For those who don't check the Chrono Trigger topic, or were successfully fooled by my prank, yes, I'm working on this game as well, mostly as a distraction to prevent Chrono Trigger from sucking the life out of me. =P My goal is to shoot for lowest score, then go as fast as possible. Anyways, here's the work-in-progress, which has finished up to Course 2-4, located right here[/url]. This was recorded with SNES9x 1.43 final, non-improved version. Notes on this: 1-1: I considered putting in a tight circle to hit all three enemies, however it seems that as you lose speed that the radius of the circle expands outward, thus by the time you reach the final enemy you're way off and you'll miss the hole. 1-2: I hadn't considered attempting the "regular" way of hitting a hole in one on this hole (which is just putting straight ahead at around 50%-75% power), however since Kirby has a lot more ground to cover going that way I seriously doubt it's faster. 1-3: I'm pretty sure this is the optimal route on this hole, getting a Hole in One without using Hi-Jump, but I've got this feeling there's a better way of going about this hole.. 1-4: I could've sworn I missed a bounce somewhere along the line.. 1-8: Nope, I don't Hole in One this hole. I can't get any further forward velocity on my initial putt (or else I'll fall off the course entirely!), and aiming down-right at the enemy below me for some reason won't allow me to curve Kirby back toward the other enemies nearly enough to be able to get back up to the upper level. 2-2: No Hole in One here either. It looks like such an easy hole to Hole in One, but it's not! I tried about a couple hundred ways of making a jump shot, hitting the spark near the top of the hole then avoiding the two trees about midway down, but every trajectory winds up throwing me smack dab into the first tree! Unfortunately, the Spark powerup also weighs Kirby down heavily and prevents him from being able to bounce higher/further, preventing him from being able to defeat all three enemies after the trees if I use Spark to plow through the trees. So, I went for the quickest way to make this hole in 2 shots instead. Anyways, any questions/comments? Fire away!

I have some WIP--it's slow, but it gets the hole in one on 1-8. The trick is to keep your jump on 1-6 by turning the parasol guy into the hole, then use the jump out of the pit on 1-8. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/20/Kirby%27s+Dream+Course-Course+1+-+8+strokes.smv

Inspired by some of your tricks, I improved my own video. Now I'm 28 frames faster than you by the end of course 1, and I still have all the holes-in-one. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/get/21/Kirby%27s%2BDream%2BCourse%2B-%2BTorgen%2B-%2BCourse%2B1%2B-%2B8%2Bstrokes%2Bv3.smv

I'd had a theory for a while now that it's possible to get nothing but hole-in-ones on this game. Good to see that you're setting out to prove it :D.

Actually I'm not sure it's possible anymore. You would need a really high bounce on 2-2 to hit the guy who's flying really high after the second tree, and if you use the spark to bust up the trees you can't tap A when you hit the ground for extra bounce. The platform the second tree is on is the one you need to bounce from to hit that guy, so I don't think it's possible. I did get about 5 frames faster than Tilus on that hole by taking a slightly different route, though.

Hello. I've already made videos of every level with the best methods I could find. I didn't go for speed, but my scores are probably as low as you can get. I worked on these for months. Anyone can use my strategies as long as I get credit. Check them out here: http://geocities.com/kirbysdreamcourse/

Whoops. I can make a zip of all the videos and send it to someone. It's about 12mb. Anyone have any webspace they're willing to donate? Or maybe someone can make a torrent file. Just give me an email address of someone who can distribute them.

you could try http://www.filespace.org/ (they seem to allow only 5 mb), I noticed theres bunch of unnecessary files in zip, maybe 1 whole zip only contains .smw? (and hopefully below 5mb)

There should be 1 file for each level. There may be index files my computer put in there, but they would be of minimal size. I put up as many courses on that site as I could. They should be enough to get everyone started. If anyone makes a video, I strongly suggest making them for the extra courses as well. They are completely different despite being played on the old layouts. There are also more holes in one on them than on the regular holes. Here they are: http://fast.filespace.org/Revned/Course1.zip http://fast.filespace.org/Revned/Course2.zip http://fast.filespace.org/Revned/Course3.zip http://fast.filespace.org/Revned/Course4.zip http://fast.filespace.org/Revned/Course5.zip http://fast.filespace.org/Revned/Course6.zip [Edit] It looks like my site is back up. I took all the files off the geocities server and changed the download links for the first 6 courses to refer to the above urls. If anyone wants any specific videos that aren't available right now, email me at revned (at) gmail (dot) com.

