Pretty self-explanatory run. I shoot one screen of aliens in the fastest possible time, on the Atari 2600 version of Galaxian. At times I play around with the aliens' projectiles and abuse their flying towards the Galaxip.
The initial version was a quick solo run by me. eien86 and nymx have improved this, so they are co-authors. The new version contains a "double-kill" trick, as shown in the forum, and is about 2 seconds faster.
There is also a kill screen causing the game to crash once 136 lives are reached.
Possible improvements
Maybe luck could be manipulated to make the aliens fly down more, but this is a very simple and old game, so I'm not sure.
nymx: While awaiting SelflessVanity's response, eien86 steps in with an even better cut. Here is the improvement file. So, an agreement has been met to share co-authorship among us three. Stepping down as judge for someon else to take over.

I have beaten your submission by 24 frames. This was just a quick run-through. I am certain more can be found.
As long as I'm confident in the final result, I am willing to work with you on co-authorship, but I want to give this more time. Please let me know your intensions.

I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence.

SOYZA: Are you playing a game?
NYMX: I'm not playing a game, I'm TASing.
SOYZA: Oh...so its not a game...Its for real?

Anybody got a Quantum computer I can borrow for 20 minutes?
Nevermind...eien's 64 core machine will do. :)

Wow..on top of my findings, we see another 126 frames cut. Amazing, yet expected.
SelflessVanity? Would you mind responding to this? We seem to have 3 people involved now.

I would like to work together on this.
Ok. Thanks.

I have heard from eien86 on this submission. Basically, here is the progression and his thinking on the situation.
1. My initial find of 24 frames came from discovering that one shot can kill two enemies at once.
2. He decides to go even further to try and replicate that finding and successfully does finds 126 more frames.
Because of this "double kill" strategy, the co-authorship has been suggested to be:
eien86
nymx
SelflessVanity
I'll leave this to a judge to confirm, even though I believe I should be last.

Each time you manage to destroy an entire wave, another fiercer wave is launched
and
The ATARI GALAXIAN game includes nine skill levels, each offering varying degrees of challenge.
implying the movie we are submitting cannot be baseline, as it's incomplete. Instead, its goal could be changed to "single wave" (similar case to [6859M]). Nevertheless, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to extend this movie to include all 10 waves, since I can have the bot do that for me.
I vote we need to put this to delayed until we complete the full run. Opinions?
Putting this here for reference:
Movie Rules wrote:
If there's no clear ending, end after completing the first full game loop. However you may play further and end after any of the following:
All unique content (enemies, level layouts, game mechanics, etc.) is exhausted and completed.
The loop with the hardest in-game difficulty (enemy speed, AI, etc.) is completed.
In games with a score counter, you may end when you reach the maximum score the game allows.
If there is a different enemy formation at wave 16, that should be the minimium to consider a game loop. Changes in enemy speed beyond that point would be considered difficulty increases, but not necesarily part of the initial loop.
So as I see it, at least 16 waves should be completed for a baseline endpoint. If the enemies stop increasing in speed after wave 30, that could be considered the loop/stage with the hardest difficulty. This would also be a suitable enpoint for baseline publication (and the later/harder endpoint would obsolete the earlier/easier endpoint of the 16 wave option).
A maximum score run could also be considered as a separate publication.
I was planning on grabbing this to judge once I saw it set back to NEW. I'll claim it and set it to delayed until you all decide what you want to do with the run.
The page specifies that enemies move faster only on those five "fast" waves. From that, it sounds like they move at the same speed in every fast wave, not increasing, which would make Wave 16 the last unique content in the game. This could be tested though by checking the aliens' speed value on Wave 15, 20, 25, and 30 for any change.

If all the "fast" waves are indeed the same speed; then in my opinion, the hardest loop/stage of difficulty would be the first stage that was both the new enemy layout and fast speed. Whatever stage that is is where I'd say the endpoint would be ideal for a baseline run.
