I'm posting this simultaneously in the N64 and GBA forums. I want to do a game in the Banjo-Kazooie series for this site, however, I am HORRID at route planning and the nature of these games is route planning. Would someone kindly help me, or better, do a run themselves? I know my fair share of time-saving tricks in Grunty's Revenge, so I may be able to help there.

Any% and 100% TASes of this game could be just as entertaining as the first game. I played a little of this one little over a year ago. I kinda got stuck though. xD I'd definately watch TASes for it.

I agree. I could try TASing this to see what it's like. But I'd like to know if there are any known graphical errors, etc. with the [U] ROM.

There don't seem to be any errors for me at the moment which is good, and thanks to Anavrin for finding those values. The next thing to decide is whether the run will be an any% or a 100%. Any opinions or suggestions?

Personally, you should do what you feel you should. Don't let us dictate which one you do. I'm sure either way, both will get done eventually. Everyone knows I lean more toward 100% runs, anyway. xD

Question, what is the minimum amount of Jigsaw Pieces needed to complete the game? I know there is 60 in total.

i played this game, and itrs amzzing, just a litle dificult to get how the control work. since the camera dont turn 360o. when you finish the game with all the pieces you will get the rreal ending, otherwise, in the final scene, you will get lots of banjos. there is a lots of walkthough in gamefaqs. i sugest some reading there. thats texts help me a lot when i used to play this game

Ok, I have decided on a 100% run as opposed to any%. Something to note: I think I will be avoiding collecting any normal honeycomb pieces. The first time you collect one, it activates a Bozzeye scene where he explains what they are, and this takes a little bit of time. That means that all routes will have to not let Banjo lose damage, he can't afford to lose.

The scene couldn't take up that much time, could it? Maybe there are some places where it'd be faster to take damage, offsetting the time needed to gain more health...
Why, oh, why do I even try to understand my own species?

yep i suggest taking the honey, so in the future you can use your energy to save some time. like walking in the acid, or lava in the beggining there will be a lot of these Bozzeye scenes, every time you find him, and you just cant avoid then, becuase he teaches you the special moves, and you will need every move to advance in the levels

If you pick up a normal honeycomb piece for the first time in the Klungo battle, you will not get that particular Bozzeye scene (even if you pick some up later).

Bump. In case anyone's interested in this game, I made an unoptimized TAS (only ~3k rerecords) of this game, in a "low%" category where the goal is to collect as little as possible. Although the movement is not very precise it may give you some ideas if you want to do a high-quality TAS of Grunty's Revenge. For instance, you can skip fire eggs now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtiLsOjf69U I'd be happy to upload the movie file if anyone wants it.

I'm typically a sucker for low% routes in games where you gain abilities, so I'm watching this with interest. It's probably best to advertise the run as a route demonstration, because that's pretty much what it is.

Speaking of Banjo-Kazooie low%s, doesn't the original Banjo-Kazooie also have an interesting low% route?

Well, the RBA any% route people use in Banjo-Kazooie is pretty close to low%. The Banjo speedrun leaderboard lists a bunch of RBA runners if you want to check them out. That route only requires 810 notes and 41 jiggies, which is minimal. I wouldn't really call it a proper low% though, because they don't go for the minimum number of moves - it should definitely be possible to skip some moves at the expense of speed and fast jiggies. It's also possible to entirely skip Mumbo tokens, by transforming into a washing machine to get free transformations, although a low% run wouldn't need to do that :p

Yeah low% in banjo kazooie is minimum moves. I've never seen a speedrun of it, just a run through the game to prove that it's possible.
