Stage by stage comments

Stage 1

Here we just need to collect the Laser shot as it is the only subweapon we will need for the rest of the game, it can be used on bosses and does a bunch of damage. shooting after making a blast will cause the laser to despawn so the next one can come out.

Stage 2

Jumping to shoot the boss makes it so there's less distance for the shot to travel

Stage 3

A couple spots you can clip up to on the climb up if you have careful enough positioning.

Stage 4

I unfortunately was not able to avoid 4 cycles on the boss, in hard mode the health of bosses is slightly raised, and it's extremely tight to deal any damage to either head, where it takes 4 cycles to get. Unsure if there's any way to limit cycles for it.

Stage 5

I pause for a brief second near the beginning to avoid a grenade, make my way all the way to the alien section, and done.

I didn't even know that Contra was originally an arcade game until a year ago, believe it or not. Everyone always talked about the NES port and seemingly swept the arcade version under the rug of history (same thing with Super C). It's nice to see a TAS of this version finally completed.

Wow the laser weapon is powerful in this version. Nice research. While the NES version is very popular, the Arcade version is pretty impressive despite having "less levels" (I'm surprised the last stage "combines" the second half of the game into one stage). Nice job and yes vote.
My homepage --Currently not much motived for TASing as before...-- But I'm still working.

Awesome job with this TAS. I love all of the improvements that you were able to make, especially when it came to the last boss. Yes Vote for sure.

Funny game. But NES-port better. Boss of 6th level of NES version looks like skipable in last level of Arcade game.
