the coins aren't put in a counter, and they aren't there when you look at the coin stats for a file. they are just health refilling coin-like sprites. :/

But they're coins... I think it shouldn't take any coins at all, even in the castle area. It's a coinless run.

It's impossible... I've tried every angle I could. Then again...those coins don't really count as coins, since the game doesn't add them into the memory once they're picked up........ Or maybe they do.
You can't collect those just like you can't collect any in PSS or you cant collect the red coins stars in the cap areas. Looks like lobby glitch is out... :-/ it's ironic that you don't get to show off your own glitch.

Right, so what would happen if....I took them?

I know, that's what's killing me. :( Plus, the run would be a lot less entertaining, IMO.

How exactly are the coins taken? on the first jump before attaching on the ground for the BLJ?

Yeah, in mid-jump, before Mario hits the ground again... I mean, the run is to get all the CCC stars, right? Not CCC the whole game... Think of this: after you get that big star after Bowser 3, Mario automatically dons a wingcap, which can't be changed.

Yea, that cap can't, but you can do it without taking the coin in the lobby. And I'd label it as "doesn't hit any cap switch" instead of "doesn't use caps".

Well if any future 120-star tas would be using the same lobby glitching, then I suppose it's not a HUGE loss that it can't be done in a CCC run. Still disappointing. the CCC-only star routes are what's important about this run.

Hooookay then, I guess I'll just have to start with BLJing into JRB.

I'm curious why this distinction... do you expect a good reason to enter cap areas without picking up any coins? I think it reasonable to just say that I dont expect mario to ever be shiny, transparent, or with wings out of his head. But yeah if you want to use that glitch you would have to manage to not collect those coins. It's not a huge loss to not do lobby glitch as the star selection wouldnt be any different... AKA and Rikku's runs both feature it too. EDIT Ohh I get it FODA. Is it because at the end mario flies off after beating Bowser?

AFAIK, a Coinless run means no coins AT ALL in the game. That means no Lobby Glitch this time. :( Oh, and FODA is right; Capless means "doesn't hit any Cap Switch". In the CCless challenge you're allowed to get the stars from the cap courses and use the cap that you start them with until it runs out, but obviously you can't activate the switch. So, you can use a special cap as long as you don't activate any switch. BTW, I'm ameba2 from the GameFAQs board. :D

Yep, I've already accepted the fact that I can't use the Lobby Glitch... Oh well, I can still BLJ into JRB...which I'm currently having a hard time with. And nice to see you here, Ameba.

I think you should do Somewhere Over the Rainbow before you do Big House in the Sky, as it makes more sense. Anyone watching this would think "Why is he going up there again, he already got the star." If you did the house star second, they would think something like "Oh, he's going to get the one on top of the house. Wait, what? That was so awesome!"

kirbymuncher has a very good point there.
Which run should I encode next? :)

I dont know. That would mean the second trip up to the house would then be "cleanup ". People would think... "ohh now he has to get that star he missed last time. " The other way people are left wondering "huh? why is he doing this again? I mean the first time was cool but why a second......... OMFGWTFBBQ!!!11!one!" Very surprising!

Okay... asteron has also a good point there. Now I'm all confused. Thanks a lot guys! :P I say we let mr_roberts_z choose. After all, it is his TAS. (And that way no one gets to blame me :P)

You make a good point there, but I'm still gonna do it last. Somewhere Over the Rainbow was ridiculously hard to do it the test run... It took over 800 rerecords (almost a third of the total), and I wouldn't really feel good about following it up with 4 rerecord star that people already know what will happen in it. I think it may be the most impressive star in the whole game, and I really wouldn't want to follow it up with a star as crappy as The Big House in the Sky. Plus, since this CCC star is so new, I'm sure very few people that aren't in the GameFAQs/TASVideos community know about it. Like you said, they'd be wondering why I was doing it. Since it's a time attack, they would know that it's obviously for a reason, and hopefully they'd be stunned once they see the BLJ, like Asteron said. At least, that's the reaction I'm hoping for. ;) BTW, that guy Hb2 a couple posts up was the one who found how to get the last CCC star.

There probably aren't any, but you should probably double check that there are no other points on either carpet ride that will get you up there, as it takes so long to get to the top of the house. Don't sweat not using the lobby glitch. You have to do what follows the guidelines.

I would make a 120 star run. If anybody agree with them ? But is the route the same or give a alternative way through the game ?

We know FODA's run is improvable. I don't know SM64 well enough to tell you where, I just remember it being said. I'd like to see you do it.

what would be hard to match is FODA's playing style and all of the many entertaining techniques that he did to keep audiences entertained. He specifically mentioned in the submission that he wasted frames to do things in a more impressive or entertaining way.

Oh, that's not what I'm upset about... I'm just kinda worried that, frankly, without the Lobby Glitch, the run will be boring... Should I do like FODA and sacrifice a couple frames to make it a little more entertaining?
