The coin ship... Does this thing appear randomly or is there something I can do to trigger it? Thanks.
You should try google first for questions like these... this is what I found within 5 seconds: Treasure Ship In Worlds 1, 3, 5, and 6, you can turn a Wandering Hammer Brother on the map screen into a lucrative Treasure Ship. Here's what you have to do: 1.Have at least one Wandering Hammer Brother left on the map screen. 2. At the end of a level, hit the Roulette Block like normal. After the timer counts down giving you the time bonus, if your Coin total is a multiple of 11 (i.e. 11, 22, 33, etc., but NOT zero), and if the tens digit (the second number from the right) of your score matches the repeated number in your Coins total, you'll get the Treasure Ship to appear on the map screen. Example: 55 coins, score of 27650. Of course, you get 50 points per second remaining after you hit the Roulette Block, which affects the all-important tens digit of your score, so you'll have do a little planning ahead. Just keep in mind that if you stop the timer on an even number, your tens digit won't change. If you stop the timer on an odd number, your tens digit will increase by 5. So, if you're at the Roulette Block with 66 Coins and a score ending in -60, you'll want to stop on an even number. If you have 88 Coins and a score ending in -30, you'll want to stop the timer on an odd number. The Treasure Ship contains 169 Coins and a hidden 1-Up Mushroom just before the end pipe.

I was thinking about doing a warpless run, so I started and rerecorded over the current warp run (1-1 and 1-2), which gave me a 1 frame lead over the published warpless run. I had gained about 2 pixels on the current warpless run in 1-F by not stutter running and still achieving P-speed, but I had to sacrifice 2 frames for hammer bros. manipulation at the end of 1-2, where the published run did not, putting me behind 2 pixels in 1-F. Is there anyone on the original team that can tell me how to make the RNG lag? EDIT: I found a series of values that fits the description of the RNG starting at address 000781. This will probably help.

I know that adelikat and Lord Tom are currently planning on doing a warpless run on SMB 3, so you might want to get in touch with those two. Given the amount of work he and Mitjitsu put in to to the warped run, I'm guessing that Lord Tom also has good knowledge about the RNG.

I didn't know that, and considering the quality of their warpless TAS, I would suspect they would be able to produce a mcuh higher quality TAS than I could.

I've seen several videos using that glitch of wall jump like in SMB1, and also is about the same do the glitch to walk into the wall, only in smb3 there to go with a little momentum, it is not necessary SMB1

It takes a minimum amount of speed to get into the wall. The physics are a bit different in SMB3 making it take more momentum to accomplish it.

The minimum speed to get a wall jump to work is 33, because of that we weren't able to wall jump immediately after entering the first door in Bowser's castle.

And the minimum speed to wall jump in SMB is about 24

Adelikat and Lord_Tom are planning on working on it at some point. When then they'll begin working on it I don't know.

The TAS has indeed been started. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZQWbc6im-E There is an improvement to world 1-6 discovered by lord tom. http://cid-de1e7fef4aaf7e0d.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/.Public/SMB3%20warpless?lc=3081

I have slight issues on the way you've done the first stage. 1-1 in your WIP is improvable by a frame. That is if you eliminate the frame of lag as demonstrated in one of my old WIP's shown here . It should be easilly hexable into the current WIP.

Just saw the youtube.com vid. That is awesome! I really liked the stutter running! What an improvement!

*cough* *cough*, ahem excuse I woul- *cough* *cough*, mmm, I would also like to see a new published run of Super Mario Bros 3. With some of the neat things found by improving the warped run, I bet this could be improved by a good amount.

1-1 was not done by me. It was done by you and Lord_Tom (sorry if you have any problems with this). So was 1-2. There are no frames of lag whatsoever. I did however hex in four frames of wait at the end of 1-1 (no lag) so that I could get no star cards by 1-5. (This doesn't save or lose any time it's just for effect. You would have needed to wait for the box in 1-F anyway for optimal hammer bros movement.)

I'm eliminating the stutter running in 1-6 in favor of a slightly better strat (for the record, the strat used in the youtube vid is still faster than the current published run strat. Also, I think I will redo from 1-5, because there is one frame of lag there which I know can be manipulated by improving the initial subpixel position.

The issue isn't that it's the same input with the 4 frame delay at the end added. When I was TASing that level during the warped run, I spent weeks trying to avoid lag at that spot where you need to perform the mushroom glitch, but was never able to successfully do it. In the old WIP I linked I did manage it, but that is 1.5 frames behind. If you need to add the delay at the end of the level wouldn't it make more sense to use the WIP I linked in the previous post.

No because 1. I didn't absolutely need to. I would have gotten two stars and a flower in 1-5 anyway 2. If it aint broke don't fix it. I won't finish world 1 any faster. Also, there is no "mushroom glitch". It's the same as waiting for the card to change. EDIT: in other words, I can't be fucked hex editing in your old WIP. It took me about 4 hours to get the right horizontal and vertical subpixel remainder and a 4 frame delay at the end of 1-1.

I want to see the movie, not a 1 frame war. I know it's your life, but don't you think weeks or even several hours is too much just for a frame that won't make a difference? Please focus on doing cool stuff and finding real shortcuts.

Seriously though, it only took three weeks to do the whole of world 1, and two and a half levels from world 2. So I won't be overly disapointed if it has to be redone to save the frames.

I was thinking for World 4 Level 4 it should go something like this: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/522821027/GlitchMan-Super%20Mario%20Bros.%203%20%28U%29%20%28PRG1%29%20%5B%21%5D-world4-4.fm2 In my opinion, I think it is way faster than jumping off of the last platform (Mario maintains his running speed in the water by crouching since the Giant Block is partially in the water).

That would definitley be a lot faster since Mario virtually comes to a hault when he lands in the water.

Isn't it also kind of weird that in that WIP there was no wall jump at the end of the airship's boss to grab the wand like you did in world 6! Any reason for that!?!?! Do you realize how much time that could save?!?!?!? I love saveing time!!!!!! :D =D :-D :=D >:D XD
