Oh, sorry... I'm still figuring out how all this works... I'm making a YouTube video now.

I found a video of how to get the cage star without cannon/owl. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqvIP28jVQc

Dammit, I was gonna make a video of that right now… I didn’t know Petey already made one… Anyway, that’s the Whomp method. It’s looks sort of faster, but it takes time to lure the Whomp into position.

you could also try not making thwomp walk so far, pound him, get to the top of his head and then long jump. Maybe.

Nah, you'd have to lure him to the edge anyway. The distance is too far to long jump. The two videos shown are pretty much the only ways.

I'll be able to do it much faster than whats shown in the video, because I'll lure him less distance then perform a double jump before he lands then get the triple jump as soon as he hits the ground. OK, I know what I'll do next 1. CCM (get 2 usual stars) (enter normally) 1.1. Use Lobby glitch into WF 2. cage star; blast away the wall star; shoot into the Wild blue 2.1. Head for Basement and into SSL 3. SSL (Get usual 2 stars) 3.1. Head for LLL 3.2. Red coins; beat the bully 4. Continue as Normal Does that sound right?

Actually, you can make it to the star in the cage using a triple-jump + wall kick Here's a video of it. http://download.yousendit.com/8A30FA7D6341AFBE So what you can do is a triple-jump + wall kick to get to the green platform, then use another triple-jump + wall kick to get the star.

That looked super cool, I'd love to see that in a TAS.

I suggested this in the topic a while back... In fact, over a year ago! See:

Hmm, this begs the question, in Whomp's fotress, is it faster to reach the caged star by tripple jump wall kicking (right near the spinning bridge) onto a spinning green platform, and then triple jumping into the cage? That skips opening the canon, but then you have to still open it for the break the wall star. Is it even possible to triple jump the spinning green platform (I can't really test this out, since my keyboard hates Mario, even slowing down). If getting to the caged star by triple jump is faster, we still have to open the cannon, so triple jumping has to be faster than the time lost by the cannon opening and flying through the air. I'm not sure how likely that is... It might be a stretch.

Cool never new that it should save time overall now that I don't need to talk to Thowp and lure him over.

It was just a joke... A hilarious one, at that. EDIT: Calling my previous joke funny was a joke in itself; I know that it was incredibly unfunny. I will stop making jokes now.

That was hilarious! "Come here you stupid hunk of rock. I'm going to use you as a diving board!"

Declaring your own joke hilarious is like declaring yourself the sexiest thing on two legs: it doesn't matter what you think, it's what everyone else thinks. I just watched your latest WIP, AKA. Pretty impressive. Just out of curiousity, how much time does it cost to get the 8 red coins in B1 compared to just heading straight for the end? It looks like it doesn't cost that much time, but it requires backtracking and takes you out of your way, as well as requiring you to overshoot the pipe at the end. You could get to the end pretty fast if you could take the most direct route. Is it possible that it would be faster to skip them and pick up another star elsewhere?

I don't think, it costs that much time if you were to consider Extra time spent getting red coins - Time to complete stage normally. Also I need that star so I have enough to enter CCM, beucase its not quicker to use the lobby glitch for it although it should be quicker for WF.

I'd estimate it only takes about ten seconds more (excluding the star sequence)... First, there's going back for the first red coin, and then long jumping to the platform with the Amp and back. Other than that, everything's pretty much on the route. I'd say B1 is probably the most valuable star in a 16-star run.

Just thinking aloud here. Has anyone tried BLJing the first mound in the courtyard before entering the castle? And I don't think anyone answered why AKA doesn't always use the don't save option. And why can't the lobby glitch be used to enter the upstairs door? :(

Do you mean the top of the castle, I don't know what use it has becuase I haven't succesfully stored BLJ's on the castle grounds, it costs a frame to save the game so it doesn't matter what option you choose for the secret stars, if you refer to my link then you'll see why I can't use the lobby glitch to enter the upstairs area.

@bkDJ This has been answered like 1000 times before. Is it possible to BLJ out of the room of WF (or any other stage room entered with the lobby glitch) instead of entering the painting and exit?
