Okay Folks, I guess there's some argument or something about whether it should be included on the site or something, whatever, can we PLEASE have one? I don't have the capabilities nor skills to make Tool Assisted Movies, but I am an enthusiast nonetheless and don't give a damn about the bureaucracy of what is allowed for whatever reason. As I understand it, the number one rule is that a tool assisted movie is entertaining. The 120 Star Run is skilled and impressive, but I long to admire the selection of stars a skilled TASer would collect to most efficiently annihilate the game - completing it as SBM64 was originally intended. Think of the grade of competition for a run like that, so many variables!! In short, I love Tool Assisted Speedrun Videos. I respect Adelikat for running the site professionally and with a close eye to standards. However, I have always thought the 70 star run argument spoke for itself, and relentlessly ache for a movie like this. Any thoughts?

Don't forget to vote on it when it's done. I can see it being a close call if it should be submitted after the 120 stars run.

I think if it's a non-BLJ run, it has a clear objective, and a clear reason why there are 70 stars collected. Especially since the any% run, and probably also the 120 star run will use a lot of BLJs, I think a non-BLJ (70 star) run has gained more and more support. I don't think it will have too much trouble getting positive feedback.

I agree that the 120 star run will be slaughtered enough by BLJs that a 70 star no BLJ run will most probably be accepted as a category. The run has a clearly defined goal, and will most probably have support. The only thing left is to lock someone in a room with a computer and force them to do it so we can see the final product. So, if you're saying you'd like to see a 70 star run, you agree with most of us. If you're saying HurRy uP aNd F1n15h 7eh ruN pl0x, you have the wrong impression. Everyone here sets their own TASing goals and work pace. Since your argument seemed to have the wrong impression, I'll go ahead and assume you meant you'd like to see a finished run someday. EDIT: I'll add that I'd personally rather see the 120 star run updated first.

ya, definately not trying to rush anyone, i know speenruns take a serious fuckass long time to make. Last time I posed this question on this forum, however, i got the impression the run was deemed unworthy for some reason. Glad ppl are coming around, or that I had the wrong impression. To whoever may be working on this run, Godspeed!

I don't TAS SM64 anymore. Kyman and Brianstormer are working on the 70 star TAS.

I can't handle such a big project alone; I need help. I could optimize most of the star but I suck at one thing, side-BLJs. So I didn't really "quitted" since I never really "started". If Kyman is willing to help we might acheive to something good.

We seriously need to get some work done for our good friend Mario. So, I started many single star runs that we could hex in. I'm also working on an official TAS records playlist on my youtube channel. When we'll have discuss the final route, we will be able to start this TAS seriously, I guess.

Alright, well we already know JRB isn't until after metal cap. So I say: Enter the castle Enter BITDW Get the star, and beat bowser Side BLJ into PSS Do PSS (either star) BLJ into WF After WF is done, exit course (test if bljing out of the room is faster) and enter PSS Get the other PSS star Do ToTWC BLJ into CCM After CCM is done, exit course (test if bljing out of the room is faster) and enter BoB After BoB is done, do this After BBH is done, go to basement (I will add more once I think of what would be the fastest route)

Can somebody remind me how we know that doing BitDW first is faster than entering a course?

You make a great point, I just noticed something wrong with what I wrote. Here's what route makes more sense: Enter the castle CCM/WF Either exit course or BLJ from room into PSS After PSS, BLJ into BitDW From BitDW, side blj into PSS Do ToTWC CCM/WF Either exit course or BLJ from room into BoB After BoB, do this After BBH is done, go to basement *needs more*

BLJ into 30-star door. Collect the BitFS star and beat bowser. DDD LLL SSL MIPS #1 HMC BLJ on HMC stairs to the water-lowering pillars VCutM BLJ into JRB 3rd door

What if entering BBH, warping out and using the second key is faster than walking through the courtyard door after BBH and using the first key? *edit* You know, BBH doesn't have to be done with the rest of the "first set" (lobby) of levels.

Where does MIPS 2 play into that? How exactly would you get from DDD room to LLL without opening the star door? Wouldn't it be less traveling if you went to SSL then LLL then HMC? Where would secret aquarium play into this? After JRB? EDIT for sonicpacker: You still need enough stars for MIPS #2!

Yes, it is 50. 15 for first, 50 for second. And now you know, and knowing is a certain fraction of the battle that I can't recall.
