OKAY, I lied!! THAT wasn't my final attempt on Choujin Sentai. Yeah, it's ridiculous, but I made another improvement for my first TAS. But I have an excuse. Just listen to THIS track (rare opening theme for Jetman TV series!) and if you played the game, you'll understand what powerful motivation such things can deliver.
When I was mindlessly playing ChoujinSentai (maybe for 100th time or so) I figured little trick about sticking to ceiling while holding A button. That's why I rewrote 2 levels and saved 1.5 seconds, but before submitting new FCM I tried to revise every action - to ensure 1-frame-perfectness of the movie.
For example, I decided to change first level into pacifist mode (+ playing with death), choosing red ranger - saved 17 frames on select screen. Even if you prefer action, 1st level should be interesting (and short) to watch. At 2nd level I show interesting feature that can be considered as a bug - when you precisely jump under a platform you are able to continue rising even after character bumps into ceiling. It looks and feels like double-jump, but can't be abused.
Something else was changed...... well, summing up, every stage was modified to save several frames from each. I don't know what I was going to do without hexeditor.
Thanks to nesrocks for last level's vertical shaft tactic. At first I was sure that it's impossible to use gravity there (there's not much room for jumping), but when I changed whole level strategy I managed to perform a jump down the shaft, which saved 5 frames.
2 boss battles were changed to look better (and faster by several frames), but other seem to be frame-perfect. Also, last battle was rewritten for another creative way of time-saving. In last battle player can stop recording with the last hit being initiated, so it's better to save energy shot for last action, cause it makes more damage than normal punch (but also takes more time to release). That's why movie stops when boss is still alive, but previous input guarantees that battle will be won.
As a result, speedrun time was reduced by 229 frame. This file was made about month ago, whithin this month I haven't found anything to improve in it, so I HOPE IT IS THE WORLD'S LAST TAS OF THE GAME.

adelikat: A lot of work went into this run. Good job. Accepting.

Yeah, I remember this game. Not that it (the game) was very interesting, but you did a nice job nonetheless, especially on zone E. Voted yes. By the way, in the last stage there were two turrets that held you back a couple of frames (it's about the only place in the game where you interrupt your constant movement). Is it possible to avoid the resulting slowdown by shooting them from the distance or something?

IMO, it's not possible due to this level design (high platforms without much of space to jump), like with this vertical shaft right after them. I tried hundreds of ways, so I'm sure about it.

I admire your persistance at redoing this run. It shows some good work. Unfortunately, this game still isn't very interesting. I vote meh. If it weren't for the precision of the run itself I would have probably voted no. Sorry, I know how much work you've put into it.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

While I fiercely disagree with calling this game uninteresting, at some point I can understand you guys. When speaking about old console games, it's not the actual qualities of the game that really matter. More likely, it's all about previous experience with the game/games of that type. CS-J isn't worse than, say, Ninja Gaiden or Journey to Silius. It just wasn't so widespread. I don't know why I like the game THAT much. But for sure, it provides me strongest motivation to learn more about TASing.

You're right. Although there are numerous exceptions when a totally unfamiliar game suddenly looks very appealing from the first sight, this is rarely the case with NES platformers, which mostly share disgustingly simple (and therefore, very similar) engines that give you "hey, I think I've already seen this… many times" feeling. Can't be helped, really. :|

Holy crap this is Power Rangers?? Hell YES. Does it matter which ranger you pick for each level? I see you never picked the ethnically diverse rangers. See, when they were handing out colors, the Black Ranger (who is actually black himself!!) chose to be black, because black people all love being their own color. Similarly for Asian and yellow. You see, only white americans appreciate the diversity of color. Didn't you know that? That's why the nerd picked blue, the anorexic picked pink, and the steroid user / leader picked red. Class dismissed. Oh, the run? Looked good, voted yes. My favorite level was the first, and I especially like the boss fights because the only time I've seen a more brutal slugfest on the NES is Blades of Steel.

Five dorks in colored suits that fight bosses in giant robots? You're splitting hairs here.

Yes, the Japanese concept existed first. Congratulations. I'm still seeing a Power Rangers game here, since that's the concept I'm familiar with.

When comparing the bland-to-exciting ratio (a little too high on the bland side with this game) and the effort put in, I'm forced to vote a very weak 'yes', almost bordering on 'meh'. Anyway, JXQ.... from what little I know of this game through one solitary GameFAQs guide, I believe the difference between who was picked concerns their weaponry. The Yellow 'ranger' uses a punch attack and the Black 'ranger' uses a sword. Since the punch has less range than the sword, and there's no difference between the Black 'ranger' sword and the Red 'ranger' sword, frames would be lost switching to those two. But since the Blue 'ranger' and the White/Pink 'ranger' have the same weapon, and they're the same distance from where the cursor starts, the runner can throw in some variety without lost time. (Notes: I put 'ranger' in quotes each time because even though it's NOT Power Rangers, there appears to be about a 90% correlation between the two and I'm going with what I know. As far as me referring to one of the 'rangers' as White/Pink, it's because the game refers to that character as White Swan, yet she looks too much like the Pink Ranger to me.)

This was the last Sentai they made before they started turning Super Sentai shows into Power Rangers. No, this one doesn't have a pink ranger.
