Game objectives

  • BizHawk 2.5.2
  • Aims for the fastest time
  • Uses only one death as a shortcut in the last level
  • "Goal glitches" on practice, intermediate, and ultimate races (the intermediate race goal doesn't count as a death)
  • Shortcuts on all races except the beginners' race

Comments

I saved 320 frames in this run due to the newly used "goal glitches" on the first and the last race. The death on the last race is I wanted to get the black marble away and perform an unusual glitch when the ball is on the air, a part of the platform appears and the marble surfaces on the platform, avoiding a swirl, saving several seconds.

Stage by stage comments

Practice Race

I used a ramp and it landed on the left side of the platform. I make the dizziness happen when it reaches the goal line.

Beginners' Race

Just a regular level. No shortcuts.

Intermediate Race

At the beginning of it, I make a fall and landed on the top platform. Then I make it fell into the bottom platform on the right side of it. Then I make shortcuts, and in the end, I make it fall until the goal sound and the marble breaking, which is not death.

Aerial Race

There is a shortcut when I avoid a marble thrower that goes from right to left side of the platform. I didn't make a shortcut from the middle to the left, so I will go around there. In the end, there is an unusual end.

Silly Race

There is only one shortcut on the end ramp and made it into the goal line without dizzying (there is a goal pole, and it doesn't go through).

Ultimate Race

I have to make a fall at the end of the race to also make a black marble fell. It counts as the only death. After that, I move the marble while pressing the A button, and when the platform start to appear, the marble resurfaces to the platform. I made dizzy at the end of the race.
Here is what happened:
  • About 2:20 game time
  • Cancelling because of slower times.
  • Also, I have to cancel because I forgot to put the name in the "congratulations" screen.
  • I ended the movie at the end of the ultimate race goal line.
  • I resumed verification because filling out 3 characters in the "congratulations" screen is optional.

I like to comment on submissions and look around the site. You have probably seen me before (if you have been around for a while) either on the site, Discord, or any other social media. I recently took up making temporary encodes for new submissions. Also, I never forget to greet Tompa wherever I find him! "when resyncing stuff sucks it's called Resuccing" - EZGames69 “If an emulator stops being accepted to the site it should be called an emuLAMEr” - EZGames69 "oh no discord, everything I say will now be logged forever, sdfsdf, time to hide" - Masterjun "just had to give therapy to a taxi with daddy issues" - psx Current Projects: Mother 3 (75% complete)

No thanks, I will see if it shows up on our own YouTube channel. The three GIFs were used for “saves.”

That's not an encode for publication, that's for people to watch the TAS and vote on the entertainment value.

Uh, this TAS is quite obviously slower than the published movie. It gets worse times in all but one level. Practice: 54/54 Beginner: 49/45 Intermediate: 73/66 Aerial: 80/69 Silly: 86/73 Ultimate: 95/78 Looking into it, the author "improved" the published movie by stopping input at the finish line in the last level, unlike SprintGod who waited to input a name after the congratulations screen. Timing the published movie by this metric, it is ~1300 frames faster. Claiming this as an improvement without any mention of this is disrespectful to SprintGod and his TAS.

Cancelled because of slower times and finishing at the end of the ultimate race. I will re-edit this movie and publish it soon. I'm sorry about it.

Welp, bit late, but... User movie #67439898577548166 Easily possible to get 55 on Practice with this route/glitch, so there's at least a theoretical improvement. The entire movie is sloppy, though. Frames can easily be saved on menuing by not mashing. Obviously almost every level is noticeably slower than the published run, with the one level that's tied in in-game time being easily improvable.

I don't know how to "menu" in a Genesis game. My game ROM is USA and Europe in one game.

Menuing being just be deliberate with inputs and don't RTA mash? At most, experiment with combining inputs on the same frame?

You do realize that 20+ seconds of naming isn't counted in judging, and you're still much slower than the published run, right?

At the end, I don't know how to name because in the published run they put "TAS." Can I name it for 0 or 1 character?

The naming is completely irrelevant. You're much slower in gameplay. You have to be faster in gameplay for this to be published. Here, I've trimmed off the naming section from the published run. This is the time you have to beat with an improvement: User movie #67442091002277063

You need to change control settings to Grid, it speeds up horizontal acceleration.
