Uh, yeah, it should be possible to record from power-on without resets.

Just for future reference, videos recorded with Jabo 1.6 will sync with Glide Napalm. However it turns out that some video cards display a black sceen when reseting the game with Napalm selected. And please tell me you didnt start the TAS from a savestate zvsp

Well he's been doing this as a test-run the entire time, right? You were gonna go back and do it "for real"?

Hey, I finished all part. Rainbow Palace 1/2 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_VVuMoyz84 Rainbow Palace 2/2 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdFGbBlxTTA I read old log and tried to keep zooming, I think it reduced a lot of lag (but there is still much lag). And sorry I can't understand English well. After all, I'll start real run recording from snapshot. (Japanese TASers also helped me about this) However, I still hesitates about skipping cutscenes or not.

If you want to submit the run here, I recommend that you use the U version for 2 reasons: -I think the U ROM is less laggy; at least it seems that way to me, when comparing with BoMF's old testrun. -Unless the J ROM has some sort of time-saving trick that you cannot perform in the U version, you should use U. Also, if submitting, you should definitely start the run from power-on, not from savestate. Any of the cutscene skipping stuff is nice and all, but that all requires SRAM. Honestly, the run is going to be good enough on its own, a few cutscenes here and there is not going to be that big of a deal, especially since long segments of time are spent inside the levels, unlike say Knuckles Chaotix where 30 seconds of gameplay is interspersed between 2 minute cutscenes.

But if someone could just fix the reset button, you could start from power-on and still skip the beginning story just fine!

Do not start the real run from a snapshot, it will not be accepted. You have to start a run from reset.

I'm watching the testrun vids on YouTube and I'm loving it so far, zvsp. If you get the SRAM issues taken care of, you'll have one of the best N64 runs on the site.

How's the 100% TAS coming along? I would absolutely love to see this run published. It could compete with the SMW2: YI run quite easily, in terms of sheer awesomeness.

At least I don't have any plan to make that... : Mainly the graphic plugin is incomplete, I wanna use glide Napalm because of accurate transparency but credit movie isn't shown correctly at all with it. Also, if recording from reset, it'll black out. It may be hard that runs are published.

I'd like to make this my next project. I'll try to make a WIP of the first stage using both a reset to skip the first cutscene and glide64 'final' video plugin. Wish me luck!

YAY. You took my suggestion and decided to go with it! Thank you very, very much! I loved this game when I played it and I would love to see you rip it to shreds! All of your videos are such high quality in terms of content, so I can't wait to see what you'll do to this one!

I'm looking forward to your work. Have you already resolved graphical problems?

Good news; the reset works perfectly! 2 minutes saved, just like that! Also, the Glide64 'final' video plugin just looks fantastic.

Wow, one of my first N64 games. I can only wish you the best of luck with your TAS!
I am old enough to know better, but not enough to do it.

AWESOME. I was worried about the resetting being a problem! I can't wait for your first WIP. Will you go for any-% and just beat Altar, or will you go for 100% and beat the true final boss?

Update: I am currently in 1-3. Progress is coming along. Building bomb towers is much harder than I expected. I am a fair amount of time faster than the any% WIP because of both the reset and general optimization. I expect the final time to be ~24 minutes unless I find something major. ^^
