kick ass video, finished watching it about 10 minutes ago. i was impressed by a lot of things, noticed a lot of things that made a lot of sense, yet i never thought of doing them, and laughed several times throughout the video. i laughed at the part where player 1 stood on the ground as the plane in stage 1 came and the floor was engulfed in flames. i always stood on the platforms so i wouldnt die. i was impressed by the use of dual crush guns (or whatever the C represents for the weapons) and the rapid switching by using the X button. had i not looked up, i probably wouldn't have realized it, but i was beginning to wonder how they were shooting that weapon so fast. its usually so slow. the overhead stages were completely a lot faster than i ever thought they could be. i used to play this game with my brother and we'd take a good couple of minutes, it felt as if they beat both stages in maybe 30 seconds (not including the bosses) the final boss fight was pretty cool, but i was surprised by how much damage it took before it finally died. i was hoping for a bit more variety in that last battle, as the players kept choosing the same thing from the boss roullete. and can someone explain the rapid wall climbing technique used twice in the video?

I liked the fact that the movie ended rather early. I was actuallly able to give Player 1 a game over. >_>

Hi, I've downloaded the AVI using bittorrent, but every player I try to open the file with just crashes. Sometimes I get some garbage, sometimes it crashes immediatly. I'm using the XVID 1.01 codec. My question: What have you opened the AVI with? Many thanks for any help Philip

The AVI didn't work for me either. Try the smv file.

I'd gladly do that - if only the Snes9x-version with the movie feature would be available yet. Guess it's either waiting 'till June 30th (when the version is supposed to be released) or begging in IRC... I just hoped it's just me having problems with the AVI Philip

plzz read this http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=234&highlight=xvid otherwise the video may be corrupted, so try redownloading it.

My problem is not about crashing explorer, but just about the video (I've redownloaded it for three times) being somewhat corrupt that it crashes the video codec. XVID is installed correctly and I have not problems whatsoever opening the other videos bisqwit encoded. Whatever. The new Snes9x will soon be available, so it doesn't matter. Philip

Hello, the solution for the AVI-Problem was to install ffdshow which contains a working (but slightly outdated) XVID-Codec. Maybe the videos could be encoded with a more recent version of XVID in the future? But this is not so important. The videos are :-) Philip

Hi, I really don't want to be annoying but when I use the XVID 1.0.1 distribution from http://www.koepi.org, all I get is the crash - even after a clean installation. If I use the XVID-Codec that came with the most current ffdshow I could find (from somewhere in 2003 - definitely older than Xvid 1.01), the videos do work. So either the videos (just speaking from the newly added ones encoded by Phil) are encoded using an earlier version or the build provided by koepi has a bug (which is very well possible). If the latter is the case: What solution do you suggest for watching those videos on a Windows Platform (I'm unable to use linux on my current computer) while still using a moderatly current XVID codec? The only binary (I only have Visual Studio 2003 where which does not seem to like the current sourcecode) 1.0.1 distribution for Windows I could find is Koepi's build which crashes while decoding those new videos, despite me making a clean installation. But it's not that important as I have a solution for now. Many thanks anyway. Philip

if nothing works, use Video lan player.

I second this. VLC has worked for just about everything I've tossed at it. Available here.

Mplayer is available on Windows now. You can grab a convenient Mplayer + frontend package here: http://deje.uw.hu/ It should be able to play anything, though I haven't tested it on that particular file.

Log in, go to submissions, and look for the contra 3 link. The filename's different, but it appears to be the same recording, and this link actually works. =P

That it does. Thank you for the advice, 4matsy. As for the video itself--very impressive, although SnesX insisted on running it while maximized, which lead to the movie not appearing smooth--though that had no effect on sync. The movie was very good--both guys appeared to be showing great restraint in not shooting everything in sight.

About the only thing I see that could have been done better was the 3rd level, where you first climb the walls. The guy that shoots out 2 rockets each time he takes a step. I think genisto and phil should have whipped out their lasers and shot each rocket for entertainment. Other than that the whole video was flawless. Keep up the good work.

Did you really have to make two topics? Couldn't you have made one? Anyway, you should have tried going to the irc channel first. I don't have any of those though, so sorry. Edit: Oh, and read the forum description: Planning SNES games. Movie-related talk goes to General. Emulator questions go to Emulator forums.

It's the reason we need seeders. I agree with Bob Whoops, this topic should be elsewhere.
