I don't know if I'm doing it right or something like that, but let me suggest something to TAS.

It's a Super Mario 64 full hack. I was thinking of TASing it, but I suck at TASing, so take it as a suggestion. If anyone wants to TAS it, it's fine!

Bowser in the Fire Sea. Uploading this to show that progress is still being made on the 0 Star.
Shoot to the Island in the Sky by me and mickey, in 14"53. Beats old WR by Brian, by 2 frames through sheer optimization.
We did a large investigation of the YouTube download of his "14"60" and noticed a few things. We also related what we noticed with Brian's claims. When we did this, we noticed inconsistencies.
For example, Brian claimed to get over -500~ speed. Judging by his great turn, his angle, and his inability to go through walls, we realized he in fact did not get this much backwards speed.
He also claimed to saved a frame somewhere in the middle of the BLJ. After watching it in frame by frame, we saw he was correct. However, we also noticed a frame was taken out somewhere near the beginning of the run. We watched carefully and saw this was the only frame he took out, thus his real time was actually 14"63. We have had this time for quite a while.
To conclude, Brian obviously edited out a frame of a standard 14"63 run with nothing special about it. He didn't even get close to saving that frame, far from it. We got somewhat close to 14"60, but it's just not reachable, since so many great TASers have tried it. In the future, we will follow the rule: If there's no .m64, it did not happen. Because anyone who isn't a douche bag will share their work.
This is not to say he doesn't have 14"60 at this time, but from what we have to work with, there is no evidence that he has it. So with no evidence, we can safely just continue on with the run.
Now with that all said, the 0 star has been vastly revived. We have done numerous new and great things. Some will be saved for the surprise factor, some we have shown, such as Bowser in the Fire Sea.
Thank you everyone for the support and advice to deal with our problems, and let's keep on going forward.
That was an honest mistake I made, and I was young and immature, so I didn't want people to see my dumb mistake. MOVING ON.

Hey guys,
A friend and I were bored, so decided to record a commentary for the current 0-star TAS published on the site. It's a bit of fun, so tell us what you think!
I'm looking forward to any and all new SM64 runs coming up, keep up the good work. I don't know enough about the technicalities of the game to provide much assistance, I'm afraid.
You can download the commentary here (right-clickable). Is there some way to get this added to the submission on the main site?
Cheers,
Franklint
Try to take this as constructive criticism.
Commentary should be discussion that enhances or adds value to the viewing of the material. Narrating the obvious is not good commentary. "He does a BLJ" was something that the commentary stated at one point. First of all, many people viewing know what a BLJ is and can infer that the TASer is indeed BLJing. For those others who don't know what a "BLJ" is, you neither defined it nor discussed it. You entirely missed both audiences.
You just sort of state miscellaneous thoughts/narrations of what is going on and really offer no details that one wouldn't observe watching the run without some guy talking in the background.
I was unimpressed and turned it off after about 3 minutes .
There is really no rule for this, as only a couple runs have had good commentary done. I personally think the author(s) (and perhaps the site to a minimal extent) should have to approve any commentary officially posted with any run.
Hey Kirkq,
Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to respond to each of your points.
First of all, I make every effort to explain tricks as they come up. After mentioning that a BLJ is taking place, at the start of the first Bowser course, I elaborate by detailing how the velocity increases rapidly, as the player accelerates off each step. I also talk about practical application later on, such as how this is used to bypass the endless stairs. As per the first audience you mentioned, how exactly would one cater to this group? I consider a commentary to be far more relevant to the second audience, as the first group probably knows just about everything there is to know about the tricks used throughout the run.
The commentary attempted to add humour and some light-hearted discussion to aid enjoyment. Perhaps this was misguided, as inspiration was primarily taken from JXQ's commentary on guanobowl's (obsolete) OoT run, and Comicalflop's commentaries on Sami Outinen's Banjo-Kazooie run and Bloobiebla's OoT run, all of which feature large amounts of amusing jackassery and merriment, as well as individual speculation and opinions. All three also highlight many of the tricks used throughout their respective runs, but (if I recall correctly) don't go into any extreme depth. Their purpose is to create some fun and inform the inexperienced viewer. If these were not models of good commentaries to follow, do you have any you would recommend so we can improve our method?
I'm sorry to have wasted the time you spent downloading! :)
I'd be interested to hear from other members. Is there a general consensus that the approach to this commentary is wrong? If so, I think I'll take it down to save us further embarrassment. Did anyone find it enjoyable or value-adding? At all? Opinions greatly appreciated, but please try to listen up to 5 minutes if you can.
Cheers,
Franklint
It was eerie to hear "z0MGe" again, especially when you pronounced it so badly. Other than that, I don't have much to add. Others will have better ideas than me. And yes I am a bad-ass.
It wasn't that much entertaining to me. Though that may not be your fault. TAS's tend to go too fast for explaining each trick, like the fast pole climbing wasn't even mentioned. I would like to hear more details about it.
However I like to hear the things such as that you can go to that place in mario kart, or that the 2nd boss fight is the only one that has lava.
Maybe you could add more on developpment of the run?
