This hack of Megaman 4 is different from the original Megaman 4. Weapons have new attacking mode, more hiden tools hide in different enemies or places, and we can also read a more interesting story. The enemies in this hack are originated from all of Megaman games. In this movie, I would show more tips and performance.

Noxxa: Judging.
Noxxa: There has been some criticism in the discussion topic about a few aspects of this run. For one, the goal choice got mediocre reception - while the movie does get all items, it does not get a 100% hero score at the end of the run, due to missing out on other bonuses. Therefore, this category does not qualify as 100% completion. Also, the choice to use version v0.02 rather than the latest v1.01 was criticized, even though this movie uses time-saving glitches that are patched out of the later releases.
The general consensus appears to be that a movie of this sort of category should, for the sake of completeness, achieve the full 100 points of hero score at the end of the run. It should also use the latest version, at least for that category.
Fortunately for this movie, however, it does have something else going for it: it's actually faster than the currently published any% movie. Because of that, this movie can be considered as an any% record, and while the latest version is preferred overall, it's not a requirement. As such, accepting as an improvement to the published movie. Note to the publisher that the branch should remain, to avoid confusion regarding what this movie tries to do.

I am absolutely ecstatic to see this on the Workbench; however, would you be so kind as to share a link to the v0.02 patcher? Google's failing me.

Also, since it has to be asked - why v0.02 rather than (the latest, as far as I know version) v1.01?

I could watch this on emulator but I don't have the 0.02 version. So, I'll wait for an encode. EDIT: I posted after Baddap1. Thanks for the ROM.

Thank you for that. However, direct ROM links are against the rules, so I've downloaded your file and used Lunar IPS to create an IPS patch file. https://www.dropbox.com/s/7nr6z47rwnbbt87/Rockman%204%20Minus%20Infinity%20v0.02.ips?dl=0 Patch this to Rockman 4 - Aratanaru Yabou!! What are the differences between v1.01 and v0.02? I looked around but I can't find a changelog.

The physic of Hell Wheel is repaired, so you can't do the Boss Skips. And in the begining of the game the creator added a small scene where shows his website and he added a small animation of the title logo, which is a bit slower.

OK, I watched the Youtube encode. (It would probably be better to upload a 720p60 version.) Looks pretty fast and has a lot of tricks. Now I know that there is a way to get perfect score (100 points) in this game. I would have preferred perfect score run instead of all items run.

Two things right now. 1. The correct ROM and correct movie file desyncs around frame 100,000. 2. I thought you had to take no damage throughout the whole game to get to the Super Shadow Man fight?

To get Super Shadow Man, you just need to make it all the way without a single death. Oh, I found the changelog. It's in Japanese though and near the end of this page. Between 0.02 and 1.01 it mainly refers to bug fixes and other small things. I also found a download link for the 0.02 patch from the author's site: http://www.geocities.jp/borokobo/zip/Rock4mi_002_2.zip I don't know if this is the correct one or if it is the same as the one linked by boct1584. I didn't test it out.

I'm impressed that this run is faster even with extra features and battles.

I'm agree with FractalFusion. Also, saving Beat only on Cossack 1 does count for the perfect score or it's really necessary to also save it on Skull Man stage?

I'd normally say "Go for the fastest version!", but with fangames, I prefer to see a TAS of the most complete release.
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

I agree. I was entertained by the run, but this would be much better as a 100% run of the latest version. That's two significant strikes against the run and I think it may not be worthy of publication. Baddap1, if you don't wish to redo the entire run, could you at least demonstrate what some of the TASing strategies look like in version 1.01? If the differences are minor, I'll withdraw that aspect of my critique, although I'd still prefer a 100% run.

If you saw in the run I skipped the fight of Shadow in Toadman Stage, Crashman in Drillman stage, Waveman in Diveman stage and Chimerabot 1 and 2 in Wily 4 stage. In the version 1.01 as the skip can not be done due to the arrangement of the Hell Wheel physics, it is necessary to fight with those bosses, which would be slower. It is worth mentioning that also the scrolling is fixed in Cossack 1, having to pass the autoscroller obligatorily. The rest are small changes in level design, like more detailed backgrounds and that.

I agree with you to a point. For any% completion, fastest version no question, but for 100% runs and similar, use the most recent. For this run, however, I think we can make an exception since it is in fact faster than the published TAS.

Yes vote. Though we all hope to watch a 100% run, I like to see you did this all items run, and faster than your any% run, and a really pretty well tas. This run could be published, but maybe have to obsolete your old run, and there is no 100% tag.

It's not. The author uses some executable patching tool, whereas I downloaded the ROM baddap1 posted before it got bopped and used Lunar IPS to make the patch I linked. Has anyone else been able to get the FM2 to sync? For me it always fails at the same point, in the Skull Man refight.

What FCEUX version you are used? Initially it also desynched with me on the same place. When I checked the emulator, I noted that I used a wrong version instead of 2.2.3 version.

I'm using 2.2.2; didn't realize that there was a newer one. Lemme try that, thanks. EDIT: Yep, switching to 2.2.3 solved it.

Confirmed that the official patching tool for version 0.02 gives the correct ROM (using the MMC5 version), and that this TAS syncs on FCEUX 2.2.3. It doesn't sync on FCEUX 2.2.2, as boct1584 already pointed out.

Any idea why the "official" patchers are the executable tools instead of just IPS files? Been curious about that for a while.
