It would be intresting if we knew exactly how many missiles or shots we need to kill a boss. This would far optimize the path by not picking up neccecerry missile packs as we have 100% accuracy.

I've never played this game before. What counts as percentage at the end of the game? I saw you picking up items, but you said you were going for 0%. Or do they not count because they were part of the old suit?

Only Energy Tanks, Missle Expansions, and Power Bomb Expansions count toward the percent. Any other powerups, including the first time you get missles and power bombs, don't count.

Well, the bosses that require the most missiles are Nettori and Nightmare(face mask off). If anybody is up for checking these bosses, then go for it. I'm not concerned with how many missiles these bosses take at the moment. And keep in mind that the trick used to skip the "unskippable" missile tank should probably be used in an any% run. Not for the 100% run though, because the missile expansion will disappear.

I took a break for a while so that I could take my finals at school. I was planning on posting the update when I was entering Sector 3 (PYR), but I may as well put up what I have now. http://www.kraftfam.org/~david/fusion0percent.zip I am just after the Serris fight. Savestate 4 leads to the navigation room just before Sector 4 (AQA).

Small update. The movie file in the link now goes to the entrance of Sector 3 (PYR).

The question that's more important is if you would save time by using missiles instead of charged shots. How many seconds does a missile pack take to pick up, and how many can it save? How many missile packs are picked up before the time gained per pack is lower than the time lost when picking it up? My guess would be that getting the two first missile packs (before Arachnus) would be optimal for an emulated run.

Paused has asked for an update, so the movie file has been updated. No new savestates, but the file continues until I reach Mega Core-X.

That was quick! I should ask things more often. Thanks for the update, and same support etc, as in the other topic.

Yes. I've just now entered Sector 5 (ARC) for the first time. I had to do a little hex-editing to fix an error I made early in Sector 6, but luckily for me it didn't desync afterwards. The movie file has been updated.

Uh… Links seem to be dead. :| Both …/Fusion.zip and …/fusion0percent.zip. And I'm sure I've already downloaded one of these before.

Well, we've been having weird internet stuff going on for the past week or so. This morning the connection was simply gone. Right now our home address is also not pinging (IE probably no internet connection.)

hate to post in a 5 1/2 old month thread in a way, but somewhat out of boredom after watching the apparant frozen-progress tas of megafrost's, since he was up to sector 5 and it finished, i thought i'd play around a little. www.geocities.com/atmaweapon_x/mf.zip (contains 3 vbm's) first is an impossible to do realtime sequence break that's probably slower than coming back later and getting it, not to mention useless. <-- turns out you can do it on a cart, but using a different method that's slower. oh well, almost thought i had something there :P the other two are the normal and an alternate route which could be faster for getting the ice missile upgrade. I was almost contemplating making a tas of this game when i saw megafrosts run. pretty much made me go 'uh, no. on second thought, i'll pass', given how precise and awesome and stuff it was.

Well, hopefully the slacker would stop playing his stupid games and work on this more. I've been pressuring him on a weekly basis, and he slowly makes progress. Given that it's been more than 5 months since his last post, I can guarantee that he's made a little progress. Anyways, I'll use this as a reminder to remind him to work on his run. Hopefully I'll remember to look at your VBMs when I get home from work tonight, but I highly doubt it. (I haven't even gotten to see the new Mega Man 6 run nor the 100% Mega Man 7 speed run.)

Movie file updated. Atma, I've taken a look at your movie files. The power bomb expansion video is neat. Too bad it's useless though(especially in a 0% run). As for going to the ice missiles backwards...well, I think I'll let my movie file speak for itself. :)

I am thoroughly impressed. definitely another reason to not tas a game you dont know practically anything about (i mean sure, i've beaten it, but damn that's whacky frame perfect stuff I wouldn't have thought of) :P

Love it! I was kinda confused when you just stopped, but then I realized it was the end of the movie. :P And yea, it was awesome how you got to that data room the back way. Can't wait for the next update ;)

Very impressive stuff, it was so pleasant to watch that I went somehow disappointed when you suddenly stopped. %) P.S. BTW, I'm very glad you're working on it again, Megafrost. It seems Fusion will eventually get beaten soon. :D
