I have no game paticularly in mind but would a TAS where one person controls two players or teams in a VS match, but creates an entertaining match and plays both players/teams to an exceptional standard. I was just wondering what anybodys thoughts on this is, and is there any TAS videos on the site or net which are like that.

I'd watch a quickest possible KO on street fighter 2 when player 2 is willing to help.

Aiming for the fastest time wouldn't be the target. It would be achiveing an untainable level of play such as dodging and countering at the last available frame/pixel. Street Fighter isn't an ideal game, but maybe I'm wrong. If there was a good Saturn Emu with slow down and re-recording then I could re-create a 5-5 2p vs team match on Virtua Fighter 2 (just as an example).

Super Smash Bros.? And what about non-fighting games that have some sort of competitive mode? (I don't know... 4-player Bomberman, 2-player Sonic 2, or some racing game.)

I've never seen a "TASed" 2P battle. Maybe in SF2, with Ken x Other. The Other makes Ken life decrease until the smallest possible bar. Then Ken do a 10-hit combo or something like that and wins :)

Why not just watch daigo's amazing tournament match instead then?

This would be the best way to make a TAS of any fighting game, except for the king of fighters series, since the the character changes every battle if you choose random select.
"Genuine self-esteem, however, consists not of causeless feelings, but of certain knowledge about yourself. It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success." - Onkar Ghate

Nintendo World Cup can have up to four people playing on two teams at once. That would be pretty hard for only one person to control, but it would make a crazy movie.

Mario Kart 64, 4 player battle arena. 4 player battling with driving at Legend/God quality, filling up a tiny arena with banana peels and green shells, hunting each other with stars.

It would probally be easier if two player were controling one character using frame advance. I don't know how you could control 4 players at once, since there would have to be some kind of saved input for that frame. It would still be just as hard as creating any other TAS, since you don't want to give the impression that it was deliberaley setup so a certain player would win or make it seem like oponent character just deliberatley took a hit instead of dodging or countering it.

You could make like a pseduo mail chess match. Where every frame you send your opponent your 'move' (inputs). This would be cool but due to so many frames would take an extremely long time to make. The idea of 1 person plays 2 players against each other is a cool idea too, and a bit more practical. I'd certainly watch both ideas if they were done.
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

I have thought about and love this idea in theory. But I can't think of what a satisfactory result would look like.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

Yeah I like that idea if you have 2 forum members coming up with an input for every on a match that lasts for 1:30 overall, it would take forever though since last time I played mail chess it 6 months to complete. I think a small collection of matchups would be could that have an overall running length of 5-10 mins would be good. I'd definitley watch it.

Why not attempt to recreate a real match in some sports game by luck manipulation and 2p cooperation?

like this one ? http://www.sandiegoserenade.com/2006/04/1986_world_series_game_6_reena.html too bad I can't understand the action, and I had to search a page that explains why it is so special. maybe I'd want to see the real one to compare them and admire the reenact really. is there any footage of it ? anyway, doing famous matches again is a good idea, provided everyone can understand the comparison, so I'd suggest to include the original along...

Street Fighter 2 is a good choice for a 2 player VS match. I tried to perform it on Super Street Fighter 2 in a tournament mode about a year ago. It was too difficult and time consuming that I cancelled it for now. The WIP can be seen here (only 1st round matches completed): http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/927/SSF2_Tournament%20WIP%20by%20Saturn.smv Dromiceius did a complete tournament for the same game too: Guess who will win!?

I think that if you make a run like this it will just confuse people into thinking it is real. once the video gets out into the public.

I don't think there's much more danger of that than there already is of it happening with the other runs here.
