You can use my oft-copied and pasted 70 star list if you want. Most of the stars should be the same.
But was that created with a non blj route in mind?
Yep. I even started a (pretty suboptimal) WIP, along with the route. It's somewhere in this topic...somewhere.
Thanks!

Here it is. Good luck with this run. Should be easy and fun. I'd be glad to help out with anything you need, if you want.

There's one thing I like about the idea of a 70 star run; the stars that are 100 coins stars partners in 120 stars runs will be done separately. Stomp on the Thwomp and TTM Red Coins are good examples of this. Ask if you need any help.

This is a video I recorded long ago to check how solid are some walls. It shows that you can pass through some walls with high-speed. It may be interesting for a TAS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L02iexMZGBk

This is exactly what happened to me on Super Mario Sunshine.

Does this improve R_z's WIP? If so how much by? One thing, try not to overdo the camera changes, I don't mind much if the camera zooms out or rotates, but the constant switching from Lakitu >> Mario and vice versa is a little overdone.

Of course it beat's his WIP (assuming you're referring to his old 70 star WIP) Yeah i'll stop the frequent camera changing.

At least 5 to 10 seconds, by the looks of it.

That's funny, because I actually prefer the frequent camera changing. Huh.

My thought has always been it's interesting to demonstrate tricks such as quick camera changing and switching stars very quickly, but they should not become the standard of the run. If you find an interesting spot to do it, feel free to do so. Don't use it wherever you're looking for something to do. On that note, I fully support the creation of a 70 star BLJless run especially since the upcoming 120 star run will shatter most of the natural gameplay (which is equally good and bad.) The quality of gameplay in the WIP is also very good. I look forward to seeing future progress.

That was pretty good, but I think your Bob-omb King battle is improvable (pretty sure RZ found a faster way to grab him later on). Also, you should try using the first cannon you unlock to reach the second cannon. I'm not sure if that's faster, but it seems like it might be.

I like this WIP a lot. I'm trying not to watch the 120-star until it's completed, but this run looks quite promising so far. Will you be doing Mario Wings to the Sky without a cap somehow, or shall you come back to BOB after getting the wing cap?

Now that's a close one. You can get Mario Wings To The Sky without a cap and just with the cannon, but it takes multiple passes. However, with the C^ BLJ, one could get back to the island in the sky quickly, which might be faster than returning with the cap. Unfortunately this is a BLJless run, so coming back is the only option (if he decides to get that star)

I'm not even getting anymore stars in BOB :P I'm using robz's route. Also I'm redoing everything with less gay camera spazzes and more optimization. :)

That's more like, but I wouldn't reveal anything too deep until it's published.

Personally I'd say adjust the camera on every frame if you want to. I wouldn't worry about an arbitrary limit on how often you change the camera. Just focus on an overall artistic effect of your musing and do what is necessary to achieve it. Obviously reducing lag is good, if that's possible, but otherwise, just do what you want with the camera. This is your work, we'll enjoy the end result regardless.

No, we won't enjoy the end results if he taps R through the entire run.

I don't know, seems a bit closed minded. What if the timing of the tapping produces a visual effect that is actually interesting? Not saying tapping R is a good idea, but it wouldn't be impossible to make it work. I was thinking more along the lines of using the c buttons in combination with R to make a smoothly varying camera style that a human player couldn't possibly reproduce. Think rapid, but subtle.

Frankly I'd rather see where he's going rather than being exposed to a bunch of nasty angles.

I don't see the problem with the quick camera changes, to be honest. Without them, the video would need to be flagged as "contains speed/entertainment tradeoffs" or even rejected because a known optimisation isn't applied. Just my 2¢

Just to let everyone know I have redone everything up to the king bob-omb fight with good angles.

Thank you Kyman. It's cool to have different angles from previous runs, but it's also important that it doesn't distract from the overall action.

All stars are under 35 seconds. EDIT: whoops, got mario wings to the sky in there, and somewhere over the rainbow, which may be plausible, but you need to activate the cannon, so maybe not, actually I'll leave it in there. Replaced mario wings to the sky with snowman's lost his head. pity, now all stars aren't under 35 seconds :(
Measure once. Cut twice.
