And you're totally invincible while sparkling. You can do a bounce on lava for example.

Just out of curiousity, does Mario's stars-out-the-butt triple jump actually help? For the purposes of setting a record on individual levels, are there any that could be done faster after getting 120 stars?
Yeah, check the SM64 part of SDA. IIRC, they have a couple of Koopa 1 records by Curtis Bright and Myles Bukrim that use the special triple jump.

Is it possible to implement this glitch somehow.

you don't get the special triple jump until you have 120 stars, so I don't think a TAS could implement it.

If a ts did, it would defete the purpose of most runs. It would either load from a savde state, or would have to have objectives beyond killing bowser3. Would end up as a concept demo if you were trying to show how fast you could get start after you get this powerup.

I am surprised that there is not a SM64 section in the game resources section of the FAQ. There are plenty of tricks and glitches in this game. Is anyone planning on adding this?

You can get to the roof and talk to Yoshi right when you start the game. Or does he not give you the special triple jump until you have all 120?

You can get to the roof at the start of the game, but Yoshi isn't there until you get 120 stars.

I don't think there are that many tricks on the game's engine to add a page for mario 64, but there are many applicable places for those few glitches... But that doesn't qualify for a tricks page, because it would either have 2 tricks or 200.

BLJ, C up when sliding, MIPs, Lobby glitch/ all the applications of BLJing, going into the level and swimming through water, going through the triangle slope and jump/diving (like in wet dry word to get to the underground city). I think that with animations it would merit a tricks page.

Yes, I've been thinking along the same lines as comicalflop. Many tricks pages don't have that much in them (Umihara Kawase, Chrono Trigger to name but a few) and an SM64 would easily have more content than this. I'm sure that because the runs are so popular and the game is so popular it is a page that many would take an interest in.

Hi people, I just wanted to congratulate FODA on that amazing run, and to ask if there's a higher quality version of the video. I'm making a snazzy DVD for an xmas gift, and 320 x 240 just doesn't do this justice! I would record a better copy myself, but I have two Macs and one PC that doesn't handle Mupen + recording very well... Any help would be appreciated ;o

Why don't you just download the already-made avi off bittorrent?

Because 320x240 is the size of the avi on bittorrent. vashmywindows, you'll probably want to ask Bisqwit if he'd has a higher quality version. As he's the one who encoded it.

I believe he doesn't. He ran it in 800x600 and encoded to 320x240 but he doesn't have an 800x600 file. someone, probably vash himself, would have to make a higher quality version using mupen

Problem is, mupen doesn't dump the sound at a proper speed, and it gets desynced quite fast, especially on this long video.

the video gets dumped at the proper speed though, and he didn't complain about the audio quality, so the sound could just be remuxed into whatever video someone else makes.

Well, I'm not sure how many people are interested, but FODA and I talked for a while, and I decided that a 70 Star TAS isn't worth it. However, instead of that, I decided to do a full CCC TAS. I think this is more logical because it has a main goal, so there'll be no arguing about shortcuts, BLJ, etc... Anyone agree? Anyway, I'm gonna work on a test run, and it should be done before the 25th.

For those wondering, I'm pretty sure that CCC = coinless, capless, canonless Looking forward to it :)

How many stars can you get like that? Is it enough (70) to finish, or will you have to BLJ up the endless stairs?

There are way more than 70 stars that you can get CCC. I don't remember the exact number but I think I remember like 118. Only one I can think of off the top of my head is the secret level on the side of the top floor opposite rainbow ride entrance. Even the "secrets" stars in wet dry world and the desert pyramid can be gotten coinless.

We were counting it, and IIRC, we got about 76... But the goal would be to get every one of them, so I'd BLJ anyway.

Here's the old topic for a C-less run. Perhaps the discussion should be continued there?

yes, anything goes, no arbitrary movement restrictions. the rules are clear: - touch no coins, ever - touch no cap switches - doesn't enter any cannon The objective is to get the most stars under those rules, and do that as fast as possible. The run should be obsoleted if: - someone makes a movie getting more stars, under the same rules. - someone takes the same ammount of stars, but faster. BKDJ: 115 is the number of stars without caps or cannons, but those take coins. 15 courses, each with 1 100 coin star and 1 red coin star. that's 30 stars right there that don't belong to a cccless run. not to mention red coins on cap courses, bowser stages and etc. I think this is a bit different than cless, this is cccless :) but instead of merging with that thread, i'd suggest creating the own thread for this run.

I'll give my nod to the run mainly because I don't know what it'll involve, but I wouldn't be too surprised if people start say "pointless, because its slower or less defined".
