I think Twisted Metal is great, especially the 2nd and Head-On. Unfortunately they haven't been released for N64 so we can't do a speedrun/crazy moves through the game etc. But.. There's another game which is very much like them and is as good if not better. Vigilante 8. I loved this game back in the day... and the original Vigilante 8 too. Isnt this the one with the UFO in it? I know theres one with an uber destruction UFO. :-P
