Okay, since TASing DOS games is pretty much a reality right now, what games do you think should be TASed first (or at least, not last)?
I'd love to see a TAS of the following games:
1. Metal Mutant - this underrated game is great visually, it's not boring to watch even for those who haven't played it, and it's not repetitive. I'd love to see a TAS of it.
2. Fury of the Furries - an absolutely fantastic game which is hard to play and fun to watch. Unfortunately, it seems that there are some problems with emulating it via DOSbox (not sure, maybe it's just me).
3. Blackthorne - we have Another World, we have Flashback, why not this clone? The music is great, the game is not too repetitive and as far as clones go, this one is simply fantastic.
4. Wolfstein 3D & Spear Of Destiny - no need to comment, I guess...
5. Commander Keen series - it's pretty linear, but it's fun to watch. I wonder what kind of shortcuts could be found to make TASing these games better...
6. Dangerous Dave series - see point 5, but it's more interesting and tactically challenging, IMO
7. Supaplex - a TAS of the best Boulderdash clone ever should be CRAZY.
8. Micro Machines - why no TAS of this game? It's on the consoles, and I think it will be very watchable.
9. Crusader: No Remorse - simply interesting to play and watch.
10. Montezuma's Revenge - a port of a classic game. Not sure if anyone will enjoy it, but I think this game is great, especially for a classic.
11. TES: Daggerfall - for the game that has territory compared to real life Britain, it can be finished pretty quick... the question is - how quick?
12. Eye of the Beholder series - classic hack'n'slash RPG, visually stunning in its day.
13. Shadowcaster - hybrid of linear RPG and FPS, innovative and interesting.
14. System Shock 1 & 2 - no need to explain this one...
15. Dungeon Keeper (Gold) - this unique game definitely has a lot to offer both for TASing and viewing the result.
16. Syndicate - nuff said...
Games which probably aren't the best choice of TASing:
1. Cannon Fodder - with its tiny soldiers, a TAS of this game will simply be incomprehensible, I'm afraid.
2. RTS games such as Dune 2, Warcraft, C&C - Well, they're hard to TAS since there are so many strategies (which makes TASing them interesing), but I'm not sure whether they will be fun to watch. OTOH, a lot of people played the aformentioned games, so this will make TASes more welcome.
3. Covert Action - fantastic game, but simply too long and probably impossible to finish in any realistic amount of time (I mean, capturing all 26 masterminds?)
Your thoughts?
