How do you get the red boomerang without getting the blue one? Don't you get the red by throwing the blue into a fairy fountain?

You get the red one from a chest in Kakariko Village if you don't have a boomerang. Tompa, please don't give up on this. Perhaps getting that many coins will actually add to the entertainment of the run; if that's the case, I don't think the upgrades are that bad of an idea. It's not hard for people to just fast forward through five minutes of coin tossing if they don't want to watch it. Think of it kind of like the LoZ swordless run, which was well-received: as long as your definition is solidly justifiable, people will accept it. What have you been working on lately anyway? I look forward to your runs.

In my opinion, this is the only sensible definition and I'm quite sure most people here would agree. I say just go for it.

'Tis a sensible definition. But really, it's your run. You should not let yourself be discouraged by the fact that people disagree on a 100% definition. It's all about what YOU want to do, right? I believe that regardless of your definition, it should provide entertainment, and for me, that is enough.

I will at least not get back to this any time soon, DKC really has to be finished first. And that is what I'm currently working on, Snorlax. But that project takes forever because I'm such a frame whore... I also want to improve my any% run of ALttP, as it is improveable by at least 30 seconds, probably more.

...Just do that then. I assume you would have the most fun with this project with goals which you want to do? So yeah, what EEssentia said. I just wanted to say myself, the point I was trying to make when I asked the question. Anyway, looking forward to when you back to this.

Regarding the blue boomerang skip in hyrule castle: I saw the ALttP 1:52:09 SS 100% JP (around 00:57:18 video time) and I was wondering is it possible to get the red boomerang in that dark world village house in the english/french games versions? or is that a JP thing only? also, if it is there in any version of the game, when is it available there? after getting some crystals or you can get it directly as soon as you reach the village? is it true that instead of the boomerang, you get rupees if you ALREADY have a boomerang? let me know please, thanks a lot. It's possible, not JP only, at any time, it is true.

Bumping time! I've started to improve the 1:16 run on the site. This time I'm using the Japanese version because of several timesaving glitches exclusive to that version. As well as using 1.51 instead of 1.43, which means a lot of time will be lost because of extra lag. Current WIP gets the Pegasus Boots and is about 20 seconds faster (Extra lag frames not included) than the previous run. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1440575308/ALttPAny%25ImprovementJP.smv Edit: Major error found (10 frames), redoing the end part of the dungeon.

Pretty soon all the Zelda runs on the site will be using the Japanese version! How much of the improvement is due to the timesaving glitches vs. the faster text?

Oh, my, that was great. All the new tricks were pretty damn cool, especially the moments when Zelda disappeared

I calculated the text differences awhile ago. Here is the result of that: http://pastebin.com/HKu9Axj0 Should be noted that it was made using SNES9X 1.43. The frame numbers are higher on 1.51, so it won't be 100% accurate when comparing to the run I'm doing. Also the fact that my route will be different in the new run, so some of these texts won't even be in the run. So far about 104 frames have been saved thanks to Japanese text. The new glitches used aren't JP only, but there will be such glitches later on. Random guess is that it will save about 1½-2 minutes thanks to those.

Damn, Snes9x 1.51 doesn't work for me for some reason. All the other versions work fine. Is there any encode of this wip?

Tompa beat me to it, but here's an encode using TASBlend so you can see the 60fps left+right/up+down shenanigans better :) Link to video

Tompa - forgive my ignorance, but aren't you using the OOB glitch that is forbidden, since the glitched run uses it?

Man, it's messed up how you can move so fast. Who needs the Pegasus Boots anyway? Looking good!

Darkkobold: I'm not using that glitch, no. If you mean the throne room, I did a glitch to freeze the camera (Holding up+left+right when going up the stairs) which will make the thing you have to push to not spawn in the game. The Exploration Glitch (Walking in the wrong layer) is never going to be used.

It looks to be like there is a 100% TAS now: Link to video Also, That is a nice WIP Tompa! Its nice to know that there are JPN specific glitches as well. That's gonna make things a whole lot less chaotic when it comes to people complaining.

That is just the 100% theory TAS made by Audity and/or Krystal (I don't remember who actually made it ;D). It's supposed to be what a perfect console run would look like. An actual 100% TAS would be a lot different. For my TAS, I'm struggling with the tile room in Hera's Tower. I hate it...

I was trying to make a run for April 1st with the any% glitched run when I noticed that somehow I was 1 sub pixel ahead outside Link's house. The problem is with this advantage Link hits his head on the root of the tree and I ended up losing the sub pixel :( anyway, the game is really pleasant to TAS (at least the part I did so far), and I'm tempted to give the any% glitched run a try.
I am old enough to know better, but not enough to do it.
