Probably to have both parts in one movie. But yeah, not that neccesary to do right now anyway, whatever. You got an awesome looking WIP at least, Carl. Great work!

The egg juggling was very entertaining. Keep up the good work, the WIP looks very promising both the technical and entertaining side.

I noticed a few spots where there's a moving platform (in the direction you're running) that you didn't run along against, but besides that, it looks very awesome! definitely what I want to see in an Any%.

Yeah, I'll definitely be doing that for all subsequent horizontal platforms. Unfortunately, I learned that running along those platforms increased Yoshi's Speed after missing one of them :P

You can fix it in your WIP by using TASMovieEditor. That is unless this fix would affect the game's RNG, but I kinda doubt it.

I know Nxcy and Baxter have had very little luck finding ways to redo sections without it totally screwing the game up. They need a much more finely tuned run since they're doing 100% though (random star movement, etc). Can anyone elaborate?

Wow, that was very good! I first thought that the any% wouldn't be able to stand up to the 100% in entertainment, but you really did a good job on that. I especially liked the music synchronization, which I think has become something of a rarity lately. Excellent entertainment choices overall! And the glitches didn't disappoint either. Keep up the good work!

Nice work. So many awesome tricks and time-savers I never new about, especially pushing the W2 boss off the other side. I remember actually trying to get over him to do that but without the knowledge of wall-jumps it was impossible. I'll be sure to watch the completed run.

On 3-6 atm :) Just got a new any% real-time SS record (1:49:27 SDA time), so I'll be shifting my focus back to the TAS here soon. For anyone interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qvOzzA2Jb4

For anyone interested, I'm about to enter World 5, ~7500 frames ahead of the old run :)

Well, school has been incredibly tame so far this semester, so this run will be finished within a few days :) Can anyone advise me on how to easily go about making the .smv into a good quality movie file? I did a pretty bad job last time -- my knowledge of such things is extremely limited.

  • get and install Lagarith or the CamStudio codec
  • start emulator
  • set audio sample rate to 48kHz
  • load game & pause emulator
  • start AVI recording (select file (e.g. 00.avi) and codec)
  • select "play movie" and load the file
  • unpause & wait until TAS & ending is finished
  • stop AVI recording
  • edit .avi in VirtualDub if necessary ("Video|Direct Stream Copy")
  • convert video to h264 and audio to MP3 (e.g. via x264vfw & LAME ACM codec & VirtualDub) ("Video|Fast Recompress" & "Streams|Stream List|" + right-click stream + "Full Processing Mode" + right-click + "Compression" + select "Lame MP3" and bitrate, e.g. 256kbps)

Actually, you should be doing audio to aac or ogg. aac is preferred though. Use the Nero encoder.

Then you'd need command-line knowledge and a different container (.mkv/.mp4)...

Edit: Figured some encoding stuff out at least a little bit. Anyway, the deed is done. I'm awaiting a final review, but basically the run is complete. Just under 20k frames ahead of Spezz's old run by the end. Video coming soon.

If you wish to make an TAS from scratch You must first, invent the Yoshiverse.

ROFLROFLROFLROFL :D Run submitted. And of course I forgot to end the .smv on the last frame of input, so I'm off to a good start. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqsERYfwkHA

Wow, you even optimized the ZIP's file size! :) Oh, and the ROM info:

I'm just wondering if there's been any new progress so far on the 100% run. Hope so. It's definitely one of the most anticipated runs.
