There is a huge difference between "these minor things could be better" or "a little more optimization is required" and the run he posted. This shouldn't be called a TAS IMO. Should we be glad that he didn't include a death?

Indeed. I haven't been following progress on whatever the next run is going to be, but clearly there's going to be a lot more to it than just shaving a few frames here and there. Exciting!

holy crap, I followed m64 from foda test run to foda test run, and I have to say, that was the first video that has impressed me since, and it was just a single star... I look forward :)

Do you think that a similar tactic may be useful for the second star of LLL as well? Great find, whoever it was XD

Mm, there's a stark difference between "This is my first effort at a TAS; what do you think?" and "I'm submitting this TAS to be published on the site." Doing the latter as your very first action on the site is likely to make you some enemies (unless you actually legitimately made a good run, of course).
I'd say, the reason, why he posted his run is, that we tell him, how to improve his run, which strategys he should have choosen instead etc. he never said, that he want his run to be published on this site. back to the actual topic: nice work kyman and the guy, who discovered the strategy. is mrrobertz still working on the 120 start TAS?

I haven't spoken to robertz in many months. Last I heard he was getting the vanish cap. I personally think he's not working on it anymore. He's redone a lot of stuff, some of it wasn't too difficult because input can be hexed in, but there has been further improvements that have since been found which would require more redos.

who? me? I've always enjoyed making TASes, just i havent really had much time to spend on them recently. Also, trying to TAS Bomberman Hero was too much for me, i don't have the patience for that length project yet. But i might have a look around for a game that grabs my interest :P

Does anyone know the memory addresses for the components of mario's velocity and/or his direction?
