Well I can say for sure that gauntlet legends and Rogue squadron don't work very well at all. DK64 works on PJ64, but not Mupen. The turok games also run pretty good.

Well, it's there but how can I contribute when I can't even edit it?

only editors (such as myself) can edit the actual page. (to note, the phrase 'feel free to edit this' really is only limited to the few number of editors here.) major/minor contributions from non editors (the majority) should be directly PMed to me or posted here so that I can add them in. Bisqwit got the huge list of ROMs up. next up is make the large chart where all data will be, and make a section at the bottom for additionaly information for each ROM, which can be linked to in the chart itself that will bring you down to the respective game. (I'm thinking linked numbers, that directly brings you down to the number [#1] brings you to [1] at the bottom seems easier rather than making separate web pages for all ROMs.)

Well since there was a lot to change, I made a page from the list that is more organized, I split the games between, japan only, sports (not all sports, just ones I figured would be no good to do), and the rest. Some are missing and some may still be duped. It is located at http://tas.schtuff.com/n64_games_list I can make pages on games later and if you want to make an account, (free, no email required) I can make it so you can edit the page. Or take this if you like the format and edit it in here.

There's no need for the tilt on this page. Everything before "However, it is the goal of this page to create a few things:" could be removed without losing the page's focus. You sound like the back of a game box.

That is a good separation of the types of ROMs. I really suspect sports games to not make for good TASes, and the japanese ones very few people are familiar with, but there are gems there (Sin and Punishment ;-p); and its handy to have them in the separate categories. Your list is superior, so I'll try to change that today, and possibly create the chart where all data will be.

I made the aims of the page (the 7 goals) come first for straightforwardness, then put the long introduction afterwards, because despite being alittle long it still has a lot of useful info in it. Currently working on updating the list to separate it into the three categories.

I'm not sure if that is the best method for displaying ROM info (TAS suitibility, if it has a TAS, link for WIP/test run, screen shot, description of the game) but it's actually a great idea. I made an account there, I might have to check it out. If it's easy to make those pages, it might end up being the method. Pilotwings 64 has a lag problem; the V/I's ranges between 30 and 40, when it should be 60, making the game slower than it is due to lag. may be due to plugin choice, I'll try the others and see if this occurs again.

I added you as administrator, feel free to change whatever if you think adding a category is a good idea. It's really easy to make pages too.

Would Quake 64 be a good choice or redundant? Unlike the PC version, you can't aim while moving and bunnyhopping doesn't make you go faster, so I'm not sure if people would want to watch a TAS of it when quake done quick (with a vengeance) is already available.

If it allows new techs/shortcuts impossible in the PC version (or at least in an unassisted run) and doesn't have ludicrous amounts of lag (I'm looking at you, Duke Nukem 64!), then likely yes. But no, it won't be as impressive as QdQwav, and even less so than its upcoming improvement.

I had a look into Quake 64 and it seems a poor choice for 2 reasons 1. Massive loading times 2. No Overworld, you do each level in order so there is no early rocket or grenade launcher making much of the run pointless, but all the stuff seen in the PC version does work.

I'm not sure if it is possible to bunnyhop in Quake 64, even though AKA says it is. The highest controller sensitivity turns you too fast to gain any speed, but using a lower sensitivity would mean I can't confront enemies as quickly.

In a TAS you'd want the sensitivty to be as high as possible, its more than possible to get the right control desired although making it looks smooth is another thing, plus high sensitivity looks more sureal as well.

Well this is a tough situation, since more surreal != more pleasing. How significant the bhopping is in this game?

I could test the bunny hopping and aiming/shooting/sensitivity. But I feel that Qdq with a vengeance was not what makes a TAS trivial, but the Quake done double quick co-op. that was an amazing vid, and was practically perfectly executed for sheer brilliant co-op strategies, like shooting each other in the back with shotgun, completing objectives separately, and shooting a grenade in the exact spot for the other player to jump off of. the early grenade/rocket launchers coupled with team play made all levels significantly faster, and Quake 64 does not have co-op play.

Bunnyhopping is very significant. In fact, the majority of the 4+ minutes that Quake done quick with a vengeance saved over Quake done quicker was due to bunnyhopping.

I mean Quake 64, not just Quake.

No, it doesn't. It has a lot of N64-exalting bias which really isn't necessary. That's fine for something like your personal page, but really throws up a flag on a page made for site contribution. If the aim of the page is to get a database of information to help get more people to consider TASing N64 games, then leave it at that. If a rationale must be stated, this sentence you've included does the job succintly:
N64Wishlist.html wrote:
it is the hope that if research was done for all N64 ROMs, on whether it can be run or not, if someone is already doing it, or if it is suitable for TASing, that it will be easier for newcomers to pick a game to run.
As an example,
N64Wishlist.html wrote:
The smallest branch of TASing, N64, is growing as more people look to bigger games with more sophisticated mechanics, full analog 360 degree movement, and more complex, in-depth environments, characters, enemies, and goals.
I am getting the impression that N64 TASing is "better" than TASing games for other systems by reading the sentence, as if people become bored with TASing other systems because they are so simple. Again, fine for a personal page, but not needed on a page like this.

Oh. In that case, I don't know, because I've never gotten it to work.

you're both correct and not correct. there is N64 bias and yet there is still important technical information in the introduction that is needed. I'll try editing it again, taking out what you perceive as "N64 exaltedness" but my aim of the introduction is still technical info, and a basic background. edit: removed the first paragraph (because that was the main paragraph that had bias) and spaced out the rest of the intro a little. I looked at it from different viewpoints, and it seems unbiased to me now. please feel free to point out any phrases that you still think are favoritist. Quake 64 I've gotten to work, but I need to find a better plugin because the video wasn't that great and everything is see-through.

What I meant was that I've gotten Quake 64 to work, but not bunnyhopping.

comicalflop, I took a quick look at your introduction, and it looks much better now than it did yesterday. The only sentence I have a problem with now is this one: "plus the many difficulties of optimizing 3 dimensional movement, the added depth and complexity, [...] makes N64 TASing seem very daunting" It's the only sentence left of your biased N64-exalting text. Remove it (maybe move it to a pesonal page, like JXQ mentioned), and you're good to go.

bunny hopping works, as does straferunning. the controls are a little weird though, but both are doable. edit: alright Fabian, thanks, will do.
