Watched your WIP, MUGG.
Though I do not know so much about this game, I know your run can be improved. SMNS's testrun (flv mirror at MediaFire) is shorter than your one.
Also, as far as I've heard, you do not need to complete Spring Breeze (and Gourmet Race) to unlock Milky Way Wishes.
I think you must do Gourmet Race, but I can confirm that Spring Breeze is not necessary to get all the way to unlocking the Sound Test (you won't get 100% without Spring Breeze, though).
Now, I can't watch your video, so I just have one question:
Did you use Ice against Lololo/Lalala? Nitsuja's strategy is suboptimal: It's fastest to rush up to one of them (s/he must not be standing over a gap), grab the block and immediately use Freezer Ejection. Then follow-up with two hits from the breath (or a quick mid-air attack), and finish off with a blizzard attack.
Floogal, no I didn't use Ice but Ninja.
Ice can't be considered as one of the fastest strategies anymore, imo.
Ok, thanks.
I'll have to start over =O
I don't know what has to be played in order to unlock Milkey Way Wishes.
But why did Nitsuja play it then?
I'm not going for 100%.
I asked the same question on this topic, but it was ignored :P
My guess is that they didn't knew well this game & they though you need everything to unlock Milky Way Wishes... If you're not going for a 100%, then you should skip them, IMO.
BTW, good luck on your run, I'll follow your progress :)
If anyone is interested in a 100% great cave offensive, I know several tricks to speed up tresure getting. I'm gonna try and find more trick before posting them, and I'll try to make some videos. I'll have to figure out how though.
I've been playing Kirby super star pretty much my whole life, so I've learned quite a lot that could help for a tas of Kss great cave offensive 100%. Granted, I don't have a great castle route planned out yet, but I'm working on it. I've started putting together a walkthrough for this idea. I have no plans to try and make the run myself since I don't have the patience or proper equipment to make one. I also can't make videos, so I've put together a screenshot walkthrough. I do not have it all done yet by far, since I'm still trying to figure out some more tricks. Here's what I've got so far
*starting at room three since the first two are straight forward*
First, get these two birds together and inhale them both to get mix.
You want to get plasma ability. The mix cycle from the start is Suplex, sleep, crash, stone, and then plasma. You will notice a bomb block. This block is supposed to be used just to get out of where that treasure is. Getting that treasure the right way takes a long time.
because you got plasma, you can shoot through the wall and hit it saving a ton of time. Remember that you you can hit it just by using the the second least charged attack. this also saves time due to less charging.
In the next room, there is a bomb block out of reach.
use the same attack as before to hit it. where kirby is standing is as far away as he can stand before being out of range.
that path is now open, and it has a treasure down there.
This block needs to be destroyed to get a treasure.
By shooting plasma laser (second to full charge) from here, and lined up as shown in the image, you can hit the block without going all the way over there. *In case you think charging would take a long time, it probably won't with proper turbo buttons*
the block will be gone so you can get this.
go up to this area and shoot a plasma laser or plasma bomb (second to full or fullest charge) this will quickly destroy all the blocks to get to a treasure.
You no longer have any use for plasma, so you want to get rid of the power. Rather than go through the long time wasting prosses of getting rid of your power via helper, it would be best to get hit and get rid of your power that way. Should be easy with proper luck manipulation
now you want to get cutter. So eat this guy.
a trick that I've never seen used in a speed run to date, is the swallowing in the air. when you have an enemy in your mouth, rather than waiting to hit the ground, you can press the "A" button to swallow in the air. This is important for the next trick.
when copying a power, kirby sometimes demonstrates his attack, in this case, throwing a cutter blade. Although not known well, this cutter blade will actually count as an attack, and can damage enemies or break blocks. when you swallow in the air, be sure to be lined up with the block in the above picture. this way, when kirby shoots his blade, it will destroy the block without having to make a seperate jump and waste time.
next go down here.
This is where a great trick comes into play. Stand at the very left side of the wall, and while holding a turbo button for the "Y" button, use kirby's down cutter attack. this will make kirby go through the floor, rather than go all the way to the proper entrance, which will save a ton of time.
That is all I have so far. Maybe this will motivate someone to work on a stratagy too. More as I finish it.[/img]
I checked out GameFAQs:
BTW, why is Milkey Way Wishes considered the final mode?
If there's nothing that makes MWW the final mode, then every mode should be individually beaten, IMO.
Zurreco showed me a couple of Japanese videos a week ago, with new discovered tricks and glitches.
If I remember correctly, there was also a Great Cave Offensive 100% TAS.

If you're still doing Spring Breeze, then I would recommend dropping whatever power you have for Stone right before Kracko. Consider even destroying the helper (so Kracko and Dedede have fewer HP), at least for Dedede.
To see Stone in action, check out this run (may not be TAS): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpqLKznTbzQ
4:52 - Dedede
5:39 - Kracko
For Gourmet Race, you can do much better in the 3rd race. When using Wing, you can rise significantly faster by holding down and then alternating between B and Y.
Technical explanation:
- begin a mid-air Bomber Heading (down + Y)
- near the peak of the little loop Kirby starts the move with, cancel out by pressing B (Wing Flap)
- start a new Bomber Heading & repeat.
I suggest watching this guy's entire channel. There's a few big time savers that he shows off in many levels, including this crazy usage of wing. If these tricks are only available in the Japanese version, I would fully support a switch to use that because these tricks are VERY entertaining.

What air maneuver was being abused with the Wing skill, and how so? It looked like the start of the Down+Y loop-de-loop, but cancelled? :)
Edit: Gah, that's exactly what it is/was, explained on Page3. Sorry guys.
Great lookin' video--my jaw dropped at using the snowman helper to glitch into the wall in level 2!
I would say because of the ending, it has the credits on it unlike others...
I noticed some final screens say things like "Next" or "To be continued".
Milky Way Wishes says "There's more".
Indeed, there's one more mode, the arena as I heard, which is unlocked when all modes are finished.
100% would require beating the arena after MWW, so the ending of that mode would have to be cancelled. The arena's ending seems kinda short and it sucks IMO.
So I'm aiming for either any% till Milky Way Wishes or 100% with every ending of every mode being played till the end (though this might be a good solution it may probably also lead to controversial discussions).

There are some glitches I've seen so far I'm unable to reproduce.
For example "flying into walls via helper" or "Jet boosting into walls".
Does anyone have a good understanding of these glitches?

I explained how to go into walls with Jet on my blog, but written in Japanese. I'll try to show how with some screenshots.
(modded screenshots by Yu-ki(Hs), thanks)
Unfortunately, I cannot explain how to fly into walls via helper.

Thanks for the information, gocha.
Can you by any chance provide the SMV of that Spring Breeze TAS you posted, too?
It would help me at frame precision.
