Alright, here's yet another request of mine. Seeing as I'm probably never going to play the PC version though(and don't an Amiga), I'd like to see this odd version played. Don't get me wrong, it's the real game as the PC and Amiga versions. However, it uses the Amiga version's VGA(?) graphics. . .or maybe it uses unique graphics. . .one of the two. This game was also released on the MegaDrive and even released on the Super Famicom in Japan. It's the second story of Sheltem's escape and rampage, taking place on the artificial world of CRON(Central Research Observational Nacelle). It seems Sheltem has driven the would off its natural course and has it hurtling into the sun! Only eight brave warriors can stop this from happening. . . So yeah. Like Eye of the Beholder, it's a "dungeon crawl". I like the Might and Magic series quite a lot and would love to see this speed-ran.
I'm not that hard to find... if you know where to look. -=( http://jolikmc.tumblr.com )=-

I honestly am wondering if the Genesis version has the superior graphics or not.. [I only played that version] I know the big key to this game is getting a Witches Broom A.S.A.P. and flying to.. um shit.. [E2 11,9]? and using a teleport orb iirc...? Anyways, you teleport/travel to the fountain there and it gives you a TEMPORARY 200 for all stats and Level 50. You take 1 step in any direction and you get attacked by an insanely difficult party of monsters whom you can now wipe the floor with, get awesome loot, step back and repeat... and then there's those Cuisinarts in the Mountains near the beginning of the game [B2 1,8] that add mondo experience... Then level up and repeat as needed ^^ I ALSO HIGHLY RECOMMEND MY GUIDES on Gamefaqs ^_^ Definitely will be of help as I have all the world map marked out. I also have a cavern directory and most of the castles done. If I ever find my old graph book, I have maps of virtually everything too... needless to say, I was hooked on the PC version ^^ Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Mr. Kelly R. Flewin, Yes i have read your guides.....very detailed and useful. i plan to use items more than spells of course and witch's broom, teleport orb and greatest fountain are all in my plan of course. i do not plan to train to level up at all if i can anyway. what i would really want to know is whether i can abuse passwords from a previous play. because if not i will need to detour to the places where the hints appear. another question would be whether i really need to clear triple crown of four colours. when i played it ten years ago all i did was clear the black tickets and did not save the bishops.

one more question would be whether i can etherealize through the walls in square lake dungeon. that will save me from walking to sheltem.

Not sure.. I don't think you can due to the properties of the maze, but it's been years since I last played. In regards to the triple crown, never did skip it... though my guides mention all the messages. And holy shit! someone put maps on on GF! Now THAT is helpful! IIRC, Enchanting items is something that could definitely be a boon in the run.. with savestates, you can always max out an item's enchantability without it being cursed ^^ The final password is always PREAMBLE from what I recall... and there's an excellent guide in the Genesis section for M&M II, so that may be all you need. I have an SRAM for the genesis version with that, if you want it. (Why doesn't microstorage support srm?) The only difference I know between the SNES and MD (besides the graphics and music) is you can boost stats from the +10 locations to 100 in SNES and 50 in MD. But I never played the SNES version. I am pretty sure you can't do etherealize shenanigans though any of the important parts, though you might skip some encounters by walking backwards. More seriously, you should think carefully about how good a TAS this would make. My MM1 TAS on this site was so coldly received I can barely believe it got published. MM2 is longer and requires more combat, so you need to levelgrind. And no one will want watch you jerk off the cuisinarts ten times. Things for you to find out first:
-what sequence of events is required to complete the game -how many combats are needed -what's the fastest way to deal with those combats
If the number of combats is small maybe forget about leveling and just rely on the greatest fountain. Or, maybe you can luck manipulate the Hide command to work every time. (Might not be possible.) Check my gamefaqs guide for all the cheap shortcuts. One guy described a way to force instant kill spells to work, which I haven't tested.

another question: how is treasure drop determined? do specific monsters drop specific stuff? rarity? i am referring to the top weapons and not quest items. i may want to manipulate some rare drops so that "no one sees me fight cuisinarts 10 times" =)

you can most definitely teleport somehow into the middle of square lake, I am by no means an expert at this game but I know I didn't fight 20-30 groups of monsters on the way in there.

I must admit, this is one of the few times I've actually been anxious to wake up and check the forums and doubly so when coming home from work! This is DEFINITELY a run I wanna see! [And for M&M1, that game was so heavily violated, it was barely recognizable.. and it's not as well known as M&M2 or 3 for that fact.. not that it wasn't a cool run.] Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Discussion on versions and sequence breaks Andrew schultz, who was working with the original apple version, wrote in his gamefaqs guide that you can skip kalohn. (Don't know if he actually tested it.) This would save a lot of time. I tried going straight to the end and got rejected (edit: in both versions): The genesis port (1991) is one of the latest ones, which means it might have all the sequence breaks plugged up. What's more, the only genesis version I see is REV01 which means there could be a glitchier REV00 out there. It seems as though the SNES version came out earlier, in 1988 (?!) but there is no (U) version for it. Interestingly, the (J) snes port came out much later in 1993 and has redone graphics with character portraits. Kelly Flewin: I see in your useful guide, for square lake, there are a bunch of secret passages. I couldn't find any in the genesis game and had to do all the encounters. Were you using the SNES version?

Actually, I was happily playing the PC Version ^_^ [Hence why everything has (PC) beside it. I will have to go map hunting in my archives to find out more details. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

According to GoodGens, the only ones around for genesis are REV01, however there is an (E) version available for the SNES version. I don't know if it's an '88 version or a '93 version though.

Hi. Seeing this makes me remember a cheat I used back in the day. I don't remember how it worked right now, but it was used so the sixth equipped item was exchanged for another when using another item. I think it's related to an item being discharged and becoming a null space, and then producing a "0 to 255" error when reducing it further... I remember having a lv.1 team full of great equipment like star bows or disintegration items by exchanging healing herbs for other stuff, then using recharging to add charges to the glitched items... I will go try if I can remember the exact procedure and post it here. By the way, I used the european version, I am unsure if it's related. I am glad someone decided to run this game :) EDIT: I gave it a quick check and I guess it revolves around "useless items", charges and the 6th item slot or 6th equipment slot. I am still unsure of the details though...maybe I need to check if it was recharging useless items or whatever...then again, I am using the US rom at the moment instead of the EU version. You can check that any item placed on the 6th item slot always appears to be discharged even if it's not, so it may be possible on the US one too.

so you are saying you can glitch "useless item" into whatever you want by recharging it? how about quest items eg element orb?

I know ASchultz, so if you want me to ask how he did it, I can send out a line.

but i think his kalohn-skipping method involves using a password. so i cannot use that.

Since the item ID was altered, I think it worked, however there were some quests that required completion and not just the item, although I don't remember which ones. I was a bit busy to try, so I am going to get the European ROM and try to reproduce the glitch (I lost the cart long ago...), since I was unable to replicate it in the US ROM. Merry Christmas.
