This movie aims to complete Super Mario Bros. 2 Player Hack as fast as possible, This means using the 1-2 warp zone and the 4-2 warpzone. This movie improves Chatterbox's TAS by 2 frames (Making The Time 4:54.70) by having a faster 2nd room (Walljump room) and 4th room (Water room) of 8-4. I will explain how we improved it in a bit, but for now let's discuss the movie level by level.
This was done by tdiogo_gamer and me Mario: tdiogo_gamer Luigi: Me (SMBistic)
1-1 Pretty standard completion of 1-1 although there is quite a difference. I had to slowdown Lugi (Does not Lose Time) for the flagpole glitch to work it cannot simply be done without the 2 doing the pole inputs at the same time.
1-2 As you see in the warpzone we did 2 different clips I did a "blazit clip" which you charge into the wall and clip in with 1 or more jumps, as suppose to Mario did a top clip which you get near to the edge of the pipe to press left and clip in (Take Note That You Need To Be In Walking Speed Because The Pipe Is Low). I did a seperate cip for Luigi because ofcourse, entertainment and to slow him down because again we need Luigi and Mario to be at sync to go down the pipe.
4-1 Normal completion of 4-1 except the slowdown of Luigi for the flagpole glitch to work.
4-2 This level is very interesting, Normally we do 2 bumps, blazit clip, mana clip etc. but we cant do that here because the faster scrolling of the screen makes that impossible to go fast enough. So we opted to go for the vine warp as other TAS'sers used. We do the vine warp by letting the screen scroll up until to the point if that we touched the vine it will warp/teleport us to the far right and give us enough Xpos (X Position) for the wrong warp to work.
8-1 Normal Completion of 8-1 except for, again the slowdown of Luigi.
8-2 I really took my time to make this level to make it look entertaining as possible. First of we kill enemies to manipulate the bullet bill launcher to shoot a bullet bill fast enough to save the TAS 8-2 framerule. After we got a shot, enjoy to see a million wall jumps made by Mario and Luigi while not falling to the pit. After that Mario needs to hit the block to do the bullet bill glitch as well as Luigi doing the flagpole glitch at the same time. If Mario hits the block first and the 2nd frame luigi touches the block (doing flagpole glitch) the game will just softlock and will not be able to continue any gameplay, waiting for the timer to run down is not an option since the timer freezes.
8-3 Very normal completion of 8-3 except we do a slowdown at the end doing a walljump to do a flagpole glitch because if we don't do the slowdown and just straight up do the flagpole glitch we would lose time because it will give us 3 fireworks at the result of the timer ending at a 243 and thus losing time. Although Using L+R TAS Acceleration we can just be fast enough to get a 244 and not get fireworks but would still get the slowdown with fpg framerule by grabbing the flag at the top. But doing a flagpole glitch without slowdown and also using the mentioned L+R Acceleration will give you 3 fire works because you waste time clipping into the block thus losing time at the result of wasting time clipping into the block.
8-4 I will Discuss 8-4 room by room there are 5 rooms in total.
1st Room: 1st rooms is played normally this is also what you'll see in the normal TAS of the game.
2nd Room: This where the first improvement came from, they entered the pipe on frame 0016079 as supposed to us we entered the pipe on frame 0016078. I guess I managed to enter the pipe a frame faster was because I had better subpixels as suppose to them?
3rd Room: This room is unique only to this hack this is because this method of wrong warp is impossible in the normal version of the game. As mentioned earlier the screen scrolls faster than the normal version thus letting us enter the pipe more quickly rather than falling on to the ground.
4th Room: Okay you guys might be really surprised but I saved the other frame here... Yeah, the reason for this is rather simple they exited the pipe a frame late as supposed to this TAS.
5th Room: This is pretty standard stuff except we right release 2 frames before we press left to do FFA (Falling Fast Acceleration) and we grab the axe with better subpixels to grab the axe. Also Mario presses a frame of left 3 frames before all sprites disappear for us not smoothfully (If That's Even A Word) go through the axe (IDK Why This Happens).
With that thanks for watching :)

feos: This movie is really well done! And it was rather entertaining to the audience (barring constant jumping). But ROM hacks should be acceptable to Moons to be published, and in addition to being entertaining, the movie should also be different from existing publications of the same game.
Of course we don't have published movies of this hack, so we can't compare to them, but we still compare hacks to the base game. There's a discussion about accepting hacks to Standard under some conditions, but even there the goal is accepting hacks that are different from the base game, even if not necessarily entertaining.
Most of the feedback to this movie mentions that aiming for Fastestcompletion makes this hack too similar to [1715] NES Super Mario Bros. "warps" by HappyLee in 04:57.31. The apparent reason is lack of tasks that could be separated between the 2 players, so they just end up doing the same exact thing, which is very little different from the 1-player any% run.
So it was suggested that a new movie is made on this hack, with a different goal that highlights unique features of 2-player gameplay. It may not necessarily be a goal already published for original SMB, but those published seem to be well established at this point, and worth considering.
Rejecting... but better luck net time!

