I'm blown away. Keep it up, this is exactly the kind of precision in the 120 star that I've been expecting. The surprise factor is also really nice, so I highly suggest a minimal amount of (or no more) WIPs to really surprise audiences.

Or, those who don't want the surprise ruined can simply refrain from watching the WIPs. I was considering doing this myself. Of course this requires a bit more willpower...

A "bit", yeah...whenever I tried to refuse to download and watch a WIP for a game I'm interested in, I succeeded in exactly...ehm, zero cases. Maybe I just have a weak will. @Andypro They're using the TAS Input Plugin which you can get here.

That was by far the most enjoyable JRB has ever been. Great job! It looks like you're past the point of simple mistakes that an audience will spot, but I'd still love to see WIPs every level or two. :)

Thanks for the feedback so far! I'd prefer to do without YouTube for now, but if someone would capture the WIP and put in on a hosting site, that would be great.

Shall do. Fires up mupen. JRB in all its incomplete awesome 120 star goodness File size is higher than I wanted, but I still haven't learned multipass and all that encoding pizazz (audio seems to deynch for me more often with multipass encodes than single pass.) Whatevs, enjoy.

Thank you Comicalflop EDIT : Is it me or the BLJ you do at the start of every star (starting with the second star) are different each time. It might just be me, and it's surely optimal, but it seems to take less time on some occasion.

I just watched the 120 stars WIP. I was surprised by the new trick and I have to say that it's amazing. Looks like "try to use BLJ everywhere" is the best way to improve time. I really like the new camera angle for showing the eel coming out of the sunken ship before Mario can enter it. Thank you mr_roberts_z & Rikku for this nice WIP! Keep up with the excellent work !

Thanks CF. What happened to the rest of the 100 coins, though? The BLJs are different because each one needed different aiming, angles, and distance. I think they're all quite optimal.

Bah! You guys don't know what you're talking about, JRB is a great level! This made it considerably more awesome. Nice work guys, looking forward to seeing more.

mr_roberts_z : It just seems that when you turn around to prepare for the BLJ, sometimes it seems like it's flowing, and other time it seems like Mario is "braking" to take it's position. Like in some it seems to turn around without losing speed, and other time it's speed seems to go to 0 to take it's position. If someone have a way to verify this very fast, I don't want you to lose time on this.

Wouter just pointed out to me that there's actually more to JRB than in my video. Oopsie! I'll try to fix that and make a new download link.

EDIT: that would do it. If anyone's curious, we redid the red coins route with another that was recommended to us, but it turned out to be significantly slower. I think it looks kind of cool, so if anyone wants to see if, I can put it on YouTube.

Well, what must have happened is I didn't watch in read only mode and pressed a savestate somewhere, and ended up with a .m64 that ended prematurely. *shrug* oh well, I have the full thing encoded now and trying to get it uploaded now.

Yeah... really a good run. Better then any of your previous runs. Till now I have no complaints, but... before you advance I'd like to remind you of the correct positioning of the camera (ESPECIALLY AT BOWSER LEVELS, whatever name these stages have). Spezzafer and FODA were very careful with it, and their runs got very high "ratings". As a rule of thumb, always keep the camera as fas as possible. If it's too close, we can't follow the all the action. Locking it sometimes won't hurt, either.
"Genuine self-esteem, however, consists not of causeless feelings, but of certain knowledge about yourself. It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success." - Onkar Ghate

I'd like to see it. @AKA and Silentslayers: I can see there is some improvement, but how much of an improvement is it?

@Chamale: Myn is 13.46, from the first frame after white screen, where you can see Mario until the first frame of when you see the smoke from Mario touching the star. Do the same timing for Rikku's 120 star TAS to compare. I havn't actually checked frame count, but I know without checking that mine is faster, as to how much faster it is, I have no idea. :P
