I dont know if anybody's following the progress of the PCSX2 emulator, but it's getting quite a bit better. The latest release is running a whackload of games at full framerates, 100% through (with patches, which i wont explain here cause i dont really understand them) http://www.pcsx2.net i had the last release running on my computer, but this release is a full "From the ground up" re-write, so i'm having some issues getting it going. Give it a shot if you've got some time, I think it's got the best shot at being Nesvideo's first official PS2 emulator. Although... how much ram or HD space would a savestate take up :)

Excellent news. Its certainly a good step towards proper emulation for PS2 games. I would personally giggle like a little girl named Lucy if we would have a working rerecording PS2 emulator before having a working rerecording emulator for PS :) I think people who would TAS PS2 games must have somewhat decent computers.

And people who would like to see those TASes would have to have the game or download 4-8.5Gb images.

it's not on the compatibility list, so good luck. btw, there is no "open iso" option, you need the dvd. mounting images within your OS maybe ? not sure...

Trying to make it work but it gives me messages about it cannot function without a bios even though I've tried moving one bios in the bios directory and with several ones without it working. Any ideas? Also, I noticed it has load and savestates???

Feh. I'd rather have a working Playstation Emulator. For like, Spyro Games and stuff. Of course..If it's a PS2 emulator, it should be able to play PS1 games anyway, right? Well, whichever works for me.

Yes, the emulator does play PS1 games because it uses a PS2 bios, which plays ps1 games. As far as iso's, look further in the setup options, there are 3 ISO plugin's there, and all have worked for me at one time or another. The emulator is kinda buggy right now due to the new release, 0.9.1. It's a much better, faster, and more stable emulator, but since the emulators compatibility relies on "patches" until it's 100%, the new build isn't as compatible with the old patches.

I'm going to get a Wii too. :3 Well, that's cool. I will definately get that Emulator then. Currently I only have ePSXe, which I believe to be the best PSX Emulator so far. Well..I hope the PS2 emulator is done soon. :3

If we get Rerecord support, maybe I will try to do a Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance or EverQuest: Champions of Norrath run. I still need to get Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2. They will be rather tough games to do a TAS for I believe. So many ways to die. ;3

Best solution, try another bios. I had to go through 3 to get one to work. Not a bad idea to make an account for thier forums and ask around there, if that doesn't work. They've given me a LOT of help (until 0.9.1 came out, now there isn't enough help to go around, it's buggy) Just dont ask them for a bios, that's where they get snippy :)

I think every game has it's own bios, It's not like a neogeo system where a single bios can be used for all games.

No, every game doesn't have it's own bios. The bios comes from the Playstation 2 hardware. As an interesting legal note, If you have a Legal PS2, and in your emulator you use the same bios that PS2 uses, and your using legal game disks, what your doing is 100% legal in all countries.

I have 4 BIOSes, and can not import one from my own PS2 >_< but those 4 work fine, I almost can't see any difference =) I believe emulator had bug variety of plugins for cd/dvd, one even can make ISO from dvd to run from hdd, which is faster =) It's too early to think about rerecording, as we don't have even rerecording PSX emulator due to some timing ssues discussed on other thread )

Would input movies even work for an emulator like this? I don't know if it acts like Chankast, but in that one, loadings seem to depend on your processor instead of the DC's. So it would not only desynch on other computers, but also on the same because loadings don't always take the same time (depends on resources I guess). I don't know if PS2 emulation is the same. And I will admit that I mostly care about Dreamcast, but what are your thoughts on this?

If anyone knows where I can get some BIOs for a PS2 Emulator, think you can send me a PM, letting me know where? I tried searching every place I could think of already. They must be rather hard to find..
