In the epic prequel to Kung Fu Kid, Wang is on a quest to get his beloved Kyoko out of the grasp of the nefarious Johnathan! Just who is Johnathan? Why, a floating pair of bright purple track pants, of course!
This was one of the first games to get released onto the SVC-1000 console, which was SEGA's first attempt at a home console, released the SAME DAY as the Famicom. The game plays similarly to Kung-Fu on the NES, wherein you ascend a tower while fighting hoards of bad guys and bosses. This game, however, presents you with mazes of floors you must navigate in order to reach each boss. After completing a level, the maze gets more complex and another boss is added, until level 5, when the game begins looping.

Tricks used

  • Jumping is faster than just walking, and you can initiate a jump one frame before touching the ground. Staying in the air as much as possible is a key to getting through the game quickly.
  • The AI for bosses is absolutely terrible. This is a blessing, however, as they are all incredibly cheap and can kill you without any effort. By positioning yourself properly, you can make certain bosses get stuck in a loop where they cannot hit you.
  • You can pass through the whip guy's whip while it retracts if you stand up within 3 frames of it passing your head, allowing you to walk up to him while he's recoiling.
  • Johnathan disappears 4 frames after attacking you, making it nearly impossible to ever hit him. You can bypass this by breaking his AI.
  • Certain tiles will break and send you falling down a floor. This is bypassed by taking one or two steps before jumping again to get ahead of the tile.
  • From what I can tell, Rev 1 has more easily abusable AI coding that makes them much quicker to beat.
The run has already been encoded by myself and can be found here: userfiles/info/28679700759914001

EDIT

Cancelled because what I thought was optimized turned out to not be. Re-making for re-submission later on.

Not optimized in the slightest. That first key, you obtain it on frame 1709. Meanwhile, I managed to grab it on frame 1619. You made it quite clear that you didn't use TAStudio to help aid you in this submission when I was looking over your input. Especially with all the mashing during lag frames. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Update: Round 1 Complete (1st frame of Black Screen) Lars - 6299 Me - 5771 I shall point out on the final phase at the top, I screwed up, but still managed to complete the first round faster. I ain't going to work on this anymore, I just wanted to complete a round, even though what I did too is not optimal in the slightest either.

Why, Lars, why? I can see that this is not your first TAS. You shouldn't be making these sorts of mistakes. Sorry, but it's going to be a No from me.

Lars, please take more time before submitting a TAS! It's possible to tell you didn't put much effort on this, and even the rerecord amount confirms it. I suggest you to spend at least 10 days or so optimizing this TAS as much as possible, and then submitting it again.

Obviously what I thought was fairly optimized turns out it wasn't. I actually spent a good amount of time on this but obviously I missed some things. This was actually my third time making it and I thought I had figured it out but Spike shows that there's obviously more work to do. I'm going to go ahead and get this cancelled and post an updated version later.
Enter the Matrix is a piece of garbage but I'm gonna finish it if it kills me.

The best is to post in the forum instead of submitting this. :) I did the same mistake. Don't give up. ^^
