  • Emulator used: FCE Ultra 0.98.12-blip
  • Length of movie: 105508
  • Aims for the fastest time possible
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Uses no warps/passwords
  • Manipulates luck
Description of the movie:
I tried to collect as few fruits as possible. Fern Island i change skateboard to dinosaur to speed up.
Level 2-2 and 8-5 there is little bug. When i finish stage, time starting go down too early :o I dunno why this happens but, it's only positive i save some time ;)
When you get different egg you go diffrent stage. Thats why i take egg 8 Island 5. I get straight to boss level.
8-5 i use Pterodactyl to fly over the water.

adelikat: Rejecting This movie is highly improvable. Currently Baxter is working on a warped run. In the comparable levels, there is over 30 seconds of improvements made so far compared to this run.
Also, most have expressed a preference for a warped run and find this full run much more boring without showing off any additional features of the game.
The fact that it is improvable and a poor goal choice leads me to reject this movie.

This was far better than the version(s?) previously submitted. Nice route you took! It seems that you actually timed some of the routes, which I think is great! I do think a run with warps is more interesting, since it'll shorten the movie a bit, since the game is pretty linear. I did some testing on it, for a warp-run, so I'm pretty familiar with the game. The game is pretty easy, and this movie is not as optimized as it could be, and [since the game is not too hard] not as optimized as it should be. Therefor, voting 'no'.

I'd use the cheat code to go to island 8 and beat the game there without any power-ups. That's the real chalenge in this game.

That's a non-TAS challenge... it's easy to do with tools (obviously), and not that entertaining (imo). It would be cool to see someone do it without using tools, but I don't see the point in TASing that.

Ahh, yes, about time someone gave this a for real attempt. Looks good for what I can see. At first I wondered why you had some pauses in the 'Choose an Egg' room, but I imagine it was to manipulate what level you got next. Nice work making use of the Dinos. Yes vote from me.

Can't there be two seperate runs, one with warps and one without? If you use a warping password at all you'll have to go straight to the final island. And while that'll make for a shorter movie you'll miss out on the whole game.

warping password
o_O Don't you know that there's warps like in SMB to skip worlds? Plus, there's no password in that game. Though, there's a level select trick.

Voting yes. This is a game I tried many times to beat (and failed), and it is nice to see it played. I only was bored during the bonus round, although that cannot be helped unless you find something insane to do while wating for it to finish. It is possible the run can be improved, but I doubt total improvements will total a minute even if they were found.

The level select trick was what I was refering to, though I didn't know there were warps like in SMB. But even so, there are still warpless and nonwarpless versions of SMB runs, so shouldn't the same apply here? This is a warpless run of Adventure Island II.

well I will vote yes because this is a good run and there is no warps version nor one being worked on. (why I am voting for a run that I don't think should be published, I don't know, maybe because it is so late) IF this runs is published though, I would hope that a warp run REPLACES this one. Things I like: good optimization of the dinosuars you noodles around differently in each egg room (little details like that make me happy) good minimizing of your health bar Things I don't like: Unlike the smb series, the game is a bit repetitive when all the worlds are played. The extra levels are similar and don't really add much.

Very nice movie Sami! :) As always, high quality TAS from you! Really fast boss battles, and that blue dinosaur sure could run fast without moving his feet too much. :P Voting Yes!
