Ha, ha. Posting Mission Street of all levels is cruel guys... especially how much Talon has been gushing how great all the stuff he saw between Prison Lane and Mission Street is! Looking great. Keep up the fantastic work.

If anyone want's to further look into how to disable kill planes, right about now is a pretty good time. I'm still fairly convinced that it's not possible to do on GC, but I guess we can't say for sure until someone understands why it happens on PC.

No, not that I'm aware of. It's happened to a good 5 or 6 PC runners. Some of them have it highlighted on Twitch, but it seems like there's a lot that has to be done before the glitch actually activates, and no one knows what steps are needed. The majority of cases happen during Hero Story speedruns, and we have pretty good reason to believe that doing this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaAXWypm_so is an important step. Since in some (all?) cases of kill planes disappearing, this was done during the run.

Can you provide me the link to the highlight? I got no ideas right now, but maybe I can notice something strange on it.

Apparently Twitch deleted all the ones I knew about! <_< Here's a highlight of the other glitch happening in a run that later disabled kill planes http://www.twitch.tv/a_moustache/c/4833882 but the full highlight is no where to be found, along with all the past broadcasts...

That's just like your video. Since there's no documented occurrences of the glitch, the only option is to ask what the people who have triggered it, what they remember doing after that fight, and test everything :/

I figure I might as well keep this thread up to date, even with levels we aren't releasing publicly. Hidden Base is done.

I assume you're optimizing Hidden Base for game clock instead of real time?

We optimized Hidden Base (just like the whole TAS) for real time, because if we aimed for in game time we'd lose like 1-2 seconds due to doing the time stop glitch (go into the sand and touch a spring, so the timer stops but you don't actually die). We would get like 12 seconds less in the timer if we did the glitch, though.

Well, it took two full months of hard work and procrastination, but Pyramid Cave is basically done now. We're looking at a sub 50 end time, making it the fastest completely Sonic IL to date. Though, that'll change once we get to Crazy Gadget. :)

Link to video quality game. I guess this could be used in 180 if someone goes completely insane and wants to TAS a 8-9 hour category.

I'd love to see such a TAS, especially because of the Chao stuff ^^

Sunglasses aren't actually needed in 180, but at a loss of about 9 seconds to obtain them, Death Chamber 2 will probably make it worthwhile by itself. Pumpkin Hill 5 also saves time if the suicide launch doesn't work, which is still an edge case that I'm not sure has been explored properly.

yeah you don't actually need them, but it's my understanding that they save more time than they take to get, especially with this strat.

Update on the Hero Story TAS: We've just completed Crazy Gadget with a previously unimaginably low time. Two Bosses (that shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to optimize) and Final Rush are all that remain. New years is in a week. TAS of 2014, anyone?
