I know this is small potatoes but when on the character select screen, it should be faster to select Hard difficulty, then move up to character. The cursor should have less distance to scroll. Why Classic instead of Adventure mode?
First, this is a TAS aiming for entertainment, not pure speed. I tried adventure mode and got bored before I could do anything. Adventure is simply boring. Plus it has been done with AR by SDM already, playing Fox.

I always thought some games should have IL-Lists. SSBM would be a good candidate for things like BtT or event matches. Watching every charakter beat his BtT-Stage in a single movie would become boring very quickly, but with ILs you could only watch the ones you're interested in. And it would definitly be better than searching for every single record seperately on the internet.

Why not both Classic Mode and Adventure Mode? I'm certain both would be published on this site. Now how on Earth did that game know you would select Captain Falcon before you even left the title screen?
Why, oh, why do I even try to understand my own species?

Not to stifle your progress on this, but it's entirely possible for a submission of this to be judged against the published [1190] N64 Super Smash Bros. "playaround" by Blaze in 08:19.67, due to being so similar in content and game play. Separate titles and even separate platforms do not automatically grant the submission an uncontested spot in the publications. The most recent example of this would be [1810] NES Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team "2 Players" by feos in 17:41.14 obsoleting [1356] SNES Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team "2 players" by White Gastra in 17:50.27. I realize that was straight-forward remake, so I can't say for sure if a GC SSBM TAS will be put up against the N64 SSB movie, but it would behoove you to at least try to one-up the level of game play present in that movie to have a strong chance of being published in either case. Just something to think about. Looking forward to your future WIPs.

I agree with you. But yet, the current submission of ssb64 have been published for being the most entertaining of all the submissions. Also, it is stated that those aiming for pure speed were rejected for being boring. Therefore, my goal is to have an entertaining TAS. I made a good part of the WIP as of now. I'm at "Race to the finish", waiting for ideas, so it can be flashy and entertaining. If the current submission of ssb64 was submitted for entertainment, I am very, very confident my submission will be as well.

I don't think that SSBM will have to compete with SSB for "publication rights". They're different games. We have multiple Street Fighter games represented on the site; I don't see why we couldn't have multiple Smash Bros. games too. Of course each game has to be strong on entertainment, but that's always the case. Best of luck with your run!

If anything, SSBM will replace ssb64. SSBM > all. Wak, as a hardcore Melee fan, Falcon main, and TASer, I encourage you to raise the stakes. The WIP looks like a really good Falcon getting off, but there was nothing jaw-dropping to it. I would vote no based on the first level. I've been spoiled by Perfect Dark and Silent Wolf tech skill and combo videos.

Hey, if you got all characteristics of the above, why don't you help me out? =). Since most AR or TAS videos that have been done so far for Melee had more than 1 person involved on it (perfect control 2 had like 15 people), I feel alone to be the only one trying to amaze there. Therefore, you should contact me.

I watched your WIP. The fighting stages were very entertaining, but I didn't like BtT/RttF that much. I think you should go for fastest time on these stages instead of playing around. But that's just my opinion...

Young Link and Jigglypuff battles were good. I tend to agree with the sentiments that targets and race to the finish should be done for time. Trophies you can probably show off. In the early matches you were just abusing the computer player's terrible directional influence, which isn't really impressive to me to be honest. I've been pretty critical of smash bros TASes in the past because they are really hard to categorize, and even if we assume they are playarounds, they show off a whole 4% of the characters or something. Beyond that, it is very hard to make beating on cpus more entertaining than a well coordinated TAS 2 player match in my opinion.

Because right now people wanting best time on BTT and RTTF have been half an half with those wanting entertainment... I will assume I will never please everyone by making such a TAS. Therefore, I will make the decision myself. I will go for entertainment, sorry to tell. There is already a BTT video of falcon on page 2, and RTTF is god damn boring period.

I actually really liked the RTTF ending, though the backwards running and walljumping got old after a bit. Maybe if you used more of Falcon's specials for movement? You probably have enough time to Falcon Punch your way along a short platform, let alone Falcon Kick. I don't have any good ideas for making BTT entertaining. It'd be nice to see more item use in the run, if possible.

It wasn't bad IMO, but knowing TASVideos people, my guess is it won't get accepted.

vs Fox: You shouldn't abuse the fact that CPUs don't tech or DI badly. Do a knee like in your previous video. vs Pika,Kirby: Everything ok until you spiked Kirby. I wouldn't like CF to wait, finish with double Dair right away. Or even if you wait, don't knee because I don't want to see CF use his recovery jump - that part didn't look so impressive... Btt: Was amusing, but I think you should do the WR strat. vs DK: I didn't like the falcon punch. Just do a knee or upair (or dair spike?). vs Yoshi: Is good. Trophies: Good. vs Ylink: Good. vs Jigglypuff team: Don't pause. I don't know, but I didn't like this falcon punch either. RTTF: I think you should go for fastest time here as well. vs Metal dr.mario: Was ok, maybe would like to see more comboing here but I'm not sure. In short: You should do Btt and RTTF for fastest time, you shouldn't do falcon punches that hit because the CPU was jumping into it stupidly, you shouldn't pause ever. For the record, I really liked the other attempts that have been made at Classic mode. If more TASes like these were to be submitted to this site in the future, how should they be handled? Someone in this thread suggested to have lists implemented, it's similar to my idea that I've been representing in the past a couple times already. Implement a page for each game and list the publications for it, rather than having one page for each movie. So in the case of SSBM, you could have many publications (or many links in one big list, linking to HRC and Btt and other TASes). In my opinion, it really should be done like this, rather than having any "is this Classic Mode Fox TAS more entertaining than the Adventure Mode Falco TAS" discussions... Just show them alongside.

I'd like to see a fastest time TAS for Classic mode. Actually, I'd like to see fastest time for all modes.

I don't think fastest time on the bonus stages looks boring. I remember when i first saw a run of RttF on YT, and was really impressed at how fast it can be completed with damageboosting. Yes, a SSBM-Nerd may find it boring, but most of the casual viewers haven't seen such videos (there not that easy to find) For BtT, you can find an endless amount of times on the internet, but again, a complete list with recent times isn't easy to find. In a TAS you always know, this is the fastest possible way to do this. Oh and one more thing. You didn't start from a fresh file. The site normally doesn't allow this, unless there is a good reason for it. You're using a start charakter anyway, so there is no reason to not following this rule.

I won't work on any project until you guys made up your mind. You all want to see something, and no one wants to see the same thing. Consequence: no matter what I do, 50% of people will dislike.

You have to realize that you will never be able to please everybody. This issue happens all the time. The best and easiest course of action is to simply do whatever it is YOU enjoy the most, and submit it. As much as it may seem like it, TASvideos is not the be all end all of tool-assisted movies. Even if it's not accepted, a completed movie will hold merit to somebody, even if that somebody is only you.

I think TASes should be allowed to start from a completed save in this game. Having a complete save affects the TAS in that there are secret characters to battle against. Also, I don't see what's negative about using a complete save anyway... Maybe if you do an "all event matches" TAS, you could start from cleared SRAM, but then again I think it's the best to have single videos for each event match (also because you have to manipulate Peach in event 50 to grab a stitchface which can only be manipulated by waiting in battle prior to that event as far as I know, or the event with the giant Yoshi that takes quite some luck to pull the fastest time off).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiMVu_nUZzM My second work. This time I used Fox, because I knew it was potential for more awesomeness, even though I know he's been overused in TASing for now. I might redo samus, because I'm not satisfied with
