TP Takes time to plan routes and strategies, because it's a big new game.

As me and a friend was playing this game, it suddenly hit me, though I don't know if it has been discussed before. In a 96 exit run, wouldn't it be faster to use a 2p run because of the walking times and stuff like that will be cut? Sure, the fade-out and fade-in switching between the two players will crave some time, but in the whole I suspect there are many seconds to be saved by using two players. What do you guys think?

Highness, This has been discussed a couple times before. The two main reasons this unfortunately isn't true is 1. the fade-in and fade-out times when switching between Mario and Luigi are HUGE, like a couple seconds each exit (switching ~95 times at ~2 seconds each would mean over 3 minutes lost just from that, and I believe the fade times are more than 2 seconds each time), and 2. the overworld map route wouldn't be much shorter anyway. The majority of map movements used are forced, meaning you're automatically taken from one level to another after finishing the previous level, and having two players around wouldn't speed those movements up in any way. Using 2 players would probably mean you could minimize unforced map movements, but there aren't enough of those to come close to saving 3 minutes, plus whatever extra slowdown you'd have to deal with in-level (more levels would be done without cape, grabbing a second cape for luigi would take extra time, etc). Hope this explanation made sense.

Sure did. Can't remember seeing the discussion, though I didn't do any research before posting anyways. Cheers for the answer! :)

I just wanted to say that the small run that thegreginator and I are working on reached the halfway mark yesterday. Only 43 more exits to go ;)

Hey guys, I haven't done a lot of work on my 96 exit run lately. Today, though, a new discovery was made which means some of the pretty cool looking new stuff I had done is obsolete and needs redoing. So I figured, why not release a few pretty nice looking levels which won't find their way into the final run? Hopefully it might generate some interest in the run. These three levels were 3½ seconds faster than in the published movie, in total. Click me. Star World 5 secret exit, Gnarly and Tubular. Hope you enjoy.

Holding left and right at the same time will make you go much faster when in a lakitu cloud or in P-balloon mode. It was originally discovered by skamastaG on console, interestingly enough :)

How do you discover something like that on the console I wonder?? Tubular was a good demo level to show, but the other should've been VD2 for sure :-p awesome stuff, and the better improvements are going to be even BETTER?! someone pinch me!

comicalflop, I'm not looking to post stuff which will actually be included in the movie :) But yeah Vanilla Dome 2 is quite neat. I can say this though. Tubular might now be the coolest level in the entire run, easily top5 anyway. Ever since we (jimsfriend, <3) got it to work we've been screaming uncontrollably, pretty much. It's awesome.

Since this thread is already on top of the forum, I might as well show you all this cool and weird glitch, which I just caught on tape for the first time. Neat huh?

Cool greg. Remember, when I had 25-30 something levels left, I had the run done in 6 days :) No pressure! Anyway looking forward to seeing it finished.

We actually have 28 levels to go because we did the Forest of Illusion in a different order, so we haven't done 44, 45, or 47 yet.
