This time,me and vsmk3 dicided to beat previous run. We found some interesting glitches that they are useful in the game. So we were very sure the obsolete previous run can be saved more and more time.
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Abuses programming errors
  • No passwords
  • Manipulates luck
Obsoletes previous run by 6030 frames / 100.5 seconds(game time : 3762.text time : 2268) Time: 134063 frames / 37:14 Minutes Re-Record Count : 29148
Our route:Cloud-Junk-Freeze-Burst-Slash-Spring-Shade-Turbo
Intro – 4 frames gained
Cloud – 243 frames lost Because no danger wrap weapon.
Junk – 373 frames gained We improved Bablo's glitch. Thanks Bablo who discovered the trick. The new glitch had been used "sliding on R.JET through the wall ".
Freeze – 967 frames gained Most of the frames gained came from boss battle,we did a entertraining trick before against the boss.
Burst – 166 frames gained The R.JET was very important in the stage.Etc through the bomb, take damege zip the wall.
Slash – 70 frames gained Nothing special in the stage.
Spring – 261 frames gained Two new techniques had been used. One of the techniques was the same in the junk stage. The other was "fly+jump?".I don't know how to describe it,but I think you will like it.
Shade – 11 frames gained Nothing special in the stage.
Turbo – 43 frames gained Nothing special in the stage
Wily1 – 90+120 frames gained The 120 frames lost at bass battle text.In fact it is total 210 frames gained in the stage, because we should caculate frames in game action, not text.
Wily2 – 35+263 frames gained The same situation as wily1.263 frame lost at bass battle text.
Wily3 – 339 frames gained Using some new glitches in the stage.
Wily4 – 742 frames gained Most of the frames gained in cloud and Spring.
Wily5 – 519 frames gained better weapon usage.
vsmk3:
The screenshot I want to use
I think Japan version is more enrertainment than USA version.
USA version deleted the funny information when you selected stage.
And this is another example : http://vsmk3.myweb.hinet.net/RockMan7.png
It seems USA version didn't have the dialogue with Roll and Auto. (I used to use J Rom,almost never played this game with U rom so I just do some tests, not very sure)
I think the dialogue with Roll and Auto is more entertainment than Dr.Light. Too bad it's much longer than Dr.Light,so I can't show that in this movie.

adelikat: Despite the suspect version change, I am accepting this for publication to obsolete the current mega man 7 run.

All I could think while watching this run was "The music and sounds of this game are a disgrace to the Mega Man series." Spring Man's music is almost as gay as Double Dragon 2's Level 5 Train music. Everything about that level was atrocious. Is "Boyoyon" supposed to be onamatopeia for a spring noise? And did anyone else think Wily 2's music felt like it belonged in Michael Jackson's Moonwalker? It's obviously well played. It's also somewhat repetitive, like most Mega Man games (especially boss fights are boring to me). Usually the pleasant quality of the game itself tips it to yes, but I'm voting meh on this one.

Do you lost time while attack freezeman faster than the anumimation, because he is freezed, but is energy is still full. To me it seems a lost of time. But that's a big yes :)

Basically I hate the idea of forcing rockman into a wall to make him zip.

What would you do then? Do something slow and boring, like, NOT forcing him into the wall? Besides, it hardly ever happens in this movie... Invalid Session. Please resubmit the form. Invalid Session. Just because it's "unexpected" doesn't mean that it looks good. I've been over this argument several times before, you're not going to change my mind.

Go to SDA if you want no-out-of-boundary runs.

"hurr hurr go to sda if you dont' like a run posted hereeee!!!!!11one" Uh, no. The runs at SDA are actual gameplay in real time, the runs here are tool assisted, two seperate things. Nowhere in the definition of "tool assisted" does it say "must look like crap" Zipping in mega man games looks like crap.

I think that's really up to the author. If he wants to do a "non-glitched" run, that really up to him. I think overall though, this movie was really well done, and the abuse of programming errors is what solidified that conclusion, for me at least. That statement would have to apply to most glitched runs, as "forcing the player into a wall" is generally (not always though) what constitutes a glitch, and abuse of that glitch can lead to unforseen, time saving results. You can't really penalize a run because of the aesthetics of a glitch, since it's purpose is usually to save time, which it does in this case.

No it doesn't! Man, whatever happened to the days when I could just say something about something, and people would change their minds about it? Also, speed emulator videos aren't about looking good; they're about beating the game as fast as possible, and if they happen to look good by coincidence, well, that's nice

See the question at the top of the poll? it says "Did you enjoy watching this movie?" not "Was this really friggin fast?"

But you can only enjoy a movie if it is really friggin fast. Or at least I have heard so here. So they are actually one in and of the same thingers! Anyway, the point is that you convinced me that I should never jump into a wall, because SOMETHING MIGHT HAPPEN. Not this time, Sonny Jim!

Definite yes vote, it's quite broken and looks pretty optimized. Definitely fun to watch the way you get around a few obstacles.

Uh, no. You see, the prevailing attitude here (indeed, the attitude of this site's maintainer) is that part of the point of Tool Assistance is to break the game wide open using every possible helpful glitch. If you don't like Megaman glitching through walls, then you probably don't want to watch the megaman TASes on this site. Hence, you ought to go somewhere else, rather than try to change the way things work in this whole community, just for your benefit. Alternately, you could make a glitch-free TAS yourself (or at least one that respects wall boundaries), and submit it. Just make sure you're not trying to obsolete the glitched run, because a glitch-free run will be slower and less entertaining, in most cases.

Um, yeah. In all seriousness, the fun of the movies is getting to do something abnormal. Playing exactly the way you were intended is what looks "bad" most of the time. This applies not to just glitches, but also to generally odd decisions on how to play through a game. Now, I know there are odd things you can do that make a run look bad if you do them too much, but if it's a good game, it probably won't allow too much abuse.

Umm, Upthorn, the thing is that NecroVMX watches even the runs he doesn't like and votes "no" on them if they have glitches he doesn't like. Apparently, getting inside a wall in this game sucks, and exploiting numerous glitches in your S3&K run doesn't. Go figure. (The moral of the story: don't argue with NecroVMX, it's pointless.)

To further justify, for no apparent reason, "why" arguing with NecroVMX is pointless, which has/had nothing to do with being right or wrong, I have no idea where anyone got that notion (no offense intended): He's entitled to his opinion and voting no on a relatively popular movie, especially with his given reason, makes hardly a dent in decision making (or the decision made) when comparing the yes votes with the no votes of this movie.

Well everyone have their opinion, and that's it. There's no justification to tell him he is right or wrong, he don't like it, that's all.
