it should only take 18-19 seconds to get the BtB star, so you'll still be at least 23 seconds ahead.

Well here's all the current speedrun records of the levels. Althought the one misleading thing is that they stop timing when the the star is collected as opossed to activating the dance animation. http://www.student.cs.uwaterloo.ca/~cbright/sm64/startimescomp.html So I should be round about 42-(17 to 19) = 22-25 seconds quicker.

I think we should avoid acronyms for individual stars. I mean having 15 acronyms for the levels is enough but having to figure them out for 90 level stars is too much.

Nice progress, AKA. Your projected final time is shorter than i would expect. On the 120 stars side, i forgot to post the testing of snowman's land. it has been done for almost 2 weeks now... *sigh* good news is it's in video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0B65ToliaE it's just a test, comments are welcome.

Youtube says it's a private video and I need to accept a friend request. Is there a way to get around this?

Looks very good, but why did you skip the red coin in the 100 coin star? Or was that too out of the way? Maybe you could do more forward diving in the igloo?

If i got all red coins then the 8 red coins star would show up. What do you mean dive? before getting the vanish cap? it would perhaps make 2 frames difference if it was straighter. It takes a lot of time to optimize angles in this game (or any analog game i presume).

Pressing B when you're running. I thought it could save a few frames during the igloo straightaways, whereas you were just running.

Very good show FODA! The money bags might need a different strategy though.. that jumping looks too slow.... maybe circle a few times to get him appear and then kill? Losing your momentum there seems costly. I didnt know you could just duck into the igloo! Be sure the crawl around sometime later then... maybe on one of those rainbow carpets. Crawling needs to be featured somewhere...

I've just timed it and I'm roughly 15 seconds ahead after the red coins, although I need to redo as I'm 8 frames slower than Spezzafer, so the projected time would be around. 15:48 - 15:52 EDIT: I guess there is always room for a 70 star run.

I think your 16 star and FODA's 120 star are so good that a 70 star is trivial.

I disagree. A 70-star run would involve a different route and that alone would be interesting to see, although the routes in-level would probably be exactly the same...

Yeah 120 and 16 is enough (though a 1 star run would be even better :-) ) I dont think the different overworld route would be all that interesting but the optimal star selections might be... the problem is that the ingame stars would be too similar to the 120 run. Really 100% and any% are enough for such a difficult game though I am not opposed to a any% no-exploration glitch run.

I am in agreement with all of this save for any% no exploration/1 star, this I would not think good at all. I generally hate games that beat the game under 3 minutes using massive glitches and such, which is why I don't like Castlevania: CotM 5 min, Zelda: ALttP short version, Castlevania: HoD 0:33, or any other similar super decked out glitched run.

Honestly, a 1 star would be great just for completeness's sake. Should it obselete a 16 star TAS. Logically, it should, but I wouldn't like it. I wouldn't find a 1 star run very entertaining after I've seen it the first time. A 70 star run would be interesting. The overworld route would probably interest me the most, as the same star strategies would (or should have been) used in a 120 star run.

Well actually if the 70 star run included 100 coin stars they would likely be paired with a different level star than the 120 star run. Since the 120 star run would tend to pair them with the longest stars (which would be avoided for 70 stars). Yeah, zelda LttP has a any%, any% no exploration glitch, and (soon)100%. So I guess if someone wants to tackle 70-star they should, this way there will be TAS counterparts to all the runs on SDA.

A one star run is highly improbable. AKA already showed that it is useless to enter the second floor early. Unless there is a glitch that allows you to drop through the top of the castle into the third floor, 16 stars is the bare minimum.

The fastest theoetical route would be too somehow glitch open the door in the bottom of the castle and the get through the walls and use the invisible water in order to go straight to Bowser 2, I 'd estimate it would be a 5 min completion, I don't personally see a way to get into the second star door without Mips, but I'm optimisic that maybe one day the DDD level could be skipped.
