wYq3vGI

Very nice. Is it possible to hex-edit it in?

WTF? How did you do that?!
TASing or playing back a DOS game? Make sure your files match the archive at RGB Classic Games.

Could I get a more full explantation of this please, I'll delay my run for a bit to try it out since its no problem hex editing the rest in. It probally saves about a second.

It's really simple, Double jump ( Other kind of jumps maybe? ) Under the hexagon platform thats just under the pole, and mario flies to the top.

Well, JRB is done... Enjoy: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3538/SUPER%20MARIO%2064%20%28USA%29%20-%20MRROBERTSZ%20-%20CCC%20TAS.m64 I appreciate any comments, contructive criticism, death threats, etc. I timed the applicible stars, and from what I got, they matched FODA's time. If anyone could recount, that would be great. Unfortunately it looks pretty boring, but at least there's a small alternate strategy. After JRB, what's better to start with: PSS or WF?

This definitely seems like a better option than a 70 star run. This segment here, however, didn't allow you to deviate much from FODA's strategy (other than in the last star). Hopefully this will change and it should be worth looking forward to.

You were one frame slower in getting to the door at the start compared to me, and I don't beleve that wall kick strategy at the start is the best method for getting in JRB painting room. Although its not fully conclusive there appears to be several timing stroke errors in what you're doing, timing strokes are actually pretty simple you hold A for as short as possible then release it for one and then iterate that process over and over, althogh towards the end you might want to hit A on every other frame in order to get a burst of swimming as you exit the water/collect a star. Also what was one of the big time wasters is that you kept saving after every star causing a 0.25 secs of time loss which is a big deal when you add up every star. Overall from what I've seen, it looks promising, but remember to do constant frame comparisons to make sure you don't lag behind any of the times since its fully expected that you match/beat every comparable star, also any stars from the 16 star run should be directly compared to my current submission.

Well, I'm not doing the stairs BLJ again, but it is worth it to restart the level (after the ship star) and not save after each star? You said the swimming wasn't the best it could be? Except for the very first part, I'll redo everthing as many times as it takes to get the run as good as possible. And for further stars, most of the routes would be the same (because they're the fastest)...if anyone has any better ideas for some good new strats that won't be longer than FODA's, they would help a lot in making the run more entertaining.

Okay, I decided to restart from the end of the first star to get better strokes and not save at the end of star...Hopefully it won't take a week like last time.

Well, I redid the level starting from the end of the first star, this time without saving. I also tried to make the swimming more even and direct. Look okay? Hopefully it'll be good enough to go onto WF. I compared the framerate from this one to the previous one, and this is almost 600 frames faster, so it was a good idea to restart. I timed the the Chest star, the Eel star, and the Jet Stream star, and they all seem to match FODA's times. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3564/SUPER%20MARIO%2064%20%28USA%29%20-%20MRROBERTSZ%20-%20CCC%20TAS.m64
