I checked old posts. As Halamantariel mentioned there, Rice 6.0.0 video plugin syncs. But loading from savestates causes desync. So it is necessary to start replay from start whenever watching movie on mupen64. I hope desync problem is solved. Another method to avoid desync is here from Bisqwit, though I haven’t tried. Thank you for your explanation about the mechanism of desyncs, Mr. Grunz. I’m looking forward to your work, all the more. EDIT: I also tried Bisqwit’s method, only to end error message, "Error creating Direc3D device!" I can replay by Halamantariel’s method, so I’m not bothered, except for the demand of replaying from first. EDT2: This notation is about Mukki’s published TAS and this topic may be out-of-date.

Ääääääääähm the advices you are refering to here are for Mukkis old TAS. That one synced with so many different plugins because Mukki had to work hard to avoid desyncs in general, because the old mupen was very prone to it with MM. Grunzes TAS will only sync with the plugins he used. Are you sure that Rice syncs? That would be the first time I hear about it.

My notation is about Mukki’s published TAS. I used Rice on mupen64-rerecording-v2-reset copied in Mupen64 v8 reset v2 folder. I don’t know whether Grunz’s TAS is synced or not with Rice, because his WIP is deleted. EDIT: Not deleted, just a microstorage error. I tried replaying Grunz’s WIP on Rice. As soon as the first day began, desync happened. Of course, Jabo syncs.

I want to try a TAS competition for this game and OoT. As it will probably not be very successfull, it will end again after Task 2 or 3. There's no need for you to be good at TASing this game at all, it's more about having fun and learning it ;) Here's the thread about it: http://forums.zeldaspeedruns.com/index.php?topic=390.msg6267#msg6267

If I know how to use the bomb glitches I'd probably do it. But I probably don't need to know how so maybe I'll sign up.

New Odolwa Strategy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-5wFZTWXgs Turns out bomb flowers are super broken in this game. Shame this is about the only place they show up.

I have been reading this topic, pretty much ever since it was made, and why haven't I made an account? Well I did. But there must have been some wrong with the email or something because I never got to activate my account. This was three years ago, and I naturally assumed that an admin had to activate my account, but of course they never did. So I made an account today (it's too bad I couldn't use my real email-adress, I had to use a "disposable" one, because you know my real one had been used, three years ago), and now I feel like the largest idiot ever because I have been wishing to be able to register here for three years not knowing it was as simple as just doing it ._. Anyways, excpect to see me post in this topic alot from now on !

You could simply have dropped by the IRC channel and asked for help to activate your account. You still can, if you want.

I don't use IRC but thanks anyway ._.

You don't "need" to use IRC. You only need to use tools at your disposal in case of an emergency :) If the boards doesn't work, then the other way to get in contact with members is via the IRC channel. Anyway, something to think about.

Grunz has to redo a bit again since petrie cant stop finding improvements. He is a douche that way. He only finds stuff when runs are past that specific point. ;D Anyway that means Grunz is basically at odolwa and no he is not on working on it at the moment since he is a lazy bum... and it's like 40°C (104°F) in the shadow here, so he has enough to do with finding some cold liquid to jump in.

Cool. Does anyone know how to TAS (STUPIDEST QUESTION EVER)? I mean I know what a TAS is and stuff and I downloaded Mupen but I can't seem to find the hotkeys place so I can choose what buttons to have for savestates and frame by frame slowdown etcetc. I used to be able to but this seems like a new version of mupen.

Yea, there is no hotkeys setting in the settings menu. That was sort of my problem to begin with. I'm telling you it's a newer version of Mupen.

Is there a 100% TAS of Majoras Mask? Beat the 1st dungeon, in meantime make Kafeis Quest and collect heartpieces on your way. Can this be really possible?

IIRC, kafei's quest is set up in such a way that sequence breaks can't really be made and an entire extra 3 day cycle is needed. There's just not enough time in between the kafei stuff to do the entirety of the rest of 100%. Petrie is this correct? However, this would probably mean that a 100% TAS could spend a lot of the extra time accomplishing the rest of the 100% tasks in ultra cool ways rather than just the fastest way.

iirc kafei's quest would require 2 whole cycles for 100%. one to get postman's hat, and one to get the extra bottle from kafei's mom. correct me if i'm wrong, however

It's possible to glitch through the door to the mask, so parts of the quest can be left out. Or, if more convenient, you can finish 2/3 of the quest, finish other things, start a new cycle, wrap everything up, then finish the quest by rolling through the door =) I'd love to see a 100% run if this game. If anyone is willing to try, I might learn how to TAS this game just to help out.

a 100% TAS of this game? - not even in your dreams it would be basicly a 4 hour TAS project. but not just that, the time it takes to plan such a run is already ridicolus. it took me and slowking already months to plan the any% run (bomb uses etc.) the any% run is already taking me over a year now and I'm a bit more than half through it. thus a pretty optimized 100% run would take 2-3 years to make. nobody will ever do that

A completely optimized run we do not need! All we're saying is that we want to see a 100% run, even if it's nor perfect. Non-TAS runners can do it, so why can't TAS runners?
