Well that's something you don't hear in the SM64 community everyday! :p

I don't know if that could be useful, but it looks epic Kyman :) Behind Chain Chomp's Gate [BLJless] 10.90 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvSe-Q9F50o this is one star that looks better without BLJ, imo

Obviously, this WIP is just the product of many gathered efforts from both the Japanese and non-Japanese players and TASers. Most of the inputs come from Eru, snark and Mickey, though I'm not exactly sure of who did what. So far, the main .m64's rerecord count says "327905", but the real count is truly over a million, since many hexing and side-work were done. On a side-note, the last 3 BoB stars aren't part of the real WIP, I just added them. All stars are WR. The Japanese players are back in WF, doing the 100 coins star (because of the luck manipulation, this star couldn't be hexed). I hope you enjoy! I will leave the video as "unlisted", because I don't want my subscribers to think I've done this or whatever. ;)

I hope all of those authors stay in this, so when the monster is submitted the front page just gets broken to pieces. Beautiful WIP anyways. :)

Very nice. Here's hoping that there are no more huge improvements to be found. My favourite stars were: 'Wall Kicks Will Work', 'To the Top of the Fortress' and 'Shoot to the Island in the Sky' (the last one I had to rewind because I couldn't believe it).

Heh...the amount of time new improvements save is irrelevant to the Japanese TASers. They want it as perfect as they can make it, even if it means only a 1 or 2 frame improvement.

I really enjoyed watching this! It's amazing seeing the extremely high level of optimisation and effort each and every TASer has put into this so far. 'To the top of the fortress', the end of VCutM and BoB red coins were the stars I most enjoyed seeing :D I look forward to the far-off completion of this TAS.

Jesus, the final submission will have like 1-3 million re-records at that rate. That video was unreal. There was some obvious mind blowing optimizations (the flying for example), but also a number of very subtle ones that were equally surprising (eg/ twitchy movements while Mario was riding down a slope).

That was a great WIP. I couldn't believe 12.3 sec. on the Princess' Secret Slide; that's amazing! I look forward to the Whomp's Fortress 100 coin improvement (and the rest of the run as well).

Yes, we've known about it. You can do similar stuff with the JRB red coins (capless + bljless).

Apologies if this has been discussed before, but I was wondering, is it possible to make a 100 coin star appear in such a position so that you can collect it and another star at the same time? For example, let's say you get the 100th coin in BoB where the red coin star appears: could they both be collected simultaneously (I know this particular case probably wouldn't be useful for the TAS; it's just an example)? Anyway, nice WIP!

Offhand, I'd say no. The star for the 100th coin appears wherever the 100th coin is collected, whereas the other stars appear at designated locations, usually off by themselves. As I recall, the red coins stars aren't particularly close to any other coins, and I don't remember any other stars close enough to coins to grab the 100 coin star and another simultaneously. Now, the eighth red coin being coin number 99/100 collected, that is certainly doable, but the usefulness would be dependent upon the level.

Doesn't this happen if you do? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrSyQqTfNOI Also, while searching for that video, I randomly saw this other one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqUIWdcUbpM Maybe it can save some time. I like the new 120-stars WIP, by the way.

I don't know, I think if done the way described by Korzic the outcome could be different but that's a cool vid, didn't know about it

At 13:17 in that 120 star WIP, could they have ground pounded the pillar earlier? Since you have to wait for the water anyway, there is no reason to hit it on the far side.

What are you talking about? They hit it as soon as they could after the long jump ended...
