This is my new, redone run of Amagon.
The specs:
  • Used FCEU 0.98.13 (nitsuja) to make the movie.
  • Used no warps or passwords (there are none)
  • Took no damage (Amagon)
  • Took damage to save time (Megagon)
  • No Deaths
  • Fastest Possible Time
The story:
"Amagon, the most decorated Marine, was assigned a mission by his commander to investigate a strange, moster-infested South Pacific island, from which no man has ever returned alive.
With a machine gun as his only weapon, he took off by plane and crash-landed on the island's beachhead.
Amagon, with his unique ability to transform into the huge Megagon, there begins his mission to become first to conquer the island.
See and experience the amazing adventures of our hero, Amagon!! His rescue ship is waiting at the other side of the island."
It took me long enough but I finally did it. I was finally able to redo my Amagon run. I would like to thank you all for telling me to redo this run, because each time I watched the run I submitted last time, I saw how sloppy it truly was. I can't believe I thought that would get published. Anyway, this is the new version.
I used the edgeboost trick absolutely everywhere it would let me. I tested every edge I came to to see if I could edgeboost. If I do not use the edgeboost it was because I was unable to. Either the ledge wouldn't let me or boosting would result in death.
I used different tactics on most enemies. I was able to save a ton of time by using frame advance to fire as fast as possible and kill more enemies with Amagon. I tried to avoid transforming into Megagon as much as possible because it takes over 200 frames just to transform. Not to mention it is much tougher as Amagon because 1 hit = death. Megagon was used mainly to kill bosses.
About Megagon: Amagon can transform into Megagon when he gets the Mega Key. The Mega Key is dropped by enemies you kill. Once you have the Mega Key you can transform at any time by pressing 'Select'. Megagon has health and can take hits as long as he doesn't run out of health. His health is determined by how many points you have when you transform. 5,000 points gives you one notch on the health bar, so if you have 25,000 points when you transform you will have 5 notches on the health bar. Megagon has two attacks: a close range punch and a ranged energy blast. The energy blasts costs health to use (1 notch) but is very powerful. I take out most bosses with it.
My previous attempt finishes the game in 68772 frames. This run finishes the game in 66456 frames. I saved a grand total of 2316 frames because of better optimization, using the edgeboost much more often, and less use of Megagon.
Well, I think I touched on everything. I want to thank all those who have been waiting for this to be finished. I'm sorry it took me so long. I hope you'll enjoy this, it was one hell of a ride for me.

adelikat: I have followed the progress of this run and I am naturally accepting it. This is a good game and Tailz has shown good work here.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wish Amagon had a bigger gun. That would've made things a lot easier.

A very interesting concept for a game (let's send a marine off to some island and see if he survives...), but a good run nonetheless. The edge boost trick surely saved a lot of time, and the boss battles were over ridiculously fast. "You have survived your mission. The End..." Best. Ending. Ever. Voting yes :)

Very nice movie Tailz! :) Nice use of the edge-boost trick, and overall nice improvements here and there. Voting Yes, of course!

I think the only thing I like better than the ending in this game is Amagon's incredibly bizarre hair color. =P

Impossible Mission 2 has the best ending EVER! Even better then Amagon.

While watching the movie, my main thought was "damn, he skips so many edges he could otherwise boost from", but after reading the submission text, I understood that wasn't possible everywhere. Nice work, then. :)

Yeah, I was unable to edgeboost everywhere unfortunately. I'm not sure what distinguishes one edge from another but it must be a big enough difference to keep me from boosting on it.

The reasons Im voting Yes: Just look at the character... looking like a ZZ Top member who just shaved. Is the character walking by his feet or his knees? :) Very cool and solid run.

Weird game. The weapon of this guy seems to be an electric guitar that shoots cherries. Also, somehow, I expected that the last screen after the "you survived your mission" screen would show a shipwreck. :) But the musics of this game are quite annoying.

I think this game is on par with cheetah men series... I wouldn't play it even if i got paid. The movie on the other hand was very well made. I won't vote since it won't change anything :)

I had that on my mind the entire time watching this. The movie is technically good and I enjoyed the character's awkward movements (especially when he's big).

Nice Run! It sorta looked like you were able to jump while you were about to fall when I first watched this on my Emulator. How do you kill that Lion in Stage 1-1 as Amagon (If I remember correctly)? I tried using a Turbo Controller and he doesn't take enough hits to die.
I like Doraemon