While I recognize that a lot of work was made to make this movie entertaining, I’m not sure if it’s sufficiently different from the currently published NES Super Mario Bros. movies. I think the length of this game is to the benefit of the movie’s entertainment factor. If this were in the warpless category I’d have voted no, but instead voted meh.

I also feel that this is too much similar to the published movie on the original game. However, I think that this hack should be acceptable if the movie had a goal that could allow to show off more of that this hack has to offer compared to the original game. I think that both "maximum coins" and "all items" would work. See, there is already an "all items" movie on YouTube: https://youtu.be/5aRtT7t-FLE (the author probably doesn't want to submit it due to optimization flaws)
my personal page - my YouTube channel - my GitHub - my Discord: thunderaxe31 <Masterjun> if you look at the "NES" in a weird angle, it actually clearly says "GBA"

Make sure to add tdiogo_gamer as an author as well. I think it's a interesting concept. I liked seeing 2 players being controlled at one time in an any% speedrun. Voting yes based on entertainment Only issue I see with publication is I feel warpless would have showed off this hack a bit better and been more entertaining than just the 5 minutes this run is.
I like to comment on submissions and look around the site. You have probably seen me before (if you have been around for a while) either on the site, Discord, or any other social media. I recently took up making temporary encodes for new submissions. Also, I never forget to greet Tompa wherever I find him! "when resyncing stuff sucks it's called Resuccing" - EZGames69 “If an emulator stops being accepted to the site it should be called an emuLAMEr” - EZGames69 "oh no discord, everything I say will now be logged forever, sdfsdf, time to hide" - Masterjun "just had to give therapy to a taxi with daddy issues" - psx Current Projects: Mother 3 (75% complete)

wow, I never knew a hack like this existed. I rarely watch TASes all the way to the end, before I make my decision to vote. This one...I had to see all of it! :P The only part that I was hoping to see was a split between Mario and Luigi at the end with Bowser...where one jumps over and the other walks under. That would have been neat. Anyway, Yes vote.
I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence. ---- SOYZA: Are you playing a game? Nevermind...eien's 64 core machine will do. :) ---- BOTing will be the end of all games. --NYMX

I completely agree with this and it's what I thought when watching this submission. That other video is awesome indeed! If the goal is fastest completion, there's no tasks to separate between 2 players, they both just need to do all the same things. But if there are many tasks that 1 player has to do and it can be split into 2 players doing lots of independent things, it's what 2-player movies are good for. I voted No.

This hack is really cool - in general I love TASes where there's two players at once bouncing around and being superhuman jerks together. I hope that some category for it can be accepted here!

I watched to the end and found myself smiling, so good enough for a Yes from me, though I do agree with others that a movie with different goals than any% would better show off this hack. Apart from multi-tasking opportunities, situations where 1 player has a power-up and the other doesn't would be visually and tactically interesting. Gameplay went a bit overboard with the constant jumping sound effects IMO but plenty of entertaining antics (especially sending the shells between the 2 players) and looks well optimized.

Forgot to mention, yeah it was pretty annoying to hear it all the time.

I think it has some interesting moments, nevertheless, It would be much more enjoyable without the constant jumping sound. Meh for me.

This may be a long shot, but it could be an empty frame past your last input. With Bizhawk, a blank input is always viewed after the last input is made. This is done to open up a spot for selecting the next button press. I suppose the only way to clear this blank frame is to open it up in a text viewer. I can do this in Bizhawk, but I tried opening up your FCEUX file and it doesn't operate the same, since bizhawk contains all the files in a "Zip" format. So, I know very little about your chosen emulator and how it records the "input" file....but that could be a place to start.

Hello. I know this is a bit of an old thread/submission, but I think this should be revisited with the new rule changes and class system. I find this run to be pretty entertaining, including the constant jumps. I think this TAS was very well made, and I'm giving it a yes vote.
