Demon Sword completed as fast as possible. This film is faster than the original Curtmack record by about 66 seconds. In the first two levels, I found a way to avoid losing momentum when hitting trees and to jump over high walls without hitting them. With the first few bosses, I used the sword for all 20 hits to kill the boss as fast as possible. The third boss (2-1) is different because he can hide. I let him jump a couple times in order to manipulate him out of hiding for some time, which is slower in the long run. On boss 6, it looks like I'm wasting darts, but the game reads the darts as hitting even though they go through the boss graphically. The final boss teleports away every time it is attacked. It's impossible to find a truly optimal route because manipulating it to teleport closer one time may result in it teleporting much further away another time. Therefore, I have to use a suitable sub-optimal route.

I forgive you a lot!

The 2-1 boss fight seemed like he got a way from you too much, but maybe I'm overanalyzing. Great run though. Yes vote. :) BTW, you must have used a bad ROM, because my good ROM didn't match the checksum, but it ran perfectly fine.

Good improvement, and voting yes. Y'know, I remember playing and loving this game when I was 10 or so and I don't remember it being very hard or bosses taking very long to beat. Most of the movies on this site are "hard games made to look easy"... either my memory is shot or the opposite is true in this case.

This run improved on the previous by 66.6 seconds. Do you know what that means, kids? LUCIFER MADE THIS TAS! Just kidding. Great run and a yes vote from me.

I see that you did the whole run without powerups. Have you considered getting any powerups? Or are they too hard to manipulate. Specifically: 1) Getting speedups in the more horizontal areas so you can run through them faster. If you can manipulate their drop, these should be able to pay for themselves. 2) In the locked doors, you can get scrolls. They inflict 16 damage each. This could make the final battle much shorter. 3) There are shuriken powerups. Their position appears to be fixed. This would only be useful if you couldn't get the scroll. I'm guessing that the shurikens are too slow to actually be useful against bosses? Still, getting 1 to double the damage might make the later boss battles go much faster. Have you tested any of these possibilities?

This was great, I especially like how the boss music syncs up well with the sword swings.
