Here is the challenges: 1.A competition of who can make Bordeaux(France) the fastest as possible at Championship difficulty. I want timeunits not movie time.So good luck guys. 2.There will be a second challenge later. ;) P.S. You can use re-recording emulator.Preferably Snes9x.Only the US version is accepted.

I just tested playing top gear with snes9x and it was a lot of harder than with real snes. It would be good that someone could offer here a savestate at the beginning of the Bordeaux, which is the third race of France. I have one but I can't share it because I don't have any place to upload it right now. For those who don't know, you can of course play Bordeuax by selecting the championship level and inserting password "keelson" at the select country section for the UK and then selecting France. I assume it is allowed to use the 2nd player to help to get a better time: In the race before the Bordeaux the first player can finish 20th to get the pole position for the Bordeaux while the 2nd player finishes top 5 to qualify to Bordeaux. The second player can also boost the first player with his nitroes, but that is very difficult with emulator because at least my computer allows only 4 key presses at the same time, which sucks badly. I don't know if it easy to play with a gamepad. If the second player option is allowed then it would be good that someone shared a savestate for the pole position. I don't know how to use slowdown on snes9x but fortunately I have a program that slows down my computer and it seems to work greatly. I can share that program if someone is interested. ps. I will try this one today.

I think it's sort of a slate blue. Typical rgb values for the darkest part of the paint are: red: 30 green: 100 blue: 150. It is more blue than green, but moniter settings can screw up how it's shown.

That was probably the case because I play this game on my TV, but now I can see it is more blue than green ;) BTW I'm waiting your results. If you want Snes9x with rerecord just join us on IRC.

My first try and it was 3'33''51 I run out of fuel before the last straight part of the race and lost there a few (maybe 3) seconds. I also started the race from the 20th position so I lost there a few seconds compared to Phil who started from the pole position. I'll try again soon but this time from the pole position...

Hey to everyone. Since i've seen Phil's speedrun at the one course in Top Gear, I wanna do a full speedrun. I'm not sure how interesting it would be to everyone, there arent a whole lot of glitches. Really the only glitch is where you run into the Start/Finish pole at the end of the race and you come in 1st and 2nd and you get extra points. So it could also be a max points run too, if I get it right on every track. I might be able to get my bro to do a 2 player run with me, that might be cooler. There's just one thing thats been bugging me, is the difference in the rom I have of it, and my cardridge. I've done some rough tests... First off, I was using the white car. On the Brazil track (1st track in S. America), I had to pit a lap earlier on the rom version than I did on my version. Yet, the ending times were only one second off of eachother (my version being better, but I could have just raced better). Also, I think that the Nitrus is more effective on the rom version than mine. Another thing, on the last track of the first cup, San Fransisco, I can go through the whole race without pitting and ending with a safe 3 bars of gas left, but on the rom version at the very end before i crossed the finish i ran out of gas. I'm still looking into it, because of the Brazil times, I want to make sure that in all, it doesnt make a difference. P.S. I was obviously doing my version on an SNES.

Could it possibly be a PAL/NTSC or US/Japan difference?
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

I've seen many people on zbattle and forums complaining that the nitro eats up faster in the emulator (zsnes), i've always said this is impossible, but maybe there's a flaw on the emulator that affects the fuel consumption.

no, both versions are NTCS versions. i suppose it is just something in the emulator. though i'm not sure how the emulator itself would effect the ROM (other than frame rate etc). if i could show you, i would, but i dont have any way to record me playing on the SNES. all i have is some rough data, like i said Just on the subject of fuel consumption in the game, the higher your RMP's, the faster your fuel is going down. Like I was playing as the blue car, and the comp was the white car, and he had to pit before me (he was behind be, so he was going faster, resulting in a higher RPM rate) And to get the red car to its full potential, you have to keep it in 4th gear longer than any other car. It's automatic trans. sucks on it, it always switches too early, making your accel. suck. But while in manual, you can make the car have much better accel, but have a much higher fuel consumption rate. Another thing i noticed in the game with the blue car, is that gas and breaking at the same time can be more effective than just letting off and on of the gas, because it slowly slows down (if that makes sence). It more keeps a constant speed, but going down down a MPH unit per second or so. This seemed to work best around 130~MPH. Same goes for the purple car. But the white car is better off letting go most of the time. The red car, it doesnt work so great for it, maybe there's a certain MPH I have to reach before i can do it right.

Okay, the problem must have just been with ZSNES, because I just got Snes9x and it's working just fine on that.

http://rapidshare.de/files/25876637/Top_Gear__U_.smv.html there were a couple of times where i f****d up, but it should give you an idea of what it would be like.for me it sync'd out on the 2nd track (it does the first 3) on the last lap... i dunno what the problem is :( this also happens to me when i try to veiw Philcote's movie, it messes up, but right in the beginning

Does anyone know how Phil got the option of doing 6 laps in his run? I've played around with it and can't figure out which option determines the number of laps (changing the difficulty keeps the length at 3 laps)

*bump* I'm trying to experiment a glitch. It's possible to get first and second at the same time. What if one player does the "finish in two positions" glitch and the other player finishes in 20th? The game would think the player finished in 21st, or will it display 21th? It's very tricky to pull off as the "Race Over" message pops up after the top 10 has finished the race. What will happen if this trick was pulled off?

A 1-player TAS requires you to wait for the on-screen computer racer to finish. We'll probably gonna have to deny the on-screen computer racer from entering the pits so that he'll run out of fuel.