Hello. I'm gocha, a Japanese novice TASer. I'm working on Kirby's Dream Course (カービィボウル) TAS. Here's the WIP (has finished up to course 2). This was recorded with nitsuja's Snes9x 1.43+ v9. I'm about 10 seconds faster than Torgen. The trick is to get parasol on 1-6 :) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1448/gocha-kirbysdreamcourse-finishedcourse2.smv I have some questions. I need your help at some points. 7-3: How come these differences occur? http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1460/kirbysdreamcourse-7-3-ng.smv http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1461/kirbysdreamcourse-7-3-ok.smv 4-4: Here's an example of "acceleration with tornado cancellation". http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1462/kirbysdreamcourse-6-5.smv Can this method be used in 4-4 by Gordo? I wish the method save time. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1463/kirbysdreamcourse-4-4.smv (not fast movie, rerecord this if you want) 3-7: Aha, I got hole in one in 3-7. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1464/kirbysdreamcourse-3-7.smv I welcome questions/comments. However I'm not good at English. My reply would be late. Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy these.

I was just wondering the other day about a run for this game. It's looking very good. I think it will be more and more amazing the farther it gets. Unfortunately I can't answer either of your questions. What did you do differently between your 7-3 movies? It seems you could use needle to stop right above the hole in your "ok" example. This game seems like it would be very difficult to optimize.

Thank you for your comment. My "ok" example was recorded from Revned's 7-3 movies. My "ng" example was recorded from Revned's 6-8 movies. No differences of controller data between the movies. Anyway, I can get hole-in-one in both movies. However I think "ok" example save about 10 frames.

Beautiful, just beautiful. I'm very excited to see more, and to know what the final score amounts to. Everytime I play this on console, I will compare myself to this movie, and realise I fall hopelessly short. ;-) But it's still fun to play, and see the potential the courses hold. Keep up the good work, gocha! Andreas

Wow. Very good work, gocha. Your movie does exactly what many of mine failed to do: look perfect at every moment. Great work on 3-7, by the way. I never tried it like that, but it makes sense. I'm no speedrunner, so I can't help you out much there, but if you need any help with the strategies, just ask. I know of some faster solutions for some levels, but I didn't use them in my videos. Some of mine are very sloppy. Good luck finishing this!

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the movie. I'll keep up the good work! ;)

That's interesting for me. Let me know if you have faster solutions than me. By the way, your Kirby's Dream Course page is a really good reference. Feel free to redistribute my strategy. Make your page perfect! ;)

Danke! This cute avatar (Arle Nadja) was ripped from a Japanese RPG, Madou Monogatari. PS: 4-6 is the most difficult hole I've ever played...

You got a hole-in-one on 4-6! I tried that once, but couldn't figure out for sure whether it was possible.

I don't have any improvements on the levels you've already done, I was talking about some of the later levels which I did rather sloppily. I'm glad you like my videos. I spent months trying to get the lowest scores. I'll probably update my site with your 3-7 strategy, but I don't have enough patience at the moment to make the other videos better. I was more concerned with the scores than the method of getting them. When your video is done, I will certainly link to it. Are you going to do the Extra courses too? By the way, this topic sparked my interest and I started to take a look at my old videos. I've been working on 2-5, and I think a Hole-in-One is possible. I've come pretty close, but not quite. I'll tell you if I get it. Can you go back and redo a single hole, or would you have to redo them all?

I put my wips which finished up to Course 6. Rerecord them if you want.

If I've done Normal courses, I'll do Extra courses as second quest.

That sounds nice. I hope that you would get it.

If you improve 2-5, I have to redo 2-5~2-8 (hex-editing sometimes fails, I think). However don't worry about it. I have movies of each courses, and my utility smv2csv will help me to rerecord movie. I welcome any improvements.

Welcome! That would be a wonderful help ;) I want to watch them even if you suppose there are no improvements than mine.
