πŸ”ΊπŸŸ’πŸŸ¦ (also written as /\ O or TCQ) is a platformer based on the art style of Piet Mondrian.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: BizHawk 2.11
  • Model used: +2A
  • Aims to complete the game as quickly as possible.

Comments

This is a tool-assisted speedrun of πŸ”ΊπŸŸ’πŸŸ¦ for the ZX Spectrum. It completes the any% category, completing the game as quickly as possible.
TAS timing (power on until last input): 41340 frames, 13:46.469
RTA timing (press 1 to start the game until 🟒 snaps into place): 30186 frames, 10:03.479

Model

The run is performed on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum +2A. πŸ”ΊπŸŸ’πŸŸ¦ can sometimes encounter lag frames, reducing the game to half speed in these moments. 128K versions of the Spectrum run their Z80 processor at a slightly higher clock rate, and the +2A and +3 also have some improvements in memory access speeds. As a result, the game runs fastest on these models. The +3 is a disk-based system, and πŸ”ΊπŸŸ’πŸŸ¦ has never been officially released on disk, so the run uses the +2A and loads the game from tape.

General information

All characters move left or right at the same fixed speed. πŸ”Ί can shoot and destroy enemies. 🟒 can jump. 🟦 is heavy and falls through collapsing floors.
In Level 1, we go πŸŸ’πŸ”ΊπŸŸ¦πŸŸ’πŸ”ΊπŸŸ’πŸ”ΊπŸŸ’πŸŸ¦πŸŸ’πŸ”ΊπŸŸ’πŸŸ¦πŸŸ’. In Level 2, we go πŸŸ’πŸ”ΊπŸŸ’πŸ”ΊπŸŸ¦πŸŸ’πŸ”Ί. In Level 3, we go πŸ”ΊπŸŸ’πŸŸ¦πŸŸ’πŸŸ¦πŸŸ’πŸ”ΊπŸŸ’πŸŸ¦πŸŸ’πŸ”ΊπŸŸ¦πŸŸ’πŸ”ΊπŸŸ’πŸŸ¦πŸŸ’πŸ”ΊπŸŸ’. In Level 4, we go 🟒. In Level 5, we go πŸŸ’πŸ”ΊπŸŸ¦πŸŸ’. And with that we are πŸ”ΊπŸŸ’πŸŸ¦.

Other comments

πŸ”ΊπŸŸ’πŸŸ¦ is a fairly simple game but it looks nice and uses the Spectrum's colour palette well. Hopefully this encourages more people to give it a try.
Special thanks go to Amaweks for making the game, Sir Clive Sinclair for making the Spectrum, and everyone in the Speedtrum Specrunning community for keeping da speccy alive.

nymx: Claiming for judging.
nymx: This is an excellent run! The game is fantastic! The music is amazing! Nothing here stands out, as it looks like an extremely optimized movie. With the downtime, in some parts, the play-around was also of some interest...since movement was kinda limited to certain motions that could be dangerous to perform. Great job!
Accepting to "Standard".

despoa: Processing...

Wow, I didn't expect you can play around with unicode in submission titles. The game itself looks cool, with catchy Spectrum-ish 8-bit music. Voting Yes
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.
