Hi, everybody. For my first TAS submission of this year I decided to TAS a homebrew Game Boy Color game. This is a movie of Rubber Duckie: Bathtime Fun. This is a homebrew game released by Wilder last year in 2025. It stars a little rubber duckie in a simple and short 2D platforming game.
"You are Rubber Duckie.
Fight filth, robot ducks, parrots, and pizza rat, among others. All leading to your ultimate showdown with Dirty Beard The Pirate on the mysterious Pirate Island!
Splish-splash your way through five worlds of this charming, quack-tastic adventure!"
You can purchase the game
here.
This TAS beats the game and defeats Dirty Beard in about 8 minutes.
The gameplay is very simple. You press left or right to move (there's no run button), you jump with A and you squirt water with B. The game consists of 5 worlds, 4 of them being simple platforming levels with a boss at the end, and one world being autoscrollers.
In order to squirt water, you have to find a water source like the tap water that sometimes appears in levels. You can squirt up to 3 times when full.
Lag can seemingly randomly happen depending on a variety of factors. Stomping on an enemy, a large enemy spawning (like a Robo Duckie), getting hit by an enemy or obstacle, shooting a projectile, or even jumping (specially in World 3-2) can lag the game for at least 1 frame. In the autoscrollers this is unavoidable specially because a lot of enemies and projectiles on screen. I try my best to reduce lag in all the platforming levels. World 3-2 is noteworthy because seemingly when the parrot enemy spawns, when I perform a jump, the game lags for 1 frame seemingly every time, so I time carefully when I jump to reduce lag in this level.
Speaking of which, the autoscrollers where the duck is inside a bubble can be slightly sped up by dashing with the A button. It takes 12 frames to press A to dash again continually.
You can only really take one hit. Get hit again and you die. This is why in World 2 specifically, I delay my movement a couple times to avoid getting hit by the fast falling "Screwies" that are very dangerous.
Bosses
The first boss against Snot is pathetically easy. They get hit by both stomping on them and shooting water at them. They seemingly have to invincibility frames so they're taking care of extremely quickly.
The second boss fight has the duck dealing with the Pizza Rat. You must press the switches that appear to send an electric shock to the wires to hopefully reach the rat and shock them. Unfortunately, this takes some time as you have to wait for a certain cycle when the rat is grabbing a pizza slice. Trying to shock the rat before then will be ineffective and the rat will not take any damage.
The third boss is against a big one eyed squid called Quill. Shoot the eye three times and the boss is done. You have to wait to shoot since the eye has a few invincibility frames after taking damage.
The final boss against Dirty Beard is a bit different though, as you don't really damage him. Your task is to lure the parrot (named Polly) above you so it lays eggs onto the center of the bridge. I did my best to manipulate the parrot so it lays the eggs as early as I could, all while dodging them and Dirty Beard at the same time. After the bridge breaks, Dirty Beard falls to his "doom" and becomes Clean Beard after taking a bath.
And that's it, that's the game and the run. Thank you for watching. I hope to bring more TASes throughout the rest of this new year.
nymx: Claiming for judging.
nymx: In a run like this, all I need to see is no disruption of forward progress. Well, that is exactly what we have here. Even the boss fights are quick. One thing though...dang, that is a big bath tub! Good work on this.
